    [justify]Dakota screamed as a slinky shadow came towards her, she woke up her animal friends because Hunter had jumped in front of her and started growling. She was sure that something was there, yet she couldn't see the shadow anymore. She ran outside to Aki. "Oh my goodness! I swear that I saw a dark shadow coming right towards me!" Dakota explained. She started to catch her breath, after being scared to death she needed some air.


    Her emerald green eyes starred into the dark starry night sky, her red orange hair flew as the wind blew it. "I don't know what that thing was, but I think it's out to get me..."[/justify]

Instantly, Aki was staring over at her. His body tensed up and he froze like ice. Finally, he managed to pace a little closer to the Beast. The boy knew exactly what had happened. "Are you okay?" He questioned with a worried tone in his voice.


    Aki received an instant headache. It was painful, cornering in his brain somewhere and slowly spreading like a virus throughout his head. "Ow.." He muttered after brushing his hand through his messy hair to hold onto his apex. But he shook it away. Obviously, a Shadow was nearby and messing with him. "We shouldn't be out here." He commented plainly, not even waiting for Dakota's reply. No. His smile faded and his skin struck pale, horrorstricken of the future. Not many people knew about the Shadows, they usually died before. But as oddly lucky Aki was, he survived a few experiences with the demons. "We need to be in a village. There aren't enough Spirits here." He commanded.


    It was unusual of him. His gentler personality at just the mention of Shadows. He was more like a general trying to get his troops to retreat. No, he was acting like he was trained to do as a king.


    Aki felt a darkness weep through his veins. Oh, he knew this feeling very well. It was agonizing. His eyesight blurred away and he felt as if he were numb. But he wasn't numb or frozen or anything, he was being controlled. His entire human figure turned into a silhouette of flames, his entire form converting into fire. No flesh or anything. This is what caused the Shadow to retreat. When it did, the power sunk back into his veins. "Let's head out. We can't be here." The command slipped past his lips almost instantly.


    Era was lucky she usually left that swing set before dark.[/fancypost]

She saw a girl running towards them before stopping. Red hair framed her face and there was no denying it, the aura around her was friendly, peaceful. One of the Beast element.


    Any hint of a smile or relaxed muscle on Era's face vanished. She wasn't sure, no, but it was clear Aki was. Startled at his sudden headache, she stepped a few steps forward cautiously, saying with distinct clarity, "Aki— Aki— what is it?" She didn't necessarily wait for an answer before twirling out two twin daggers. Yes, she was a Burner, and yes, she did have a considerable amount of power, but she had always preferred literal combat, but regardless, she felt as if in this situation, it was useless.


    "I just came from a village, it's not far. There's a rope there that can hoist us over the wall without causing too much suspicion. It's better not to awake and alert the townsfolk, they'd be more of a nuisance than a help," she pursed swiftly, her voice almost shaky, the only thing concealing it was her dignity and so-called 'act'.


    Her blonde hair stilled and she immediately knew that whatever took the wind away wasn't some guard, some psychopathic wanderer. In fact, not human nor beast.

That so called village is a camp area for my kingdom, if they find out that you two are fire elements, I am more than 1000% sure that they will kill you. And Aki, I'm fine, but are you?" Dakota clarified. She starred into Aki's firey eyes, she liked this feeling that she could feel. "I can help you if I know what's wrong, I know my herbs, I know my meds, I'll know how to heal you." She offered. She pulled a small piece of her red-orange hair behind her ear. Immediately regretting showing Aki that she might have liked his personality a bit too much.[/size][/justify]

They neared the Fire Element's gate but he paused to turn to Dakota. "Don't worry about me, I'm perfectly fine. It was only temporary. Anyway, we're going into the Fire Element's territory. They'll think you're an OutCast so you'll be fine." He said with a gentle voice and a sweet smile. It was odd and unusual for someone's mood to switch so quickly. But he needed to assure her that they were okay.


    As he hopped above the fence, he paused on top in a crouching position like a predator about to pounce. He hesitated atop and pulled the scarf back up the bottom half of his face and the hood over his head to hide his features. Going back into his old territory meant to cover who he really is. Relief flooded along with blaze and blood through his veins.


