  • Avery bit his lip, nodding softly. He turned to Eden and gently pulled her close. His hands wrapped around her gently and he placed a gentle kiss to her cheek. "I'll see you later, okay? Don't have any fun without me."

  • “I’ll try not to.” Eden said sarcastically, looking up at te big, stone, grey building in front of her for a long second before turning back to him and rolling her eyes, even though his tiny little kiss. “I mean, with all the things to do around here, how can I help myself?” she added, though this time she at least tried to keep her words under her breath. He was going to live here now, and they’d just had a talk about this. She was supposed to be building him up, not tearing him down, even if they were in the middle of actual nowhere.

So, with that, she kissed his cheek gently in return, and then grinned when she saw he was wearing the infinity necklace that she had given him before they’d even left home, and pulled away slowly. “Be careful. And be open minded, okay, darling?” she asked after a second, giving his hand one final squeeze before picking up her bag and turning around, slowly making her way into the building before her.

When the girl finally left, and Avery turned back around, Robert snapped back to attention. He’d let them have much too intimate a final moment, he knew that, but he couldn’t imagine tearing the boy away from his love and then introducing him to his daughter. That would be terrible. He wouldn’t even give Beka a chance, he would hate her so much. So, instead, all he did was nod at the little necklace Avery was wearing and, with his same cold, gruff Council voice, announced, “Jewelry on men is prohibited here.” And, with that, he spun on his toe and walked off towards Avery’s new flat.

It was only once the boy had gotten settled in- more like dropped his bags off, but he had a feeling the boy might make a run for it, so he didn’t want to sit here for years if the kid wasn’t even going to start to unpack- that Robert started talking about the girl. He handed Avery the lock to the room and then started walking away, leaving the boy to lock up and catch up with him. He has to figure his way around eventually… he thought, still pitying the boy, of course, but growing a little less sympathetic as they got closer and closer to The Meeting. He didn’t know what Beka would do.

“Your match is an Eighteen like yourself, of course, named Ingrid Rebekah Cross.” he said, praying the boy wouldn’t make the connection to his last name. This is hard enough already. “Your type B negative blood types mean you are compatible, and through the years, your attraction profile has indicated that you would find her, in fact, attractive.” he said, his voice stiff and cold. With that, they walked up to the front of the house and he rang the doorbell, waiting for his daughter. Praying that she was even there.

  • Avery had to physicaly pull

himself away from Eden. He smiled softly, though his heart ached and his eyes showed the hurt there, then pulled away and stated after Councilman Robert. He bit his lip at his words, acting as if he hadn't heard them. He's get in trouble everyday if it meant he got to wear the only thing that was able

to remind him of Eden. He has the lingerie, of course, but he couldn't exactly wear that. He'd definitely look at it, though.

When they arrived at his flat, he set his bags down and looked all about. It was simple and nice, he has to admit: nothing extravagant or flashy. He noticed the man watching him and he stiffened, looking back at him. He took the lock from

him, then scurried after him. The boy quickly locked the door, then ran after him in time to hear the explanation.

"I, uh can't wait to meet her, Sir." He flashed a charming smile, a fake one known only by his peers, then looked up at the door for his new love to appear.

    INGRED REBEKAH CANE

Beka heard the doorbell, of course. She just didn’t want to answer it. So, she looked at the door, then at her mother, and then smirked and went up to her room. It was only when the doorbell had been rung for the third time that she went down the stairs. I don’t want to seem to eager… she thought with a little teasing smirk before adjusting her overalls to make sure they covered as much as possible, and then finally, finally, finally opening the door. She shot her father an innocent smile, thought she was quite pleased by the face he was making- it looked like he had just bit into an extra-sour lemon. Beka liked when he got like that.

Once she had looked at him for just long enough that she was sure she’d remember that beautiful face forever, she turned her gaze to the boy next to him. She gave him a small smile, hoping that would be enough to pass off for polite, her eyes running over him slowly. He had ridiculously curly blonde hair, hair she was sure she’d tease him about like there was no tomorrow if they weren’t supposed to fall madly in love. She supposed his eyes were nice enough, and it was a relief that he was fit, almost to the point of being muscular, and that he wasn’t some massive person they were pawning off on her as a pity match. Not that it really mattered, of course, she never planned on sleeping with him, but it was nice, at least.

After a moment, she adjusted her braid and then remembered that they were just standing there, so she held out her hand and gave his a little shake. “Beka.” she introduced before turning around and giving his hand a little yank, pulling him into the house, not waiting for his name- she didn’t really care. With luck, he’d be gone by the morning. “Do you like goats?” she asked after a second.

Once the two kids went inside, Robert let out a massive breath. That was literally so much better than he could have asked for. Beka hadn’t screamed, had actually showed up, and was wearing clothes. Decent clothes. With none of her typical partners on sight. And he wasn’t sure how Avery was reacting, but the boy hadn’t broken down into tears at the sight of his match, a girl who looked very, very, very similar to the woman he just left minutes before in the little guest house. So, at least for Robert, he considered that day a success.

