Matthew Watson. He was a man of many issues and no matter how he tried to avoid them, his mistakes would always come back to haunt him as constant reminders of all of the times that he had fu.ked up in his life. It was horrible to think about and he did his best to try and forget everything. To try and forget everyone. The male stumbled slightly, so caught up in the disorder of thoughts that were currently raging on inside his mind that he failed to take in what was around him. He took the brief break in thoughts to look around and realised that he was no longer in the familiar surroundings of Sunclan that he had been slowly but surely adjusting to. He was prone to wandering but this was now becoming quite a dangerous habit for him, especially since he now lived somewhere where they tended to have quite a few enemies as well as allies. It would be enough to put any one else on edge but not him. In fact, he was rather calm about it all despite how nervous he tended to be. He was an odd being really. Many things phased him but for some reason, being lost did not. It was strange but whilst aimlessly wandering, it helped him to feel more at peace with himself unlike when he was surrounded by familiar faces. Groups were blurred for him and solitude was crystal clear clarity. It was bizarre. No. He was bizarre and that was just the way that he loved it.

"I've been working on the rail road, all the live long day. I've been working on the rail road, just to pass the time away" the male hummed, breaking out into soft song as he continued to walk once more. He was uncharastically cheery, especially considering the fact that he was currently lost in a foreign land.

  • [justify]Hearing the tune instinctively prompted Matthias to begin humming the tune as well. "Can't you hear the whistle blowing..." he picked up, suddenly realizing that he was no longer alone out in the forest. Who was that? The voice wasn't familiar, and Matt wasn't particularly keen on encountering strangers. He began to walk towards the sound of the perpetrator, which seemed like the opposite of what he felt he should be doing, and was surprised to see a relatively normal looking guy. His brow furrowed in confusion and he stood in the way of the other Matt. "What are you doing here?" The question lacked the normal silkiness and flexibility that was often present in the male's tone; instead, it held a sort of stiffness and a touch of hostility. He wasn't great at being intimidating, but he liked to think that he could be.

    "And stop that singing."

  • [align=center][fancypost bgcolor=;border:0;width:450px;text-align:justify;font-size:8pt]
//i feel like it's going to be matt and other matt
matthias being matt and matthew being other matt

His singing was abruptly cut off as he caught an apparent mirroring of his words. The male came to yet another halt, the familiar stinging sensation spreading across his paw pads as he stopped to glance around in cautious intrigue. "Hmm, what am I doing here? Not sure, really. I was merely wandering in Sunclan one moment and the next moment found myself here." he hummed, his words coming out almost political and literate although they were put against a jesting tone as he addressed Matt. The brown tabby's fictional brows quirked up slightly as he regarded the unfamiliar face with both intrigue and silent nervous caution. He had no idea who this being was and also had no idea what they were capable of. He had every right to be on edge however, he had to take it into consideration that the other male may think the same things of him. Although Matt was pretty harmless unless he was provoked to a certain extent, no one was to know that upon first meeting him. In a world where even mere children had destructive abilities and were able to blow lives apart, he knew that it would be strange for one to not be wary of a stranger.

His ears perked slightly as he listened further to the other male's words, tilting his head to the side in an almost canine like manner as he paused briefly to once again regard the apparently hostile male before him. He was not phased though and merely continued to smile lightly in their direction before he piped up once more. "Oh? Was that you that reflected my song? How sweet of you, I appreciate it. No one sings along anymore" he added after catching the remark about him stopping his singing. His whiskers quivered in mild amusement after he spoke and his lips parted, a small little chuckle resonating from his throat. "Ah, I'm Matt, by the way. You didn't ask but I felt it was appropriate for me to introduce myself anyway. And you are?" he said lightly, his words accompanied by a light swish of his fluffy brown tail, crystal blue eyes not moving from the other male as he spoke to them.

  • [justify]// matt 1 & matt 2 hAHA

"This isn't SunClan," the stocky feline replied, brow still furrowed as he sized the other brown tabby up and down. Wow, nice observation, Matt. He wasn't really sure what he was supposed to do. Was he expected to defend himself and his territory? Or was he just supposed to let the guy off with a warning? Was he even supposed to do anything? Whatever, Matthias didn't really care -- let someone else deal with it.