    Aki landed perfectly without stumbling, of course the fence wasn't too tall. He turned back to find Era and Dakota and threw out his hand, offering to assist them on climbing down the fence. "Here. The Shadow can't get us anymore." He tensed once again, regretting he even brought up the name. It sent a quick shiver up his spine but he kept his cool and bright smile. Throughout the darkness of the awakening night, his fiery eyes brilliantly glowed with intense color. He was an odd one.. But the fire was calm as they settled onto Era. Maybe it was just her appearance, he couldn't tell why. Finally, he allocated his gaze onto Dakota, and switched back and forth acting as if he were listening to casual conversing.[/fancypost]

Once Era saw that Aki concealed his face once again, it reminded her to do so to herself. Yes, they knew her identity and her appearance, but she still felt safer with her own hood up. Pulling her black hood over her head, her blonde flyaway hairs fluttering out, she nodded her gratitude at Aki and stepped back to allow the girl to go first as she adjusted the pouch that rested on her hip. "You go, whatever it was went for you, it's probably best you're over the wall quicker," she offered.


    There was a clang against the gates to the right and Era immediately tensed. A guard. And here, three people scaling a wall from the woods in the dead of night. Letting out a worried sigh, she furrowed her brows before stopping a guard in his tracks near the gate.


    The guard himself was tall, but his face was too sharp, too angular. "Who are you?" he asked, positioning himself to brush her out of the way.


    "Who do you think it is?" Era snapped, pulling back her hood. "There's something in the woods and I strongly suggest that you go back into the village and lock the gate. Nothing gets in, nothing gets out."


    The guard looked at her warily, teetering from toe to toe before retorting, "And why is your thought on the matter so important?"


    There was a pause before Era answered, her cool-toned eyes piercing through his iron headpiece, not bothering to lift her head the few inches to face him properly. "Because it might damn well save your life."


    There was a tense moment of silence before he nodded, grumbling, and slumbered off to do as she said.

Other than the feeling of safety from the Shadow, he felt sick returning home, even temporarily. Aki shook the weight of unease off his shoulders and helped Dakota back onto the ground. He gave her a small smile before reaching his hand out towards Era, waiting for her arrival after speaking to the guard. Only his right eye was visible and glowing through the shadows of night and his hood.


    "Come on." His gentle voice muffled a little through his scarf and seemed deeper than usual. "We just have to get over the fence then we're safe." He assured her with a kind tone. Oddly, he longed to grasp onto her hand and take her back to safety. Same with Dakota. But she was already by his side. Aki took another stop towards the fence. His cloak and the partiality of his hair that was visible rhythmically waved with the cool wind of night. [/fancypost]

    [justify]Dakota sighed. "I can't, I'm sorry, I just can't." She told Aki. She picked up Rosemary, went back over the fence, and climbed up a very tall tree and settled into a nest that she had made a few weeks ago. She cradled Rosemary and laid down. She would refuse to go to sleep unless Aki returned. She starred up into the starry night sky, seeing different stars and planets in the galaxy. She spotted a chinchilla and made friends with her. Dakota would name her Liliana. She, liliana, and Rosemary talked for a long time. She was just waiting for Aki to return. She wouldn't feel safe until he was here with her.


    Forced love was all she could think about. Her parents tried to force her to love some royalty Fire Element. But she could never be forced to love someone, she would rather kill herself. Then she'd see who'd care. Probably no one...[/justify]

She strode over to where Aki was holding out his hand and looked over her shoulder for a moment, scanning the trees, before returning his smile slightly, to reassure him just as much as he was reassuring her and the girl, lifting the hood back over her head and grasping his hand firmly. In a usual circumstance, she would have denied the help from anyone in fear of them luring her into a trap as well as to keep her pride, but she trusted Aki nonetheless and he'd already seen her without her whole act of intimidation.


    Shaking her head free of the thoughts, she planted her black boots firmly on a small jagged edge before hoisting herself up next to him, holding onto his hand for just a moment longer than necessary. She glanced solemnly at the breaking village, a feeling of longing for the peacefulness of the woods, but it wasn't peaceful anymore.


    She landed on the ground with a soft thud, her poise snapping into place, forcing her to land lightly and perfectly like a cat. Once she landed, her gaze drifted to the girl who climbed back over the fence, her own brows furrowed slightly. Swallowing, she stayed silent, though she had full sympathy towards her.

    ooc: don't worry, betrothal is a law. but not with another element ^^ They would have to cross territories and onto somewhere their element didn't belong. So just be sure if she's betrothed to anyone, it's an unrelated beast. But a good plot idea.


    Ic: What?? Why won't she come? Well I can't leave her. He was surprised Dakota didn't come with them. But he really couldn't leave her. At the same time, he stood on the other side of the fence. Where she was in the tree was almost right next to the fence, and he watched her cautiously just in case of another Shadow. "Fine. I'll stay here until morning." Aki would regret it for who knows how long if he abandoned her with Era. It was a decision, though. And it was Era's if she wanted to stay all together. Hopefully she would...


