  • [fancypost borderwidth=0px; width: 450px][justify][size=10][font=georgia]Alysanne was sauntering around King's Landing, her pale lilac eyes taking on an unusually flat quality. The seal-point ragdoll had recently returned to Westeros after a few days in BlizzardClan territory and she hadn't been particularly excited to return. The reason she had left in the first place was because she had been assaulted by an Ironborn soldier and the young citizen was frustrated to discover that, upon her return, the rebels were no closer to making progress in deposing the tyrant Tessa Greyjoy who had murdered the former monarch, Blindlove Arryn, for the Iron Throne.

  • Jax knew nothing about murder, rape, pillaging, or anything that was going on around him. Sure, he witnessed it, but he didn't understand it. He was only four moons old, after all. All he'd been told by his father as that Blindlove was gone now and that Tessa was the new leader. So he didn't know this was bad; he was shielding from most of it thanks to his father. Stepping forward, the German Shepherd puppy spotted Alysanne and wagged his tail. "Hello, who are you? My name is Jax Lannister!"

  • [fancypost borderwidth=0px; width: 450px][justify][size=10][font=georgia]Alysanne turned, surprised to see such a young animal approaching her. Westeros' population had been in decline in the recent reigns and children had grown to be particularly rare. "I'm Alysanne Targaryen," she introduced herself politely, eyeing the young pup with a curious eye. "Are you Ace Lannister's son, Jax?" Although Westeros had dramatically shrunk in population size, house Targaryen had predictably remained one of the larger houses with house Greyjoy and house Lannister close behind. All of the other houses - house Arryn, house Baratheon, house Stark, house Tyrell, and the like - seemed extinct for the time being.

  • Jax wagged his tail as the female introduced herself. Alysanne? That was a pretty name - not one he'd heard before. As she inquired about his father, the young pup nodded his head eagerly. "Yepyep, Ace Lannister is my father!" he declared. "It's a pleasure to meet you Alysanne," he added, almost as an afterthought. He didn't really know anything about conversations. He understood that some things were polite and other things were rude, he was old enough for that. But he didn't understand half the things that others said were important in a conversation. Why should he have to say that it's a pleasure to meet somebody? Shouldn't that just be, well, assumed? But all petty details aside, he loved to meet new people and loved to have conversations. "I don't see very many people around anymore," he said softly, "So I hope we can be friends!"

  • [fancypost borderwidth=0px; width: 450px][justify][size=10][font=georgia]Ah, hadn't the Small Council member been married once? To a certain Shira Stark? Well Alysanne certainly didn't see a Shira Stark around Westeros and so she could not help but presume that Jax was born a bastard. No matter - most animals were bastards, both her father and grandmother included. The social stigma had faded away with time and exposure to the rest of the clans whose beliefs were vastly different from those of traditional Westerosi.

"I feel the same way," the Ragdoll cat remarked, a polite smile forming at the corner of her small mouth. "And I hope so too," she agreed, her head nodding as she spoke. How could you turn down a child's plead for friendship? Not that Alysanne would have rejected him had he not been a child. "So how old are you, Jax? Have you been living in Westeros with your father for long?" She wondered if he had been born inside the kingdoms, or if he had been born outside, somewhere else, like she had been.
    [hr]

  • Jax nodded his head toward the second question. "I'm four moons old and I've lived here my entire life!" he declared. "I don't really remember my mother though," he said, sort of sadly. The NPC hadn't been around so he wasn't sure if she was dead or not. Frosty would have to ask Maple what happened to her. But he was with his father, so that was all that mattered and all he cared about. "What about you, miss?" he inquired. "Who are your parents?" He didn't know many Targaryens, but he also didn't know many in Westeros well...at all.

  • [fancypost borderwidth=0px; width: 450px][justify][size=10][font=georgia]"Four rather exciting months, huh?" Jax would have been alive to witness the end of Blindlove Arryn's reign and the start of Tessa Greyjoy's - which had been brought about by the murder of the previous monarch. Alysanne herself would say that she had grown up outside of Westeros, far away under the care of her parents, but that wasn't entirely true - at least it had not been the childhood of Sweetophelia Targaryen. "Ah," she blinked, frowning slightly when Jax grew visibly sad at the reminder of his faceless mother. But hopefully Ace Lannister would have been a good father to him - she hardly knew the Master of Alliances but he seemed friendly enough.

"Me?" the Ragdoll cat blinked. Well, the old ways of the Targaryens were still regarded with some distrust so she did not feel comfortable disclosing the full story to him. "My father is Ser Lucerys Targaryen - he was a knight before he left Westeros and he is Jaehaerys' twin brother." Her mother was Malaella Targaryen, another knight and Lucerys' beloved half-sister - it was not the typical romance, outside of Targaryen tradition. "Perhaps my father knew yours." She wasn't sure - Lucerys had never been happy in Westeros, deeply offended by the distrust shown to house Targaryen during the former High King Coriolanus Lannister's reign.
    [hr]

  • Jax listened intently as she explained who her father was. Well, she pointedly left out who her mother was. The young German Shepherd pup did not miss that fact, but he was certainly not one to pry. His own mother had left Westeros long ago, shortly after he was old enough to eat solid food. Ace had been the solitary parent for most of Jax's life and he didn't know of any siblings he could possibly have. "Oh maybe, my father is pretty well known," he murmured softly, deep in thought. Had they known each other? Ace seemed to know everybody. He held his father up on a pedestal. Ace could do no wrong in his eyes and was practically a God.