His frown deepened at the amusement in Matt's voice -- so he definitely wasn't doing a stellar job at being intimidating. Matthias found himself slightly taken aback once the tabby began his introduction. Another Matt? Even though only Lunae called him Matt, it was still odd hearing someone with (almost) the same name was him. Was this guy's full name Matthias as well? Or was it something else? Maybe it was just Matt. "I guess I'm Matt, too." You guess? He's gonna think you don't know your own name. "But most call me Matthias." Since this guy seemed to pose no immediate threat, the brown and white feline decided to lower his guard. "Do you need any help getting home?"

  • [align=center][fancypost bgcolor=;border:0;width:450px;text-align:justify;font-size:8pt]
//hOLY S HI T THEY'RE BOTH BROWN AND WHITE CATS TOO
I DIDN'T NOTICE AT FIRST AND NOW I'M CRYING

"What? I thought something was off around here," Matt replied as he turned his gaze elsewhere, looking around with his lips parted in faux shock. It was not that his intimidation act was not daunting because he was sure that if it was anyone else then it would have been extremely off putting however, he tended to just laugh in the face of negativity or hostility. That, along with his lanky appearance and chipper tone of voice, was something that often lead to bad encounters which sometimes left him getting beaten up. He tended to mock others as a way to manipulate his fear into forced courage and it tended to work until the other got fed up with his wise ass way of speaking. He hoped that this would not end in such a negative way, especially since he could tell right off the bat that this guy was rather interesting. They seemed to be opposite in personality yet even with the brief words that they had currently exchanged, he could see that they somewhat complimented each other. It would be a shame if he ticked the other male off to the point that he would get injured but he knew that was a potential option. Honestly, he would hit himself too. He was quite irritating when he wanted to be but that was mainly an act. A facade made up to plaster over the wide range of cracks and splits that had been carved into his skin.

He let out another light chuckle although this time it was much more of a full on laugh than his initial little giggle. "Matt and Matt huh? Nice. You can call me Matthew then, if Matt is too weird for you to say to someone else" he chirped in response with another rather theatrical swish of his tail, crystal blue gaze returning to cautiously study the other male although, as he took note that the other male had also let his guard down slightly, he did the same and relaxed his apparently tense muscles. He was far from a threat himself and he doubted that Matt here was much of a threat to him at the moment so there was no point in keeping up false hostility when it was not needed. "Help would be appreciated but I wouldn't mind sticking around for a little bit. It's not every day that you meet someone with practically the same name as you, Matthias" he proclaimed, making sure to state the other male's full name as if to punctuate his words. Although he was Matthew and the other feline was Matthias, they nearly had the same names and went by the same nicknames so he would eagerly cling onto the moment for as long as he possibly could.

  • [justify]// they were made to be BESTIES!!!!!! The Matts™ also i apologize my muse doesnt match urs ive been on hiatus for like 3 months

Matthias decided not to comment on the sarcasm that stemmed from his skinnier, green-eyed counterpart -- there was no point in irritating him, he seemed like someone that Matt could certainly befriend. Not only that, but Matthias was missing the majority of his claws and probably couldn't do much damage to the other tomcat, anyways. Were their groups enemies? He had no idea. Truly, he didn't care; the whole business of enemies and allies seemed like a load of nonsense to him. That being said, he had heard some pretty nasty things about the Exiles, but he doubted that SunClan was even half as bad as them (if their clans even were enemies, that is). With a small grunt, Matt seated himself and curled his tail around his paws, brown eyes still focused on Matt number two. They had the same name, they looked almost identical, were they dopplegangers? It sort of seemed that way, now didn't it? What if they were long lost brothers? Strange.

He shrugged his shoulders, a light smile crossing his features. "I don't mind. If you ask me, it's pretty cool." At least they weren't in the same clan -- jeez, that would definitely get confusing. "I don't mind at all, just make sure you don't run into anyone else.. they probably won't be as laid back as me." The majority of his clanmates were also much bigger than domestic felines, so Matthew probably wouldn't want them to find him. Quickly jumping to his paws, Matthias flicked his tail in a motion for the other male to follow. They might as well walk while they talked, yes? "So, Matt, what's SunClan like?"

