    “really, dumbass?"

EDEN hated that he knew she was excited. Everyone always believed that she was, truly, one-hundred percent uninterested in what the rest of her female classmates were giggling about that week- when Jake got a new haircut, when Tony lost twenty pounds and started going to the gym and got really, really hot, when Maxon threw the massive party for his birthday and everyone got totally wasted. It was a lot of stuff surrounding guys, which didn't surprise her at all.

And, honestly, she usually was pretty removed. There was no point in caring about the guys in her grade- unless she got paired with one, which she really, REALLY doubted, she had no future with any of them. The parties were stupid and everyone was in more pain afterwards from the massive hangovers than anything else, and the town fairs just needed up turning into a massive makeout session, and she was definitely not going to participate in that. She usually even hated her birthday and the revelry that came with that.

    Usually.

In her defense, this one was different. This was her eighteenth birthday, and she couldn't help but be relieved, especially this year, that she had been that month early, that she had been so premature, because, if she had come even three days later, she would have missed the cycle for this year, and that would suck so hard. But, no. Maybe she had to be in an incubator for two weeks after she was born, but she was turning eighteen before the Birthday Party, and that means she got her tattoo. This year.

And he knew she was excited but, honestly, was she surprised? They'd been friends forever. He knew more about her than she did herself, and she was sure the inverse was true, as well. Everyone knew they were going to get paired togehter- it just was. And she could have been more upset about it. Sure, he was a dumb*ss, and a clutz, and had been really, REALLY fat for a few years when he was little, but he was her best friend and spending your life with your best friend could be a whole lot worse. And, besides. He was happy for this birthday, too, because if she had been born at the right time, he'd have to wait a whole extra year until he got to meet his soulmate for the 'first' time.

  • Avery Alexander Michaud

Avery ran his hand over his kinky, curly blonde hair once more, then headed out of his room. He'd been trying all morning to tame the wild mane of hair he posessed, but he never once came close. He wanted to aurprise everyone with a new look for the special day, but no matter how much water, heat, or gel he used, his curls always sprung back into place. Avery secretly disn't mind, though. Eden always loved his curls and he always loved to see her smile when they flooped around.

He kicked his front door open, immediately turning to walk over to Eden's house. He ran up her steps, then gave their usual knock with a smile. He stepped back, ahoving his hands in his pockets. He wore a simple blue buttone up and khakis, the abirt untucked and thge sleeves rolled up to reveal his forearms. The outfit suited his carefree, easy-going attitude. It also met the requirements if the day: each boy was to wear a collard shirt and anything but jeans. He leaned against one of the columns that lined her porch, lips pulled into a lopsided smile.

"EDEN!" he called after a few moments. "What's taking you so d*mn long? Come let me in!" he called. Her window was always open to her room, so he knew she's hear him. "It's a big dayyy!" he sang, smirkinf the tiniest bit.

ooc: ah aorry. I wasn't sure where to start..

  • EDEN ALEXANDRA FLEMING

"Oh, shut your mouth. I'm getting dressed..." Eden grumbled, leaning towards her window, just slightly, in order to make sure he heard her. It took her a second but, once the little tie on the front of her blouse-dress thing, she wasn't entirely sure what it was, was tied, she slipped over to the window and stuck her head out, laughing for just a moment when the wind tossed her red hair around, brushing it out of her face a moment later so she could look at him. "Maybe I should start inviting you up here for that, hm? Do you know what the lottery that we get matched together is up to?" she asked, amused, and only a little embarrassed, that their classmates had actually started betting on the pairing. It could be worse.

After that little speech, though, she rolled her eyes, grabbed a hair tie and just slipped it on her wrist, leaving her usual ponytail for later, and jogged out of her room, remembering her backpack, filled with a computer, phone, wallet, and other necessary things for the day, at the last second, before shuffling down the stairs and opening the door, smirking when she saw him. "D*mn.... Look at you." she murmured with a little laugh, raising an eyebrow a moment later, unable to stop herself from commenting. "Um... I thought I heard promises about a whole, brand-new look for today? Greeting adulthood with your best foot forward? Could it be that... that you LIED to me?" she gasped teasingly as she stepped out of the house, shutting the door softly behind her, smiling at him a second later and brushing a piece of hair from in front of her face.

Despite her confident bravado, and the easy going smirk across her face, Eden couldn't help but worry, nervous, suddenly, that this day would turn out so, so wrong. Stop that. You know EXACTLY what is going to happen... she scolded herself mentally, though it didn't stop her from lifting her thumb to her mouth and nibbling at the nail, the one nervous habit she had never been able to break. Stop that. It's fine. He's here. And he's your match, and you KNOW it. EVERYONE knows it. You already love him, in a brother sort of way. You can love in a relationship way so easily. You have it nice... Stop freaking out!