  • Avery looked up when she appeared, his cheeks burning. She looked almost exactly like Eden. He bit his lip, watching as she looked him over. He felt bad for checking her out, but he couldn't stop himself. She wasn't as clean-looking as Eden, but her legs were just as long and her hair just as fiery. Her ryes were different, though. They weren't rounded and full of laughter. They were sharp and almost hard as she looked at him.

He smiled softly when she introduced herself, opening his mouth to respond. Before he could, though, she was grabbing him and pulling him off. He lifted an eyebrow at the question, then nodded. "Um, sure?" he murmured.

  • “Wow. Articulate. You know just how to woo the women.” Beka announced with a little snort before dragging the boy through the house- she’d already named him Curly in her head, so she wasn’t all that concerned about his actual name- ignoring her mother altogether before pushing open then ack door and walking towards the large pen in the back. The second they were outside, she visibly relaxed, finally able to ignore the glare of her mother and the pressure of her father when she was outdoors. She dropped his hand and then hopped the fence into the pen of the goats, quickly calling one of the little babies to her before scooping it up, and only when it was properly in her arms did she turn back to Avery and give a little snort.

“So. You look like you’d rather shoot yourself in the leg than spend another second here, and I don’t think I blame you. This place sucks actual *ssholes, and not in the good way.” she announced with a little smirk before pausing and looking at him, raising an eberow a moment later. “And you haven’t stopped staring at me since you’ve met me, and I know I’m hot, but I’m not that hot.” she added with a teasing little snort before looking back up at him and giving a shrug. "Do you have a thing against redheads or something? Or maybe a thing for redheads?” she finished with a little snort. Not that it matters.

  • Avery bit his lip as he trailed after, stopping outside of the gate. He watched her for a minute, smiling as she picked up the little goat. At her words, he smiled softly and then rubbed the back of his neck lightly. "Uh, you actually look like the love of my life. A lot. Like a creepy amount..." he murmured.

  • “I’m assuming that’s not some stupid pickup line, because you kind of look like you’ve been shot in the stomach. Are you always this pale?” she asked, looking at him for a long second before rolling her eyes and shoving the goat into his arms, running around to pick up another one. “Because, you know, I’m not a fan of whatever this is. We both know it’s a bullsh*t match. I don’t know what’s wrong with you, but they weren’t about to give me a real match…” she said with a snort before looking back over at him and rolling her eyes when she saw that he was still pretty much just staring, which she would be all about if he wasn’t just so not her type.

So, after a second, she walked a few steps towards him and then leaned against the wall of the pen, looking at him with a roll of her eyes. “Alright, fine. I mean, I think that love is bullsh*T and that true love doesn’t exist, but I’ll bite. Tell me about her. I’m not going to try and make you love me, so I won’t be offended by any of it. And, trust me, I’m not about to try and copy her to make you like me more.” she added with a snort before looking back at him and giving him a little nudge. “Please? If you walk inside looking like that, my parents are going to think I dropped to my knees and bl*w you right out here in the yard, and I don’t want them to get that excited."

  • Avery looked down when she saw through his facade to look happy. He bit his lip, his feet shuffling in the straw of the pin. When she came over, he looked up, a soft smile forming when he was given the opportunity to talk about Eden. His eyes shimmered with dispair and he gave an almost forced laugh at her last comment, then shrugged.

"She's amazing. Absolutely amazing. We've been best friends ever since I can remember. I don't think it's good for me to ralk abourbher, though. It will probably just make things harder and more complicated..."

  • “Why? Because you have to leave her? Because if it’s anything about trying to love me, then don’t even bother. You’re not my type. At all. Best I’m hoping for here is that you run away and I’m left to, I don’t know… raise goats all by my lonesome.” she said with a snort before looking at him and rolling her eyes again. “And, if it’s any consolation, I think you’ll be okay.” she added after a moment, walking over towards the side of the pen and ruffling through a bin before pulling out two red peppers, handing one to Avert and then giving a little sigh, rolling her eyes as she leaned against the wall.

“I mean, I was serious earlier. I don’t believe in love. And, sure, maybe you think you love this girl now, but you’ll be fine later. Not that I’m laughing at your relationship or anything, I’m sure it was great. But it won’t last. Love never does.” she announced. And, with that, she turned to her little goat and gave a soft coo before feeding the small thing the pepper, grinning as it nibbled the produce off of her palm. After a few seconds of that, she gave a little sigh and looked back up at him before raising an eyebrwo and rolling her eyes again. “But, if you want to keep telling me about her, you can. Maybe it will be therapeutic? It’s not like I’m really going to be listening anyway."

  • Avery bit his lip, trying not to get mad or upset or emotional as she spoke. He took the pepper, slowly following her into the pin and kneeling down. He held the pepper in his hand, waiting to see if any of the goats would come and eat from his palm. He would be patient, because he knew hey were young and he wasn't Bekah.

