  • [fancypost bordercolor=transparent; width: 450px][justify][font=georgia]It was strange to think that not too long ago, Jasper had contemplated suicide. He could recall the memory clearly -- him, sitting at the end of the island, hovering dangerously close to the edge. And now, here he was... smiling. The brusque soldier who barely expressed any emotion other than pain, was smiling. His crimson eyes were closed, his face pressed towards the heavily clouded sky.

It seemed like things were starting to look up for the tabby.

His expression was usually contorting into something pained - or well, not usually, but she had gotten the impression that he had always been fairly stressed, and rightfully so, at that. "Ah, Jasper!" The servaline would greet, a smile illuminating her expression as she weaved her way towards him, offering him an airy wave before opting to seat herself by his side. He seemed notably happy, and that alone was enough to lift her spirits, especially considering the recent resignations of two close friends. "How are you feeling?" Tama would opt to ask - though she could assume what the answer would be.. However, maybe she simply wanted to hear him clarify it, himself.

  • [fancypost bordercolor=transparent; width: 450px][justify][font=georgia]The heavily scarred ex-soldier heard Tama long before she approached. But that didn't change his expression, not one bit. In fact, he was looking forward to conversing with his leader. As she spoke, he slowly lifted his heavy lids and turned to face her. At her question, he contemplated an answer. He was doing considerably better than he had been. All because of a girl. His smile left his mouth, however remained sparkling in his eyes. "I'm doing..." He paused, searching for the right word. "Good, Tama. I'm doing good." He repeated the last sentence quietly, as if in disbelief. When was the last time he felt like this? Too long. "How're you? How're the kids?" He asked. He could tell she felt glad, presumably to see him not sulking. But there was an underlying ache for those she lost. It was sad, yes, but Jasper had spent too long dwelling on the bad. Now was time for the good.

  • [fancypost bgcolor=transparent; border-width: 0px; width:450px; text-align: justify; text-transform:lowercase; font-size: 8pt; line-height: 15px;]Jasper was doing "good", apparently. Sal never considered Jasper to be the kind of person who'd ever be happy, just because he was a slight bit depressing. But since he was apparently doing "good" for some reason... It was interesting to the assistant deputy. He approached the older male, a small smile on his face. "Doing good? Why is that? What's with that cheerful look?" He asked curiously, hoping he wasn't prying too much into Jasper's personal life.

  • [size=8]She still couldn't believe he'd been contemplating suicide. Of all people, Jasper; he was moody, sure, but he had looked to be mentally healthy. Yet Sapphire scolded herself for thinking that. Looks didn't matter. If a person wanted to, they could hide almost anything about themselves. She knew that fact personally with all that she kept hidden. Jasper had hid that he wanted to end it all.

She stepped over slowly and took a seat next to Tama, offering a small smile at him. It was already asked if he were okay, so of course she wouldn't ask him again. Besides, now he seemed peaceful. What had happened? Whatever had, it was a happy change. And, call it selfish, but she was relieved she didn't have to see Jasper die in front of her. Wouldn't part of it be her fault if she couldn't have saved him? Could her words have pushed him over the edge? She shuddered to think of it.

  • [fancypost bordercolor=transparent; width: 450px][justify][font=georgia]Jasper, too, had never expected him to be happy. He thought he'd spend the rest of his life sulking and being sad. But now? He couldn't picture being upset. There were too many good things to distract him from being depressed. At Sal's question, his shoulders raised and fell as he chuckled. "Things are looking up for me." He explained, however wouldn't delve into it. He didn't want to count his eggs before they hatched. This could turn out horribly, but for now... He turned to Sapphire and offered her a sheepish grin. She had been the only one there when he was considering jumping from the islands. He felt bad to put her through that. It wasn't right. He'd have to make it up, somehow.

The fact that everything was looking up for him, happened to lift her spirits, and she was.. honestly, so glad to see that things were finally working out for him, at that. "Tama's glad to hear that, Jasper!" A buoyant chirp would bud in her chest, and breeze by the parting of her lips. As he asked him how she happened to be doing, she paused for a moment. In a sense, she was fine - yeah, she was fine. "Tama's doing great! As for the kids.. They've been getting into trouble here and there, but they're brilliant.. And Tama couldn't be any prouder of them." And by 'trouble', she was speaking of the injuries here and there, that they had suffered from - it concerned her, indeed, but overall.. They were still here. They were here, and even better, they were around, at that.
