  • [justify][fancypost borderwidth=0px]It just so happened that he was privileged to comprehend a second language, aside from the most basic that everyone spoke. He had been much younger when first introduced to the tongue. Fortunately, he had continuously utilized the language throughout his childhood, and even now when he was with Benjamin. It was more often that he didn't use French, considering how many didn't speak it. Regardless, he employed it as often as he could. If anything, Scott preferred the language over the basic one his clan mates spoke. French was fluid, yet strenuous enough to perplex any individual who happened to hear it. He enjoyed feeling more intuitive than others, especially since it gave more fuel for his ever-growing ego. A satisfied smirk arose to his lips as he peered out over the main clearing of camp, honey visionaries holding the same expression. The longer he thought about French, the more he wanted to be able to speak it aloud — with, or without Ben. He hadn't ever taught anyone a subject before, but he supposed it wasn't a bad time to begin. It was also a fact that he wasn't acquainted with anyone else who could fluently and precisely vocalize the language. "La langue de l'amour," Montgomery uttered aloud, grinning pleasantly after his initial comment. There would be many more statements to be said, even if most were to be directed towards his clan mates. He would enjoy making them feel inadequate in comparison to him. With a laugh, the canine lifted himself from the ground.

"Tout le monde!" Scott called out for those already gathered in the general area. "Everybody!" He then went on to bark, providing the meaning of the previously said words. It was essentially 'all the people', if explained word-for-word. However, for the time being, he would be announcing how to say simple and key phrases often utilized in French. The way the French spoke was specific, and if said incorrectly, often they would look down upon whoever had spoken up. It was true that they were quite snotty, often seen as elitist, or aristocratic. The Parisians were especially well-known for those two adjectives. Regardless, Mont was willing to teach those who wished to be taught. Foreign languages could be seen as essential, but they were also a way to be one step ahead of the rest. "Gather 'round. If ya wanna learn some French, then stay," he started off, leaning back until he eventually found himself seated, "If not, then get the hell out." He didn't bother sugar-coating his words, seeing as how he didn't care much if people preferred not to learn.

His head tilted up a bit, mostly so that he could peer over the other individuals in the area. "First off, some greetin's," Scott informed, giving a bob of his head in acknowledgement to his statement. "Hello is an obvious one to start off with. Salut, is 'hello'. You usually use it with friends, not in formal situations. Bonjour, is 'good day'. It can address just about everyone, if I'm bein' honest," Montgomery paused in case there were still others approaching, honey visionaries still surveying the area. He expected Ben to show up, seeing as how he could help him if he wanted to step in. Perhaps he'd let him take the reins for once.

righthook spoke another language too, but he didn't consider it very often. he wasn't exactly a native speaker but he knew it as well as he knew english despite the predominance of the anglican language in darkclan. still, at the call of 'everybody', the black tom would near the canine with a hint of curiosity in dark yellow eyes but mostly the belief that he was about to be ordered to do something. regardless of his higher rank when compared to scott, the tom still wouldn't question orders given to him. he wasn't really the type to give out instructions so...

    anyways.

    "huh. bonjour."

the tom attempted to repeat the sound, losing his brooklyn accent and pretty much butchering the french with a russian accent rather than his usual brooklyn one. funny how that worked, but he couldn't hear the mistakes he made because he had no grasp on the language. it was oddly familiar though, and he didn't mind it. still, eyeing the egotistical soldier, he lacked both judgement and passion in his stony yellow gaze. he didn't tend to be very readable regardless.

[fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; bordercolor=; width: 420px; margin-top: -6px;][justify][size=8]French? Who on earth would want to learn that? Everyone here spoke one language, so what need was there to learn another? Still, Bones found himself drawn over to the one giving the lesson, eyes slightly narrowed in curiosity. French. A language Bones had always heard about, but had never actually bothered to pay any attention to. He had picked up some Russian and even some Klingon from his time on the Enterprise, but he was a doctor, not a linguist.

Still curious but not wanting to appear desperately so, the silver fox took a seat nearby and watched with a dull expression. His mind, however, was working hard. Salut. Bonjour. So weird.

  • "Salut, mes amis. J'adore francais," Mothnose spoke in French, sitting down beside the small group. She'd learned a little French from her mother, but she was still fairly new at it.

Hemlock was curious, so he trotted over. French? How cool. The male settled down and listened, turning the phrases over in his mouth. Weird, but not hard.

He was fluent in Japanese and very little Latin (and of course English, as it was his native language), but that was it mostly. He didn't take the time to try and study other languages, since he was always busy doing something else, but today he didn't have much going on for him, so he decided that he could perhaps participate in the language session that was being held. Gil eventually made his way over and settled himself beside Hemlock, his tails lashing behind him.

"S... Salut." He had an hard time pronouncing it, and so, of course, Gilbert messed up. He only heard it once, so it was obvious that he wouldn't get it on his first try. Flushing faintly under his dark fur, Gilbert went on to try to do the other French greeting that had been explained. "Bon... jour." He sighed, already mulling over whether or not he should give up.