  • [align=center][fancypost bgcolor=;border:0;width:450px;text-align:justify;font-size:8pt]
//their best friendship was destined from the very start they're ½ of the matt dopplegangers
i think that is so bizarre though that they are nearly complete dopplegangers of each other from their nicknames to their appearances. It's such a strange coincidence. And that's fine, welcome back by the way. For some reason, even though I literally only made matt today, I have a ton of muse for him for some reason & excuse mistakes, it's 1:06am and i'm going to get to sleep now whoops

He was grinning lightly at this point as he watched Matthias sit himself down, silently glad that the other male had not taken it upon himself to kick his skinny ass all around the surrounding area for his joking sarcasm. He could not deny that he liked Matt's way of doing things. He was blunt but not too sharp, only holding up some sort of hostility for a few moments before deciding against it after handling things calmly. It was reassuring really. Matthew, himself, had no strong loyalties to clans and groups. His loyalties lied with physical beings. Groups could not give him anything back, they as a whole could not all provide him with what he needed and a group as a whole could also not give him loyalty back. Groups could be twisted into things like civil war and there was no guarantee that every single member of his current home would actually like him. Therefore, he had come to the conclusion that loyalties with other living beings were much better. That was not a recent hypothesis that he had reached however, since he had joined Sunclan it had been playing on his mind a lot more than he would ever proclaim aloud. Even if Matt's home were hostile towards his home, he would not care about that. He had not been around when the negativity first arose and saw no reason to be a part of it if he had not been part of the moment.

He could imagine the pure havoc that they would be able to wreak if they both resided in the same home. Both being called Matt and both having similar, nearly the same, appearances meant that various situations of confusion could occur. A wickedly delighted little twinkle sparked in his crystal blue orbs as the thoughts crossed his mind. It sounded fun although he knew that it would most likely end in bickering and arguments, negativity aimed towards the duo. He had gone through enough of that and would not wish to be the cause of such things being hurled towards another being, especially a feline wh he could potentially befriend. He would just have to watch his mouth a bit and pay attention to what was being said to him. That would not be too difficult. "I'm sure we can avoid any hostiles in the area." he said, words imitating that of an army officer like how he had heard them speak on the televisions and such before he had integrated himself into group life. He let out a rumbling chuckle, throat vibrating slightly as he did so, ears twitching as Matt rather suddenly jumped to his paws and gestured for him to follow. The brown and white tabby flicked his tail, curiosity apparent in his expression as he pursued the other male, listening in as they spoke once more. "Well, Matt, Sunclan isn't bad. I haven't been there for long but I've met quite a few members that live there so far and it's pretty diverse, if I do say so myself. We've got everything from kitsune to rodents" he chirped in response with a flick of his tail, grin reforming as he spoke of the place that he now had taken to call his home. He briefly shut his eyes, recounting the events that had occurred thus far in his clan life as he walked along. He subconsciously made sure to sync his steps up with both his heartbeat and Matt's own pawsteps before he spoke up once more. "What about you and where you live? I don't really know much about any of the other groups about" he added after a moment's pause, casting his intrigued gaze over to his apparent doppleganger with a friendly expression settling across his features.

  • [fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; overflow: none; width: 480px;][justify]// ty! & omg i know right?? i only made matt yesterday that's crazy maybe we're dopplegangers irl sleep well! ;^)

Was SunClan a pro-clan? Anti? Neutral? He wasn't sure, he was rather uneducated on SunClan.. but depending on their stance, perhaps they would allow him to visit Matt. After all, Matthias did expect to stay in touch with the peculiar tom. Despite their physical similarities, their personalities held contrasting aspects. It was relieving -- had they been exactly the same, Matt would have been a bit startled by the coincidence. With a nod at Matt's first statement, the brown tabby perked his ears as he listened to him continue on about SunClan. A chuckle escaped him as Matt repeated the emphasis of his name. Ah, so his homeland also held a unique array of members? That was intriguing, the Elite didn't sound too different (in that aspect, at least). "What's a kitsune?" Matthias asked, hoping that that wasn't a commonly known species. He had not grown up around any strange animals, only the typical dogs, cats, rats, and all that jazz. A kitsune sounded.. exotic.

Then came the inquiry about his home. There wasn't much to say about the Elite, truly. It's reputation preceded it. "The Elite sounds more daunting than it truly is. Not to say I don't like it, because I do, but I thought it would be a little bit more.. exciting. Truthfully, the members are rather dull. However, I have a second alliance with BloodClan. That place is more my speed -- the girls are all stunning." Matt grinned at that. "Very nice bunch, too." His mind flashed to Amour and Duskmire, they were his two favourite BloodClanners, so far.

