Aki didn't pay attention to anything. His face remained hidden and unreadable, too focused on his own thoughts.... The boy stood still and tense, refusing to be snapped back to life. He could only think of before... Usually, he would run away for solitude and thought. But Aki was frozen. He felt numb. Not only that, he couldn't leave Dakota and Era. He was lost and his disguised face was hidden by the shadow of the blood-red hood that sat upon his head. Aki stood blankly forward with his head tilted and slim fingers twitching intensely by his sides.[/fancypost]

    At the boy who staggered near them, Era gaped at him. She had seen him before, of course, as she was often walking and patrolling the streets of the town. He was only a blaze, of course, but he was often in the poorer side of town, picking food and items off of the market stands. She had seen him do it several times, but she had purposefully ignored it each time. It was survival and it was mercy.


    When the guards came near, she backed up a step or two, holding her breathe that was already shaky. Pulling her cloak over her face as much as possible, she casually slipped around the side of a nearby shack. It wasn't against any rules for her to be out and about this late, but almost all of the guards knew her. Knew that she didn't make friends. Knew that she didn't ally with anyone but herself. Knew that if they figured out was hidden around that corner, she'd only get questions for it. Questions about both Aki and Dakota, questions about her that she didn't want to answer.


    When they left, she blew out the breath she had been holding, clasping her shaky hands inside her cloak, she emerged and didn't meet either of Dakota or Aki's eyes. Bowing her head once, she nodded to Aki, meeting his fiery stare with her own, cooler, one. "They are undeniably idiots—", flashing a smile, she continued, "but also very fooled. What you did for the boy just now... it was good."


    At Dakota's comment, Era bristled, her muscles tensing up even more, if that had been even possible. "You sure are a blunt character, aren't you?" Taking a deep breathe and avoiding Aki's eyes as she continued, her practiced clarity and venom slipping into her words, "I wouldn't be so quick to assume, either. Aki may like you, that I can't decipher, and even though I have to admit that I..." she trailed off, grinding her teeth gently. It had been obvious what she had wanted to say, but decided against it. It was true, even though she had known Aki for only so long, she was captured by his own mysteriousness and secrets, just as she knew he felt for her, and maybe a little bit of his stunning eyes, the way they'd watch her occasionally. "It's not fixable."

    A group of maybe four boys rounded the corner, malicious smirks on their faces and daunting laughter on their lips. A cynical glint descended in the leader's eyes as he turned into the alleyway, beckoning his posse with him. "Hey!" He called, cracking down a lengthy wind of leather against the ground to catch his next victims' attention.


    "Hello lovebirds," he cooed, causing his boys to snicker behind him. "What his doing with MY dog?" He called, eyes narrowing at he gestured to the shaking collie behind him.

    OOC:in OutCast's post, it says that Aki could feel Era separate from them.


    Doesn't that mean that she left?


    Then it says that she is there again. What?!


    IM SO CONFUZZLED!!!

    Theo turned around in suprise at the crack of the whip, but she instantly settled seeing who it was. A bunch of younger wind elementals.
    "Oh haha, like I haven't heard that before.." she replied, stepping forward once.
    "I think we both know that it isn't your dog, and we both know what you're doing to it was wrong."
    Theo wasn't intimidated by the leader's whip. Only an animal would fear such a weapon, but of course, that's what he was doing: frightening animals.
    "Hurting animals.. What are you, five? This is a bigger world; we no longer step on ants."

    "Don't you get it, Doll?" The guy hissed, a smirk on his face. "It's a dog-eat-dog world." He took a lazy, confident step. "It's eat or be eaten." His gaze turned toward the animal cowering behind them. "If you want their to be order, and things to get done right, you have to do things yourself." Another step. "And sometimes, that means punishing little girls who don't contribute enough. Little girls who focus all of their time on their stupid animal rescue."


    His eyes narrowed, and his sickening smile dropped. "Now, get out of my way."


    "YOU GET AWAY FROM HIM!" Cried a new voice, a higher, feminine one. The figure landed not so gracefully, tumbling from the sky into two of the goons before racing past Theo and crying out, "Lincoln!" The poor, injured dog yipped and threw himself into the girl's arms, her face buried in his ruffled, tricolored fur.


    Now the head bully, a scowl on his face, scoffed. "You're pathetic," he growled. "You don't do anything but sit and read to your stupid animals all day. You don't even have any powers!"


    It was visible the black haired girl with the strange contraption on her back flinched, but she just sat still, holding her dog close to her, and stroking his back, whispering comforting things.


    Now he turned to Theo and Pierce. "And you two," he continued, pointing his whip at them. "What's your problem? Beat it! You don't have any business here." Purplish-blue eyes turned to look at the two strangers before her, wondering why he had gotten upset with them... Had they... Tried to protect Linc?