"What's it like to be a Targaryen?" he suddenly inquired. "Being a Lannister means being powerful, I guess, but I don't feel powerful. My father is though, maybe I'll grow big and strong like him!" the pup declared. He aspired to be just like his father. He wanted to grow into a position of power just like Ace, to eventually see his father as King of Westeros would be great too. That would make him the heir, right? That'd be exciting!

  • [fancypost borderwidth=0px; width: 450px][justify][size=10][font=georgia]"He's been around for a long time, hadn't he? Since Eurydice Targaryen held the Iron Throne," she remarked. Possibly even before that, although Alysanne certainly hadn't been around for that time. Sweetophelia Targaryen had seen Ace Lannister a few times before though, during her mother's reign, although it was not certain if the two had ever formally met. "Hmm?" the Ragoll cat blinked, considering his abrupt question. "It's nice having a supportive family," she spoke slowly. "Although, admittedly, I'm only really close to Jaehaerys." Her son and uncle - as Sweetophelia and as Alysanne. "Do you have any siblings, Jax?" She was sure that he did - Ace had been married once but regardless bastards were common in both Westeros and outside.
    [hr]

  • Jax nodded. "He's been around a while, yeah!" Though Jax did not know how long he'd actually been around, he knew it was a while. However, when the question of his siblings popped up, he shook his head. "No, I don't. I'm an only pup. My mom took off and all I have left is my dad," he said. His ears and tail drooped as he said this. He was kind of lonely after all.

  • [fancypost borderwidth=0px; width: 450px][justify][size=10][font=georgia]"Ah," Alysanne blinked. "I'm sorry to hear that." Bastards were common everywhere - Sweetophelia had been a bastard herself but Alysanne had had the fortunate to have been born from the legal marriage of Lucerys and Malaella Targaryen who had also happened to genuinely love one another. "You know, I was an only child too," she remarked, a faint smile growing on her mouth. "Sometimes it was lonely but I discovered that having friends could be just as fun as siblings - after all, you don't get to choose your blood relation but friends are the family you choose." It was more than a little cliche but Jax was a child and Alysanne certainly didn't want to see the young pup sad and frowning.
    [hr]

  • Jax felt sombered by the realization that he was alone. The pup was usually chipper and hyper; certainly he couldn't let his aloneness deter that. As Alysanne mentioned that you could pick your friends who could possibly grow to be close as family, he nodded though only slightly. "I don't really have friends either. None of the adults really wanna mess around with me cause I'm young," he murmured softly. But he allowed a small smile to creep back over his features. "I don't know many children around here; but I'm certain they have to exist."

  • [fancypost borderwidth=0px; width: 450px][justify][size=10][font=georgia]"Everyone here is pretty dour, huh?" Nothing like BlizzardClan or RiverClan where Alysanne had actually felt happy and lively. It was only her devotion to Jaehaerys and his cause, and her promise to Lucerys that bounded her to Westeros now. "Diana Targaryen is still fairly young though - seven months old, I believe?" As Sweetophelia, she was Diana's great-aunt thanks to Tsubodai's daughter's decision to adopt her, and as Alysanne she was the Squire's adoptive cousin, seeing as Lucerys and Elysaerys were half-siblings both sired by Tsubodai. "Have you spoken to her, Jax?"
    [hr]

  • Jax shook his head. "I'm not sure we've met," he answered. The pup gazed about, as if almost expecting this Diana person to suddenly show their face to him. He hardly knew everybody in Westeros, but he was learning their names and faces. "Perhaps I will have to seek her out," he added, stretching out his back.

  • [fancypost borderwidth=0px; width: 450px][justify][size=10][font=georgia]"Yes, I'm afraid I don't speak to her all that often but I promise you that she's still around," Alysanne remarked, her dark ears flicking. Diana Targaryen was a child in a way Alysanne no longer felt herself to be, and despite the fact that they shared the same family name, Alysanne didn't consider the Squire to be a friend - to be fair, they were but strangers - and she wasn't even certain she liked the other female very much. "She's a Squire, like you, so perhaps you two could train together sometime."
    [hr]

  • Jax nodded his head. "That'd be nice. Have you traveled much of the territory?" he inquired of Alysanne, tipping his head to the side. He hadn't traveled much of it himself. He'd only just started going around - because his father had kept him at Casterly Rock for a while.

  • [fancypost borderwidth=0px; width: 450px][justify][size=10][font=georgia]"I've stayed at Dragonstone and King's Landing in the past yes," confirmed Alysanne, nodding slightly. Once she had been born and raised up at the Red Keep but now she alternated between residences in both Dragonstone and King's Landing. "I've not ventured north, south, or west. But what of you, Jax?" As a member of house Lannister, the young Squire surely would have been brought up in the Westerlands.
    [hr]

  • "Just King's Landing and Casterly Rock. My dad doesn't want me exploring all over on my own. I try to explore a bit more now that I'm older though," he explained. When he was only three moons old, he wasn't allowed to leave Casterly Rock. Now he was almost five moons old and getting stronger and stronger. He was capable of traveling now, but he tried to have an adult with him if he left Casterly Rock.