Since he and Matt seemed rather similar, Matthias couldn't help but wonder if their personal lives were similar as well. "Do you have any family? Friends? A girlfriend? Boyfriend?" Hey, he didn't discriminate. Hopefully that didn't seem too forward, Matthias didn't want his newfound friend to think that he had ulterior motives, especially when the two knew very little about each other. He was just curious; it wasn't every day that you met a fellow who looked almost exactly like you and possessed the same name. Besides, in all fairness, Matt could ask him the same questions and he wouldn't have any problem answering them.

  • [align=center][fancypost bgcolor=;border:0;width:450px;text-align:justify;font-size:8pt]
//lmao, imagine that. now that would be bizarre. && thanks, i went to sleep at one and woke up at 9 still, i don't understand my mental clock ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Matthew was sure that there would be no issues with this Matt visiting him. After all, thus far he had found that he fellow Sunclanners were quite the friendly bunch and if someone was there to see him he doubted that they would be too defensive, especially if Matt arrived and made it clear that he had no ill intentions with both Sunclan and himself. Despite them having alternating personality, unlike Matt, he was quite surprised with the odd coincidence. It was too good to be true really and deep down he was silently praying that this was not some sort of dream. Even if it was, he would not want to wake up because he was quite enjoying himself. It was nice to talk with someone outside of his current home without the fear that they were going to lash out and harm him.

Of course, that fear was there however, unlike any other occasions where things like this had occurred, it was not open and lingering in his mind. He was not the most trusting yet here he was, conversing with another as if they were old friends or something. "I can't say that I know what it feels like to be surrounded by dull beings seeing I have apparently found myself among quite a colourful group of individuals myself. Bloodclan however, sounds quite fierce and interesting. Just out of curiosity, if I was to, you know, decide to swing by out of the blue, where would you prefer me to come to? Not saying that I plan on spontaneously paying you a visit, I'm just asking, um, hypothetically" he hummed, with a little grin slowly spreading. He was quick to raise his paw and cover his mouth slightly, stifling any stray giggles after he spoke and he also made sure to avert his gaze from the other male's face. He was about as obvious as a banshee screeching at this point but he liked to believe that he was still being sneaky about his words.

He flicked his ear slightly, breaking out of his thoughts as Matt addressed him once more, turning his head so he could stare with silent interest at the other male before providing an answer.. "A kitsune is like a fox but with multiple tails. They're creatures of mythology and most, if not all of them, look beautiful. They're not that common around here in this world" he explained, mind tracing back to the thoughts of Sera and his scrambled memories from books that he had read in his past. They had always been things that had intrigued him to to actually see one was almost like a dream come true for the feline. Then there were more questions and he was quick to prepare answers as the other male stated his various inquiries about Matt's personal life. He was pretty much an open book so he did not mind spilling any information about himself, in fact, it was nice to have someone to talk with about such things.

"Family. Nope, lost them some time ago now. Same with friends although I've made a few acquaintances over in Sunclan now. Can I class you as a friend now? Eh, I'm going to anyway. Let me repeat that. I have some acquaintances back home and one friend called Matthias" he chirped with a friendly little grin parting his lips as he briefly fixed his crystal blue orbs onto the brown and white feline beside him before he pressed on with his words. "Girlfriend? Nope, I haven't been in a relationship for a while now. Boyfriend. Um, same thing really" he felt his stomach lurch slightly despite his confident manner of speaking. He had not really been in a relationship however, he could not deny the overwhelming feelings that he had felt. It had been too strong to be nothing but that was over now. They were gone along with everyone else that he had every loved and been close to in his life. "What about you? Have you got adoring friends and family and a loving partner?" he hummed, gaze set straight as he spoke, words finished with a light swish of his fluffy tail as he fell into a comfortable silence, patiently waiting for the other male's response as he continued to walk.

  • [fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; overflow: none; width: 480px;][justify]// daylight savings ended so clocks went an hour back! so i guess u TECHNICALLY woke up at 10 ; )

Matthias, on the other hand, was relatively trusting. He wasn't paranoid that everyone was out to get him, he didn't think they had bad intentions, and he was rarely suspicious of his clanmates - or anyone else for that matter - unless given sufficient reason. That didn't mean that he would start making a habit of befriending strangers in the forest, though. A humorous smirk crossed his face at Matt's 'hypothetical' situation. "You'd have better luck finding me in BloodClan," he answered thoughtfully. "Hypothetically, of course." The fit of stifled giggles was amusing, as was the fact that Matt seemed to think his question sounded purely hypothetical.

