It was early, still dark out, but Bangla was wide awake. Being the youthful age she was, the pup tended to fall asleep quite early, and her exhaustion from the day's journey had certainly aided in falling asleep quickly. Still, however, she had hoped to rise when it was completely light out; her eyes were still droopy, and weariness clung to her body.

After trying unsuccessfully to continue sleeping, Bangla began to lose hope. Pouting, she stared down at the mattress she sat upon on the verge of tears, when a new light began to mix with the soft green glow her watery eyes emitted. It was on the warm side, a soft orange, and it was coming from the window of the small cabin she had claimed. Blinking curiously, she sat up straight and squinted out the window, but she couldn't see much due to her small size. And so the tawny stardust wiggled her rump, leapt off the bed (and falling over in the process with a loud yelp), and padded outside with an aching nose. What she saw left her speechless.

A vast expanse of orange, a bit of red, and a surprising amount of pink painted the sky, framing a large yellow orb peeking out from the horizon. Of course, the colors mostly bled together thanks to her poor vision, but Bangla's jaw dropped all the same as she sat down to view her first sunrise.

A childhood was meant to possess happiness, radiating joy from every corner of the room. A childhood was meant to bring playful children together to create new games and teach one another of their findings. It was to wake up every morning and yawn, looking at the sky and watching a sun rise as they awaited their friends. Children were meant to want to do adult thing despite not being adults and were suppose to quickly forget about it when they went to bug their families about recent events or for their mother or father to wake up and play with them. Children were suppose to play with their siblings as they tried to learn new battle skills and thought they were much older than they were, and not to mention the trouble they got into! That was what a child was suppose to do and be like, that was what children were. They were fluffy balls of joy with innocents in their eyes and play in their hearts. Yet when Steelblues had been a child, he had not followed the same guidelines of an average child.

Never had he remembered going to bed early and curling up in a nice warm spot either in his den or outside. He didn't remember waking up in the morning and watching the sunrise, no, his childhood had been something of a horror movie. He had grown up with two abusive parents, an abusive aunt and uncle and cousins who excluded him. For anyone whom had met Oreo a month back they would know the full extent of the story. His cousin had come to bash him, and he did well. It was only then that Steelblues had remembered the night he was three months old and murdered his family after they attacked him, threw rocks at him, wouldn't let him sleep and began to starve him. Directly after this he had moved to the marsh where he had fought everyday for everything he had. If you were to go to his profile and read his biography you would know more about the early chapters of his life. Regardless it wasn't a childhood more than it was a nightmare, and while he had later learned to love the marsh it wasn't always like that.

He spotted the girl and trotted over. His own eyesight was not the best so the colors weren't the most vibrant in his opticals. "Hey kid, enjoying the sunrise?" he asked

At first, Bangla didn't notice the approaching feline; she was too fixated on the stunning image before her. Not to mention, he came from her right hand side, so her ear was unable to pick up on the sound of footsteps. Only when he was close enough for her to catch his scent did the pup finally glance toward him with surprise and a bit of confusion in her emerald gaze. She had been late in swiveling her cranium so that she could face him head-on, so she only caught a chunk of his inquiry.

    "–joying the sunrise?"

For a moment she stared uncomprehendingly up at him, her jaws parted ever so slightly, but as soon as it clicked she nodded. "Yeah," she sighed, standing up and wearily shuffling over to sit on the other side of Steelblues so that she could listen to him and admire the sky at the same time. A sunrise, he'd called it? She'd never heard the term, though it certainly made sense. "It's so pretty. I've never seen one before."

Even though she recognized that the Russian blue wouldn't dream of hurting her, the puppy still found herself spooked by his appearance. And so she stared fixedly at the sunrise as she spoke again. "Where does the sun go every night?"
