  • Softpaw hated him. She hated him for the fact that he was everything she was not, he was a good fighter... He was clan born... He was thornfangs new 'favorite' or at least she seemed to think her was... And worst of all... She loved him. She hadn't stopped thinking about him, hadn't been able to keep her mind off him. And that had only fueled her anger even more, like gasoline to flames. She had been taking a walk through the territory in the hopes of clearing her mind, and forgetting about badgerpaw for now.

  • The apprentice pushed his way through the entrance to the camp, intent on catching prey for his Clan. Now that he was eleven moons old, it wouldn't be much longer until he was granted his position as a warrior — so he had to prove he was worthy. He wondered what his name would be. Badgerpelt? Badgerfur? Badgerface? Badgerheart? He hoped his name would not be Badgerheart — what a cruel name. He liked to believe he didn't have the heart of a mere badger, although when he thought of overthrowing Sparrowstar, he had second thoughts about what kind of heart he had.

The undergrowth rustled a few fox-lengths away, and his gaze darted, his pupils turning to tiny slits. He drank in the scents, and the aroma of mouse was pungent. Badgerpaw's needle-sharp claws slid out and he crouched and stalked forward steadily, until he was close enough to pounce on the mouse and kill it. It certainly wasn't a clean kill, as blood pooled the ground. The older apprentice was going to have to be better than this to be a warrior. He drank the scents again, and a sweet, familiar scent filled his nose. Softpaw. He saw the pretty young she-cat wandering through the marshland. "Hey Softpaw," he greeted her, his eyes bright, falling into step beside her. He wondered why she was just padding around instead of doing apprentice stuff, and she seemed like she had something on her mind. He hoped desperately she wouldn't ignore him like she had the past few days.

  • Momentarily startled, it took her brain a second to register what had happened. However, she let It a growl once she had, spinning around to face him, fangs flashing.bthe smaller and younger apprentice looked furious. "what do you want!" she snapped, giving a small hiss.

//just a heads up, at some point in this she's gonna get so frustrated she breaks down crying

Badgerpaw's ears flattened and he felt his paws tremble. What had he done? Something that felt like pain shot through him — and anger."I-I, I just wanted to say hi," he stammered in disbelief. "What did I do, Softpaw?" He felt his green eyes clouding rapidly. "I'm sorry for whatever I did, but I miss you," he meowed quietly, not looking her in the eye. "I really like you... Like, really..." He felt himself go hot with embarrassment and his paws scuffled in the leaves. He didn't think he would admit his feelings for her would be under these kind of circumstances.

  • "you,.. You what?" she stammered out, eyes going wide. As her mind began to process what her friend had said, she teared up, her large ears flattening. "th-that can't be true" she stammered out, whimpering. He liked her... No, he couldnt- could he?

  • "Of course it is," he meowed, his skin going bright red under his pelt. "I wouldn't lie to you." He felt his stomach twist. What if she didn't like him back? He sent a silent prayer to StarClan. He glanced at her and looked away, terrified to find out the answer.

  • [justify] Happiness shone through the tears in her eyes and she pressed her face into his fur, a happy purr coming from the petite apprentice. Embarrassment colored her pale ears pink, and she only just managed to mumble out the words she'd been wanting to say for a while now. "I love you badgerpaw," she murmured happily, fluffy tail flicking.

  • "I love you too, Softpaw," he murmured, a purr rumbling loudly in his throat. He entwined his tail with her's and pressed closer to the pretty she-cat, his eyes gleaming.