As he went on to answer what a kitsune was, Matthias found himself enthralled by the imaginative picture that began to form in his mind. At first, it was just an ordinary fox, but then it blossomed into some sort of a supreme being. A mythological creature? Well, it couldn't be purely myth if Matt lived with them, right? His image of a kitsune was something that was absolutely beautiful. A lithe, slender fox, it's many bushy tails encircling it, protecting it. It held sort of a godly stature to Matthias, something that was so rare and alluring -- how could such a being possibly exist? "They sound wonderful," the tomcat murmured somewhat dreamily. Matthias would have absolutely loved to meet a kitsune.

Then, Matt went on to discuss his personal relationships. He had lost his family, lost his friends, and now, a few acquaintances, and one friend called Ma- oh, that was him. A grin that matched Matt's would dance across his features as well at the comment -- it was nice to be considered a friend. His romantic life was just as scarce as his social one, it seemed, which there was nothing wrong with. Adoring friends, family, and a loving partner? If only. "It seems we're in the same boat when it comes to being social. I've made a few acquaintances in BloodClan, not so much the Elite. You're my first mutual friend. And, no, I haven't committed myself to anyone just yet, either." He did have a few people in mind that he might have been interested in pursuing, but Matt wasn't too keen on delving into that.

They walked on in silence for a bit more, Matthias was overall just enjoying the beauty of the woods. The piles of red, gold, and orange leaves that lay pitifully at the foots of the trees they had once clung to, the bare trees that shivered in the cool autumn breeze as if they were aware that they no longer had a blanket to cover them. Matt fluffed his fur out against the chill, as he had noticed that it had begun to nip at him, and he turned to Matt once more. "Is it always sunny in SunClan?" The brown and white tabby wondered if he had been asked that many times.

  • [align=center][fancypost bgcolor=;border:0;width:450px;text-align:justify;font-size:8pt]
//oh yeah! i forgot about that cx

"Ah, I'll keep that in my hypothetical mind" he said, realising that what he had said would imply that he had no mind and he was quick to open his mouth and add to his words in case the other male twisted it into a joke against him. "My mind is pretty real though. And yeah, kitsune are quite majestic creatures. I thought they only existed in folklore and story books, boy was I wrong" he added with an embarrassed swish of his fluffy tail, casting his gaze onto the fallen leaves under his paws as he spoke up. He let out a little gasp, grinning in over dramatic excitement as the other male replied to his returned question. "Well, we're both each other's first friends now. How cool" he chirped with a happy little giggle, the childish sound ringing out into the forest as he turned to beam at the other brown and white tabby. His ears twitched somewhat as the other male mentioned his romantic status. "Yet" he echoed, turning his head forwards as he gazed at the path before them, mind whirling as the word consumed his thoughts. It was the same with him really although he was unsure of whether their entire reasoning was the same. He was not searching for someone to fall head over heels with because he had suffered loss to the point where he saw no point in doing so. Not yet anyway. But, from the word yet, it was easy to infer that he would eventually consider falling in love again. Just not so soon.

He loved autumn. He was quick to change the topic currently blazing in his mind as he focused his attention onto the leaves surrounding them. The way that the bright green leaves burned up in auburn flames and then proceeded to cascade down upon him in burnt out embers. He breathed a content sigh, pausing in his tracks to close his eyes as he did so. When the crystal blue optics reopened he watched as his breath, in the form of a visible vapour, danced skywards. It twirled into nonexistence, carried by the soft autumnal breeze. His ears perked slightly as Matt addressed him and he looked over to the other brown and white feline who had continued walking when he had come to an abrupt halt. He flicked his tail, a little smile consuming his youthful features once more before he broke into a light trott, nearing the other male once more before he took the chance to respond to their rather logical inquiry.

"Unfortunately, no. I wish that it was always sunny but nope, we get hit with showers, thunderstorms and chilling winds pretty often. But that is quite rare seeing we live in a tropical location." he replied, tilting his head to the left as he thought about his answer. He had not lived there long although he had noticed the shifting weather patterns already."What about your homes? At least one of them has to be quite sunny right? I bet Bloodclan has blood rain every year and they all bathe in it or something" he purred, whiskers quivering in mild amusement as he spoke, the ritualist depiction of the clan imprinting itself into his mind as he spoke about it. It was enough to allow a warm expression to return fully to his vibrant features as he thought more in depth about the scenario that he was imagining in his mind.
