PHYSICAL DISABILITIES A shocking discovery when Xena was little was that the child was slightly blind in her left eye. That however has not stopped her from achieving her goal.

— Xena was born to rich family who had made their living off the horse industry. When Xena was five, her cousin, Athena, had begun ice skating lessons at the age of ten. When Xena's aunt had taken her with her pick Athena up, they had arrived as she was finishing up her lesson. From that day, Xena was mesmerized by the art of figure skating.
— Her parents were less than thrilled when she told them that she wanted to skate like her cousin. Having had two children already pursuing a lifestyle with the horses, they tried to talk Xena into it. But as much as the girl loved the magnificent creatures her family owned, her small heart was set on figure skating.
— When Xena turned ten, her parents finally hired a teacher for the girl. Five years of her begging them for lessons had been enough for them to crack finally. The teacher they had hired was, in fact, Athena's teacher. The girls were thrilled to take lessons with each other. Their teacher, a kind woman named Alexandria, was glad to see the enthusiasm of Xena. She was persistent in her lessons and was eager to please, having never given up until her task was complete. Outside of lessons, Athena gave the girl tips to help her when they were simply just skating for pleasure.
— But not everything can turn out well. Three years later, Xena and her baby cousin, Apollo, were orphaned. Their parents and Xena's older brother and sister had been killed in a car crash one night, having left the two with eighteen year old Athena to babysit them. Athena quickly called their grandfather in the United States, begging him to return home to Greece. He gladly agreed to it, for the children's sake. Due to the death of her family, everything went to Xena but was handed to her grandfather due to the child's age. He picked up the reins of their family's business and worked to keep money coming in.
— Their grandfather kept Xena in her ice skating classes while Athena set out for a part time job to pay for her own. When Xena was fifteen, she was diagnosed with leukemia. She went through countless chemo treatments, fearing that her life was done for. But that wasn't so. God was clearly watching of her, for after a year of treatment, she back on her feet and back on the ice. She was soon at her first competition as well, finding her place in the figure skating world.
— Xena spent the next several years going to competitions and practicing. All the while, working up to the moment when she would reach the top. When her cousin Athena turned twenty-three, she finally dropped her lessons and hung up her skates in order to help their grandfather with the farm, leaving Xena to pursue her figure skating career alone. At the age of eighteen she finally has her chance. She had become one the greatest figure skaters in all of Greece. And now she has been selected to bring home the gold medal for her country. And nothing was going to stand in her way.
— When she turned twenty, Xena's skating career came to a halt when a horrid accident laid her up for several months. With her grandfather persisting that she not take the risk on damaging her leg again, Xena hung up her skating career. She moved to America where she met her friends and pursued a small time career as a waitress, continuing to skate for fun. Soon, rumors spread about her and her rich background, many claiming she was bribing men into bed at night. When her friend called, she gladly accepted in order to get away from the fuss.