    The head idiot pointed his chin at his companions before jerking it in the direction of the young girl and her dog, taking arrogant strides, his pawns, whom had been muttering obscenities under their breath since they got bowled into, cracked their knuckles as they approached, none of them expecting anything from either of the two whom were now behind them.


    After all... No one had stood up for their favorite play toy, before. What should they have to worry about?

    I think they meant that she was mentally separate. Like, she was drifting away mentally. Maybe because a rift of emotion between her and Aki.

Yes it was figurative language. He said that physically, too. Aki meant that it hurt him emotionally if she actually left them physically, as if she were leaving him forever. But he felt better when she actually stayed.


    Ic: "Lets go." He declared with a quiet, deeper voice with his average tone that possessed a hint of croaking in it.. Aki didn't hear their conversation. None of their words caught his attention. They're distractions to me. His mind let the lie pace in his mind. In the pockets of his cloak, his fists tightened in argument. No, they aren't. They weren't distracting him. He was just being his kind self what some would consider weak. But he had a stronger and more loyal heart than them. The boy whipped around with an odd swiftness. His long legs quickened with hurry towards the marketplace. But thought clouded his eyes from shining, and frustration pinned his mouth into a frowning position. They were nearing the aisle of a wide, deserted, dirt path lined with aging, messy, small stores. Markets, of course. Hosted by peasants and other villagers. The outcast remembered when he came, he would by something but not for himself. He always paid a little more than the cost of the object. Aki could picture the sunny day of a busy dirt road full of crowding people. It almost made him smile.


    But his returning happiness wasn't based off that. His dimmed eyes spotted Era but flickered away quickly. He smiled a little for a moment at thought of her.... Their fiery eyes meeting time to time.. But he couldn't focus that much on her right now. Instead, he had to search for any open markets over night... [/fancypost]

    Theo frowned, her shaft piercing through the small crowd of boys, and pushing them as far back as she could, just enough to give her room to slip through and stand in front of the girl and her dog.
    "You are animals. You deserve to walk on all fours and eat of the Earth, having to fight for your food, your shelter. But even that's too nice.."
    She pointed the end of the dark shaft at them, its end a bright blue in contrast to the rest of the weapon.
    "Animals at least have a brain. The work for their food, and shelter. You are beasts. You steal from others, even if not for your survival, just for sport. Despite your human appearence, you snarl gnashed teeth and blink your ugly yellow eyes. No, you're not animals, you are monsters."
    Theodoshia gripped her weapon tighter, waiting for the response. She knew who these boys were, Breezes; maybe stronger than the girl begin her, but weaker than the Hurricanes of the granite castle.


    OoC: I'm sorry for your loss. Just remember, he's at peace now. I've lost alot of people, through both death and dumps. Also remember there's someone who'll be there for you.

She didn't say or do anything besides gazing at her boots until they neared the market place. Twisting to grab her pouch, she slipped a few gold and silver pieces into her hand.


    Once it had seemed that Aki had slowed down, she touched his forearm lightly before meeting his eyes, instantaneously meeting the warm fire in them, and murmuring, "I'm sorry." She prayed he knew what she had meant, about the conversation between her and Dakota moments earlier.


    OOC: Also, DiamondPuppy, I'm really sorry for your loss. In my Spanish class, this week we've been asked to build an altar for a loved one who passed away, to bring items they cherished, things they loved to do, pictures of them, it's always hard. But please know that it gets better, it always will. Like Aki said, it wouldn't even matter if nobody in real-life were there at any given time, we're always here.


    Don't worry about posting. We can just assume that Dakota stayed behind for some reason, like with, perhaps, Rosemary because the bunny was afraid of the village and would meet up again soon.

But before they reached it, he let a few words slip past his mouth. "Don't worry. I wasn't really listening, so I suppose I should apologize." He managed to whisper with a tone full of some exhaustion, but without meeting her gaze this time. Aki noticed they were talking, but didn't pay attention to the scene and conversation at all. Dakota seemed to stay behind, but he felt a pang of guilt leaving her to Rosemary. "Don't worry about paying, either." He forcefully insisted, already dropping a few coins on the market's shelf as they finally came up to it.


    An old, withered man shot up with surprise, his small, brown eyes popped open. He nodded and took the change, counted it, and looked back up at Aki. The boy looked down to Era, silently asking what she would want. He raised an eyebrow and smiled softly. A cool breeze of the night whisked and a few strands of red-brown hair that was silver from the moonlight flew over his face in front of his fiery eyes. All though it was a casual question, the outcast was caught in her gaze. No, it wasn't just that he refused to look away, he was unable to. But her blue eyes made his temper slow down intensely and get distracted in the daze.. He almost forgot about the market from getting lost in those glowing orbs of clear water. Why wouldn't he look away? Maybe because he was too stubborn to end the moment of hypnotism. His eyes closed halfway and his smile faded in distraction. The man was turned around and continuing to organize, paying no attention to them until they could speak.[/fancypost]