"If I tell you about her, will you tell me your story? Like, how you got into this situation without a partner and everything?" The blonde looked up at her, biting her lip. "Some say it could be thereputic..." he murmured, smilinf skightly as he used her phrase.

  • Beka looked up from her goat in time to see him sitting on the ground, a little rain stretching across her face. Maybe if he did stay, things wouldn’t be as bad as she thought. Which wasn’t saying a lot, considering that she was pretty sure that him staying would be the worst thing in the entire world, but at least he liked the goats. They could probably be kinda friendly, and just raise goats together. Because there was not a chance in h*ll of her sleeping with him, so children were an absolute no. Not happening.

She leaned back when she heard his proposition, sitting on the ground and then giving a shrug a moment later, snorting when she heard his final little jab. “Touché….” she muttered before rolling her eyes. “And, sure. Fine. Whatever. But just remember that you’re the one who asked me to share. If you’re super uncomfortable afterwards, it’s your own d*mn fault.” she announced before reaching over, grabbing one of the baby goats and wrapping her arms around it quickly, not letting it leave her lap.

After a second, she looked up at him and raised an eyebrow, smirking and yanking her braid distractedly out of the goat’s mouth. “Well? There’s no way I’m going first…” she grumbled playfully before looking at I’m and rolling her eyes. “And, I mean, you kinda already started telling me about her, so I think it’s only fair that you go first. After all, you’re the one who made it all weird by staring at me to begin with.” she finished with a smirk, actually looking over at him, ready to listen. This was an unexpected plus of being matched, having someone to share battle stories with. Not that she thought it meant it was worth it, having him around, but things could be worse. At least for the moment.

  • ooc: i she gonna start to fall for him? I gotta know...

Avery smiled softly, blushing when she once again accused him of staring so much. He nodded, then cleared his throat, looking away from her so he wouldn'tblush even more. He focused on a baby goat that was slowly walking over to check him out, making a soft clicking noise to urge him closer to eat the scarlet pepper in his fingers.

"We grew up together. She lived right next to me back home and, as soon as I met her, I knew we would be soulmates. We never dated or kissed before our eighteenth birthday, but we always knew. So, when the day came, and we found out we weren't, we took it to council. They f*cking broke us up because they needed more red heads. Now she's with the sleaze of a man, and I can't do anything about it. Believe me, I've tried. We begged the council, but they refused to listen. But damn is she amazing. They let her come with me here. And f*ck. We just gave up and f*cked. A lot. They told ys we were forbidden to or whatever, but we just couldn't help it. And, not that you're not great, but you're not her. Probably makes me aound like the biggest d*ck ever, but. That's my story..."

  • ooc: hahaha nooooo. just read ;)

“They broke you up because they needed more redheads?” Beka asked, looking at him for a second before snorting and shaking her head. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry…” she muttered a second later through her dry laughter before she looked back up at him and rolled her eyes. “That’s just the stupidest f*cking thing I’ve ever heard. Who the h*ll wants redheads, anyway? I hate my f*cking hair. And I guess you’re attracted to your ginger girlfriend, or whatever, but I think you’re pretty much the only one.” she said with a laugh before sitting back, a soft smile across her face when she heard his story.

“So. What I’m taking away from this is that you’re not going to fall for me any time soon, which is honestly quite perfect. And, well… You know how you have that problem of me not being the girl you’re in love with?” she asked a second later before snorting and flopping back on the ground altogether, her hands falling on her stomach, her knees bent up to the sky. “Well, yeah. I’m kind of having a similar problem.” she said before turning her head to the side and looking at him with a smirk and a shrug. “Haley got matched with Jake, which I guess is great for her. She’ll get to raise chickens all the rest of her life. I mean, she did agree to run away with me if either of us got matched, but then the day came around and she muttered some bullsh*t about actually being bisexual and not really hating Jake as much as she thought she would, and then she just left me.” she explained before giving a little shrug, sitting up as more of the goats skipped into her lap.

“But, yeah. I didn’t get a match, because everyone in this entire godd*mn town knows that I’m not about the whole boy thing.” she announced a second later, looking at him before rolling her eyes. “Or, at least I thought they understood that, until they told me they were bringing in another boy from a different town. They told me you were my ‘fresh start’. I think they thought I’d see you and realize I was being unreasonable…” she muttered before looking him over and giving a snort. “And I’m sure you’re great and all, and you seem handsome enough, I don’t know, but you’re missing, you know… some important parts.” she finished with a little laugh before shaking her head and looking back down at the goats. “So, that's my story... The end."

  • ;) I was planning it for her the whoooole time. Ever since you first met her. Though at the start (aka by page like 17) I was going to make her totally desperate to impress Avery, but this is more fun. They can scheme together. And talk about girls.

  • whenever you're ready boo. This is juts a repost so it's easier to refer back to.