  • Avery Alexander Michaud

Avery stepped back when he heard her sweet voice, a broad grin stretching across his features when he heard her melodious giggle. His brown eyes softened at the sight of her and his stomach did a little flip. He knew he would get her. Everyone knew. He only hopes things would work out like he's planned for their entire friendship. What coukd be better than being matched with their best friend? The loce was already there, now all they had to do was develop a life together. That part would be easy.

At her words, he smirked and chuckled. "I wouldnt mind that at all, Ed..." he teased. A pale pink blush fell over his tan cheeks once she disappeared. He nibbled at his lip, his soft smile turning into a full on grin when she appeared. Avery couldn't help the soft hummthat escaped him as he looked her over. She truly was bsautiful. Everything about Eden was extraordinary. Her body was curvy and petite, her skin was soft and tender, her eyes were a brilliant blue, and her hair was the magnuficent scarlet color he'd come to adore. She was his best frind since he could remember, and he was practically head over heels in love with her. If they were paired together today, the first thing he would do is kiss her. For years he'd watched those pink lips, and now he finally would feel how soft they were.

"Hey, now. I didn't lie. I just failed to execute my original plan. It turns out I can't tame my curls, no matter what I try. You like them though, so it's all worth it..." Avery teased, flashing her a playful smirk. "You look beautiful, by the way. I like your dress." He smiled once again, then friwned when he saw her nibbling her thumb. "Uh oh. What's going on up there?" he asked, poking her forehead playfully. "Whatcha thinking about?"

    eden alexandra fleming

Eden immediately noticed the second of silence when she stepped outside, though she didn't think anything of it- for as long as she could remember, Avery would slip into his own thoughts, at least for a second or two, and there was never anything she could do about it. She'd tried asking, once or twice, but each time he had fed her some clearly bullsh*t answer about being distracted or something like that, and, surprisingly enough, she'd given up. Although not one to relax so quickly, there had really been no point in pursuing it. She knew it wasn't a secret, they simply didn't keep those from each other. So, if it didn't matter, why push it?

"What? You don't think that'd be a little weird? You and me, naked together?" she asked with a little chuckle as a chaser to the morning introduction although, when she heard his prying, his recognition of her habit, she gave a little grumble and pulled her finger from her mouth. "Can we just talk about your curls or something instead? I don't... I don't want to talk about it. It's stupid. Really. And, look. I'm already over it. Poof, it's gone..." she murmured, plastering a smile on her face that she knew wasn't going to fool him but, for some reason, she was trying anyway. "And don't poke me."

And it was stupid- right? He was the only guy she'd ever even considered dating but, considering it was kind of seen as taboo, and they realized pretty quickly they'd be each other's matches, there seemed to be no point. He was the caring to her sarcasm, the gentle to her fire, the love to her wit. But that wasn't to say that he wasn't ready with a come back every single time she took a jab- he was, and, some of the times, it was absolutely infuriating. Most of the times. But he was her perfect match, in every way. Their middle names were even identical, more or less. And if that wasn't the universe assuring her that it'd be him, then there was absolutely nothing that it could be. Stop stressing. It's going to be him.

  • Avery Alexander Michaud

Avery chu kled, giving a shrug. "I'm a teemage boy who grew up with a beautiful next door neighbor who happened to be a girl. Us naked was a regular thought to my little, adolescent mind for a good year or two." he teased. His cheeks were still red, but he knew she's find it hillarious. When she brought up his hair, he rolled his eyes and chuckled. "I suppose. Bit, only because they make you super halpy for some weird reason."

He ahot her a smile, though he couldn't helo but wonder what the thought in her mind was. What's got her so nervous? "Don't tell me you're neevous for today, Eden. We know what's going to happen. It's going to be fine. You know what alwaya cures nerves? Ice cream..." he murmured with a broad grin. "Want to grab some ice cream? We coukd even share some if you want? I know you like sharing so it doesn't seem like you at the whole thing..." He waggled his eyebrkws playfully, chocolate orbs hopeful.

    eden alexandra fleming

"Oh my god, Avery. You're not supposed to ADMIT to that..." Eden grumbled, cheeks staining red for a second, maybe two, before she shook her head and brushed a piece of hair to the side, not at all phased by his compliments- he could tell she was nervous, he was being nice. And he's always kind of compliment-y. she thought with a snort, amused by just how different that part of him was from her. Opposites attract... "I TRUSTED you. I don't ever shut my blinds or my curtains or anything. And here I learn you've been lusting after me for years? Wow. I kind of feel violated." she grumbled wit ha teasing pout before hearing his suggestion and snorting.

