beware of the darkclan cat who will lunge from the fog
Welcome young traveler to the DarkClan guide. Are you lost perhaps, or maybe checking up on updates? Whatever the reason, you are here anyway and will nevertheless be greeted by words and second person, dear old second person. We Darkclanners are known to be reserved and hostile, mysterious and brutish, known not to show mercy. But ask yourself this, is it rumour or fact? Regardless, we are a tight community, and like a family - we help and respect each other.
You notice there is a table of contents below, just in case you're looking for a particular section or are too lazy to scroll. How kind of us.
It is shamelessly admitted Part 1 was linked for aesthetic reasons.
TERRITORY ☆ fancy a tour?
FOREST: (x) (x) (x)
DarkClans rocky territory is covered in a thick fir tree forest. It stretches as far as eye can see each direction, falling away as one nears the Highstones. The area is constantly blanketed by heavy layer of mist that lingers year round.
TUNNELS: (x) (x)
There are many tunnels spread about the territory that dip underground, but only few lead to the main camp. Each tunnel is tall but reasonably narrow, perfect size for any domestic feline, but a struggle for bulkier animals. The deeper you travel into the depths, the darker they grow until you break out into the main cave.
CAMP: (x) (x)
DarkClans camp is a large cave just beneath their territory. Many swift running creeks lead from the tunnels and feed the lake that is placed on the southwest corner of the outcropping. The floor is for the most part flat with a few cracks and sizable rocks here and there. At the very top of the camp is a ragged hole that lets in natural light as well as the elements. A fall from such a height can be fatal.
LEADER'S DEN: (x) Being the second largest den in the camp, the leaders den is large and curiously structures. The smooth clearing where his/her nest lies is surrounded by strange stag/stalagmites, like the teeth of a dragon. The pale stone faintly absorbs light from the main cave, giving it a soft glow. It is placed near the river rather high up, so to gain access to it, one would have to clamber up a rock pile that leads to the cave entrance.
MEDICINE DEN: (x) The medicine den is the largest cave and is separated in two parts. The main part is flat and filled with nests. This is where patients are kept for healing. Large cracks in the stone walls provide storage areas for herbs and such. The second part is a much smaller cave for the medicine and medicine cat apprentice to rest. This cave is placed next to the pile of rocks that leads to the leaders den, stretching deep into the stone walls. moss and vines grow around and over the entrance, providing a screen for privacy.
WARRIORS DEN: (x) The warriors den is a very roomy cave with plenty of room to house DarkClan's warriors. There tends to be very little light that manages to slip through the moss screen that lays over the cave mouth. The den is located on the far side of camp, near the tunnel openings.
APPRENTICE DEN: (x) The apprentices den is similar to the warriors, but is slightly smaller with a ledge that stretches farther back. This cave has no curtain shielding it from the main cave, but the long hall that leads you through the stone wall and too the outcropping is usually enough for privacy. The den is located near the pooling of water and is slightly higher than the rest, but can easily be reached by jumping or climbing on the flat rock below it.
NURSERY: (x) The nursery lies between the medicine den and the warriors den, shielded from the buzz of the clan by a thick screen of ivy. The den is very large and flat, providing plenty of room for queens to rest and kits to play. Small patches glowing moss hang on the ceiling and provide faint light.
ELDERS DEN: (x) The elders den is strategically placed as far away from the water as possible but near the rest of the clan. The distance from the river helps prevent dampness and aids in providing a comfortable life for the clans highly respected elders. This caves mouth is wide and welcoming, but screened by ivy for occasional privacy.
STORAGE CAVES: There are many small caves throughout the camp and tunnels that are used to store moss, fresh-kill, herbs, and other necessities when needed.
THE TALL STONE:
The tall stone rests in the middle of the wide river that cuts through the camp. Two or three other stones poke from the waters surface, acting like a pathway. The bolder is damp and moss covered due to constant contact with the current. This is where the leader (or deputy in the leaders absence) makes announcements and holds ceremonies.
TRAINING GROUNDS: (x)
This flat clearing lies not far from camp and is commonly used for training.
WARRIORS LEAP: (x)
Warriors Leap is two large boulders set out near the border. The stones are difficult to climb, but serve as good places to get away from camp and sunbathe. Apprentices and warriors alike often challenge themselves as well as others to leap across to the other stone. Injury is common here and is strongly despised by medicine cats.
SKELETON GORGE: (x) (x) (x) (x)
Skeleton Gorge is a dangerous place. There are the bony remains of animals who have either fallen their death or died from starvation littering its floor. Its a good place to practice climbing, but it is also home to many snakes and coyotes.
MAMMOTH SKULL: (x)
The moss covered mammoth skull is large, larger than any two-leg monster or anything the clans have seen. Though the cats are not sure what beast such a remain came from, they consider it as spiritual. but its often used as a playground or social area due to its close proximity to camp.
THE MOUNTAINS: (x)
Small mountains sprout out in the farther back reaches of DarkClan's territory. These are covered in the same thick forest that covers the rest of the land and are usually blanketed in a thick mist. One mountain crumbled down into the Skeleton Gorge and is used during the apprentice trials.
THE CHURCH: (x)
The church is a long since abandoned two-leg nest that is perched along the side of one of the many mountains in DarkClan's territory. It is used in the apprentice trials and is a good place to place any clanner that needs to be quarantined. Nearby is a large fenced in garden where medicine cats can find abundant amounts of herbs.