    Distractions. Yes. But Aki didn't care for his own life most of the time. He worried too much about others. His life was less valuable than theirs. At least, in his stubborn opinion. But the boy just leaned against the fence, staring at the Beast protectively. Dakota was similar to him... They shared the same kindness. But it was too perfect to ever be true.[/fancypost]

Era saw the worry and concern in Aki's face and couldn't help but nod. "The village really isn't that bad, everyone's asleep, truly, they wouldn't notice. Any guards can be dismissed like telling off a prairie dog," she clarified, her mouth twinging sideways in a small smile. "But we'll stay— even if it's until morning." Leaning against the fence lightly, she couldn't help but remember how serene the swing had been, what a delight it had been to have company for once, genuine company. Someone she didn't have to snap off every other sentence to make herself seem well. It was a hassle, day after day.

    Pierce trudged down the worn, beaten walkway, mentally cursing himself for taking the path that led to this particular village. He left his home for adventure, not dark, lonely, pointless journeying without a shred of direction.
    The added weight to my back certainly doesn't help either, he thought, feeling Henrietta shift around restlessly in his bag.


    Sighing audibly, he heard a sudden, quiet whimper under his own breathing, and turned his head hesitantly towards an alleyway, apparently abandoned other than a single girl trekking straight into it that seemed to share Pierce's curiosity.


    A sudden regain of the use of his legs sent Pierce whipping around to follow the girl, a grin plastered to his face.
    "Hey!" He called at her, closing the space between them with a quick jog until he was at her side.



    [justify]Dakota watched Aki watching her. When he turned away for a allot second something grabbed her and picked her up to carry her away. She tried to scream but the thing covered her mouth. Eventually, she found herself back at her castle. She bit the shadows hand, or well she tried to. Anyways, her parents walked in and smothered her in hugs and kisses. She pushed them off of here and jumped off her balcony edge.


    She landed on a tree branch, snatching her run away from home brag that she hid on a nearby branch. She made a bird call and Ace came to her. She jumped down from the branch and snuck out of the village. She ran for her life, getting as far away as she could. Bam!


    Dakota could see nothing, could feel nothing but pain. She assumed that she hit her head on the Fire Elements wall. Well that is just fantastic! Two times in a day. She lay there, blankly...[/justify]

    Ic: His eyes calmed at the close presence of Era as she leaned against the fence next to him. No, he wouldn't sleep. Aki remembered when he had only his brother to care about. He remembered when they were young boys when he couldn't sleep at all and go to Nyu's room. He'd welcome him in, and promise him to stay up and protect him from the imaginable monsters in Aki's mind. Even in the morning, his brother was awake. The younger boy would feel bad and force him to go to sleep and bring in a meal for the maids and for him. But now, he was the one staying awake to protect not one, but two people from a real monster. Hopefully, the two girls would give in to slumber. "I'll stay up." He whispered with a hoarse voice yet still gentle and loud enough for them to here. His eyebrows were furrowed with concentration and an odd seriousness glinting in his odd eyes.


    Aki wanted to stay up so badly. Now, he had no one to look up to. Instead, he had to be that person. He would accept it. And he wanted to accept it. He'd protect both of them. But when he turned to look at Era and back, Dakota was gone. He let out a grunt, but before he could climb over the wall and search for her.. BAM.


    The girl was on the floor next to the fence. Confusion clouded his eyes. "What the hell.." He muttered to himself with a baffled expression. But then, how didn't matter. His feet were already leaping over the fence and by the Beast's side. "Are you okay?" He exclaimed the query with worry saturating into his voice. Panic clawed into his heart. His warm hand brushed through her red hair and under her head, lifting her apex upward and brushing the strands of orange out of her face. "Dakota?"[/fancypost]

    At the sound of someone's voice, Theo turned 180, the shaft of a weapon appearing in her hand. In her many yeas of travel, it was not uncommon for her to do so for strangers, as she had been ambushed many times. The shaft seemed to gleam with blue, the bright color contrasting the dark brown and black of the two ends. However, the end of the weapon didn't form, seeing as how the man didn't look too much of a threat, yet.
    "Umm.. Hey.." she said awkwardly, taking a half-step away from him, "Who are you?"
    She tried to keep her voice down, still wanting to find the dog that made such a pained noise. Now it sounded as if other people were with the animal, and ones who were not being to kind to it. Still, she did not want to be rude to this new man who approached her, asking politely and praying he wouldn't notice her multi-element heritage; or at least speak out loud about it.