"You're kidding me, right?" she asked after a long second, when his 'I'm joking' never rolled around. "Ave, the presentation is in, like, an hour. You're in a nice shirt, and you KNOW I'm going to get moose tracks, and we BOTH know that you're going to get some on yourself." she said, though even the idea was already starting to cheer her up. D*mn him. He needs to go find some other girl to memorize. "And when we share, for the record, I DON'T eat the whole thing. So, yes. We're sharing." she clarified before smirking at him. "IF we get ice cream, that is. And that's still an if."

  • Avery Alexander Michaud

Avery rolled his eyes. "Oh, I never peeped at you. Trust me. Then that would ruin the surprise," he teased. He gave her a playful nudge, then scuttled down the stairs. He pulled his keys from his pocket and unlocked his car, looking back at her as she spoke. He wasn't taking no for an amswer. Even if she didn't want ice cream, he's buy some and eat it. He lices for ice cream.

"Just get in fhe car, would you? You're terrible at hiding how much you love ice cream. I mean, really? IF, we get ice cream? There's never an if with me. It's always a when. And, when we get ice cream, happens fo be now. So, hurry up! Get your *ss in the car!" Avery called, flashing her a broad grin.

  • [mergedate]1472664952[/mergedate]

    eden alexandra fleming

"I hate you." Eden announced when she heard his first comment, making sure to raise her voice towards the end so that he could hear it even as he ran away. "I hate you, Avery! You f*cking CREEPER!" she yelled before bolting after him, leaning against the wall and sliding down the railing on the stairs, booking it after him, only slowing when she saw he was already in the car.

"Okay, for the record?" she grumbled, slightly out of breath as she slipped next to him, though she just gave one more huff before snorting and leaning back in the passengers seat. "You won because your legs are longer than mine. And that's not fair. Also because you got a head start, and you left me in my room." she announced with a little growl before hearing his rant and rolling her eyes. "Okay. Okay, okay! I get it. You love ice cream more than you love me. Whatever. Let me third wheel on your date? Pretty please?" she asked with a teasing little pout, lower lip jutting out as she looked at him. "For the record- the fact that you eat so much f*cking ice cream, and STILL look like that, pisses me off." she announced a second later.

What if he's NOT my match? she thought after a second, almost groaning out loud when the doubts crept back a second or two after he stopped talking, more than irritated that she couldn't stay happy, apparently, for more than a day or two. What if he gets matched with someone else? Some other girl? He's going to have to get to know her, fall in love with her... I mean, she'd be his soulmate, so it'd obviously be great, but... Well, what would happen to me? To us? Would I still even get to see him?

  • Avery Alexander Michaud

Avery laughed, waiting until she was in to start the car. He looked behind him as he back out, scoffing at her excused for losing. "We lost because you're slow as molasses, Eden. And I happen to love ice cream, so I ran for it..." he murmured with a playful smile. He looked over and pouted when be saw she didn't have the safety-belt on yet. "Now, put your seatbelt on. Please." Only once she grudgingly pulled it on did he pull off towards the closest ice cream shop.

At ger compliment of his physique, he lifted an eyebrow. "Me? Eden, you eat just as much as I do and you have a beautiful figure. Don't go getting all self-comscious on me, especially on a day like today." Avery smiled, reaching over and giving her head a poke after she got super quiet again. "You going to tell me what you're thinking about yet? You're pretty quiet this morning..." he grumbled. "I don't like it. Are you really nervous?"

  • [mergedate]1472664952[/mergedate]

    eden alexandra fleming

"Trust me. I know. We ALL know. Everybody knows that Avery Alexander LOVES himself some ice cream. Please. I get it. It's starting to sound like softcore p*rn, considering how often you talk about it." she said with a snort in return, knowing he'd appreciate the analogy. Maybe he's my soulmate. But he's ALSO a h*rny teenaged guy... At his comment about the seatbelt, she just gave a loud groan but, when she felt him actually slowing the car, she just glared at him and quickly buckled in. "There. Happy? I'm safe. As if this little thing is going to do anything if we get hit." she announced with a grumble.

Then he was back, again, with the compliments, and she couldn't help but blush. "Jesus, Avery. You're not supposed to be checking me out, yet. Your head is supposed to be pure, you're supposed to be a blank canvas so that you and your soulmate can start on a new life togehter. The checking-me-out needs to be saved for AFTER the ceremony...." she grumbled, narrowing her eyes at him for a moment before hearing his question and giving a little huff.

"Yes, I'm nervous!" she exclaimed after a second, tired of holding it all in. "And it baffles me that you're not! What if we DON'T get paired with each other? What if none of this was right? What if we shouldn't have even have been friends? What if I'm stuck with, like, Tony, or Maxon, or one of the other random dumb*sses in town? What if you get paired off with someone we don't even know? We'll barely get to see each other. Ever. For the rest of our lives!" she ranted, baffled by the fact that he didn't have the same doubts she did.

  • Avery Alexander Michaud

Avery laughed. "Softcore p*rn. Probably titled something like, Avery loces licking ice cream." He laughed, amused and impressed with her joke. He smirked at how frumpy she got when he told her to wear the seatbelt, but just kept driving on towards his favorite ice cream shop. He hummed slightly, brown eyes watching the road and watching her from the corner of his eye. When she accused him of checking her out, he just beamed. "Hey, it wasn't a sleazy compliment. I ibserved you'e beautiful in every way possible. How is that checking you out?"

He took a moment to briefly smiled over at her. When she postponed anymore compliments until after the ceremony, he huffed and nodded. "Find. Imve for plenty.," he teased. Bunch od bullsh*t. We're soulmates and everyone knows it. Avery bit his lip when she began to rattle all of his unspoken fears. "Oh, come
on! You know we're getting paired up. Imm surprised that doesn't freak you out," he teased. "I mean, that would mean we would be soulmates and we'd get married..." He trued to make it sound revolting, but his tone wasn't helping much.

"Just, calm down, okay? Whatever happens happens for a reason. But, no matter what, you'll always be my best friend, Eden. Okay? So, don't go flipping out like we'll never see each other again. We'll find a way. We always do..." Avery humemd oit. He quickly pulled over to the side of the road, parking in front of the small shop. "Now, let's stop freaking our ans get some Moose Tracks."

  • [mergedate]1472664952[/mergedate]

    eden alexandra fleming

Eden just looked at him as, somehow, he managed to address every single one of her questions, or at least the ones that mattered and, when he came to the end, she was actually feeling reassured. Or, at least as reassured as a girl who was facing her entire future in less than an hour could be. "Right. We'll find a way..." she repeated softly before remembering one of his other comments and snorting, turning her head to the side, slightly, so that she could look at him, grinning. "Oh, come on, Ave. You're really going to make me say it?" she asked before giving a huff, figuring he deserved a compliment, after all that he'd already put up with. And it's only eleven in the morning...

"You KNOW I'd have no problems marrying you. A life with my best friend? It can be a whole lot worse. I could get stuck with someone who has no idea who I am, what I like, what I want... There are a few stories of people who are absolutely miserable together, you know." she murmured, raising an eyebrow at him before making a face, realizing she got sidetracked. "Marrying you would be great, Avery. We could figure out the love stuff eventually, I'm sure." she added before looking over at him and rolling her eyes.

"But, ice cream? Now? Crisis later?" she asked with a hopeful little grin, giving the little tie of her half-dress half-blouse a nervous tug, though this time she was just nervous about the girliness of it all, before unbuckling and raising an eberow at him. "Please?"

  • [justify]Avery grinned at her words, unable to auppress the broad smile across his face. He unbuckled his seatbelt, then chuckled softly. "Yeah, you're right," he murmured. Truthfully, he had just wanted to hear her say it. It was kind of a ongoing competition between them. Sometimes she's force him to say it, and sometimes he's force her to say it somehow. Although it was a game, he loved every aspect of it. It gave him hope that his soulmate woukd be Eden. He couldn't imagine being oaired with a total stranger and expecting love out of the relationship.

At her sudden request to dirch the civersation, he chuckled. "Absolutely. We'll have to be fast, though..." he murmured. He stood and shuffled frommthe car, walking across the street to the shop. He opened the door, holding it open for her, then slipped in behind her. "You going to make me order?" he asked, smirking knowingly. [/justify]

  • eden alexandra fleming

"The fact that you even still ask disappoints me to no end. You KNOW you're ordering. And you know that I'm just going to stand there and laugh as you fumble with the names. What, you're telling me you don't want a cup of Peanut Butter Boom Boom?" she asked, spitting out the name with a smirk, loving the place more for how ridiculous the names were, and how bashful he got when saying them, more than any stupid ice cream they could have offered her. This is it. This is what it feels like to be with your soulmate. We get a life of this. she thought, reassured after thier little talk in the car.

"Right. So, I'm going to sit RIGHT here, yeah?" Eden asked after a second, settling back at a table and then smirking, nodding for him to go on. "And, you know... Feel free to flirt with the girl behind the counter. Today's your last day as a free man. Or not even today. This is your last hour as a free man until you're all mine for the rest of our lives. So you'd better spend it wisely." she said with a little smirk. "I'll pretend not to see anything, yeah? Give you one last, final run. Like an early bachelor's party." she finished teasingly, eyes twinkling with excitement and deviousness of just a moment before she leaned back and closed them, true to her word.

All mine. For the rest of our lives. she thought distractedly once the thought of ice cream left her head, actually not minding these thoughts, because he had helped her, and suddenly she wasn't stressing out anymore. We'd actually date. Do this more often but, like... romantically? And then we'd get married, and have kids... We'd have kids together? Our little boy or little girl? she thought, trying her hardest not to feel TOO relieved by the typical one-child rule, though she didn't know if she could handle more than one. With that thought, it suddenly felt like her entire future was rushing towards her, images of herself in a pure white dress, cutting a cake, pregnant, ideas she knew she should have thought of before, or at least considered, but had somehow managed to never think about. Wow...

  • Avery rolled his eyes, laughing at the goofy name she spit out. He glared playfully, then just looked over the flavors to make sure they had Moose Tracks. That's her favorite... he thought. "No, I'm not getting any stupid peanut butter boom boom, Ed." He laughed ahain, his brown eyes glittering with amusement and fondness as she teased with him. He followed her petite form as she shuffled to a table, just rolling his eyes at her words. Avery had noticed the beautiful girl behind the counter, but he wasn't much for publicly flirting. He hatesd the possibility of getting rejected publicly. It was one of his fears, if he was being honest.

"Okay, idiot," he responded back to her. He shot her a sweet smile before she closed her eyes, then turned to the counter. With a soft blush, he shot the girl a slight smirk. "Could I get a large cup of you finest Wacky Tacky Moose Tracky's?" he asked, his voice low in an attempt to keep Eden from hearing the rediculous name. Once the girl nodded, he smiled and stood taller. He handed over his card, then took the ice cream with a broad, excited smile. "Thanks!" he called.

Avery practically skipped over to Eden. When he saw her eyes were still closed, he smirked and dabbed a bit of the ice cream onto her nose. "Hey, I'm here. You can eat now and stop pretending like I could ever flirt with anyone..." he teased, sitting across from her. He beamed and handed her the spoon, already scooping up a bite.

  • eden alexandra fleming

"Oh, come on. You know you love Peanut Butter Boom Boom!" Eden called after him, laughing slightly before returning to her thoughts, startled out of them by the cold ice cream on her nose what felt like only seconds later, though it obviously must have been more. Wow... she thought again, blushing when she realized he had caught her right in the middle of her daydream about their life together, right around imagining what their son's second birthday would be like. Sh*t... That can't be normal, right? That's so weird to think about...

At his declaration, though, following up the little touch less than a second later, she snorted and rolled her eyes, just smirking over at him a moment later. "Wacky Tacky Moose Tracky, hm?" she asked with a teasing grin before sitting up and grabbing a spoon, digging into the ice cream as well, giving a pleased hum when she saw he had gotten the chocolate shell on top, just like she liked. "Look at this. You even know my perfect ice cream order. I don't even know what the point of dating will be. I mean, you obviously already know the only important stuff." she said before hearing his comment and rolling her eyes.

"FOR the record, I gave yo the opportunity to flirt, by the way. You just fell through. But, yeah. It's probably pretty lucky that you're going to get stuck with me. You don't have to flirt me up... Just imagine if you had to woo a brand new girl." she finished with a chuckle. "That'd be really, REALLY cringe worthy... You kind of suck at it. IT's funny."

  • [justify]Avery smiled triumphantly, clearly quite pleased with his work. He crunched into the chocolate shell, grinning as he put the large bit into his mouth. His brown eyes flickered up to hers and he rolled his eyes as well. Though at her accusation of being a terrible flirted, he pouted and swallowed. "Hey, I am not. I just haven't pulled out the big guns around you. Mostly because I want to surprise you when we get picked to spend the rest of our lives together making babies and sh*t."

With that, he stuffed ankther bite in his mouth and blushed the tiniest bit. Of course he's thought about being intimate and lovey with her, but it still made him nervous. He felt like he needed to throw up and dance arlund all at once when he was with her. "Just you wait, Eden. I'm going to blow you away. You won't even see it coming..." he teased with a smug smirk. [/justify]
