Aww, she's so ADORABLE! I could not prevent myself from smiling as Ayo's niece ran out from the house, and from Branch's humming it was obvious he thought the same thing. "Hush, Branch," I said with a chuckle, and smiled as Nikki's boyfriend came out onto the porch. I looked at him carefully, deciding whether or not I liked him. After looking him up and down a few times, I decided yes, and let myself relax. "Hi, there," I said cheerfully. "I'm Kevin. I'm assuming your Nikki's boyfriend?"

"I'm Kevin. I'm assuming your Nikki's boyfriend?"The brunet at the door grinned as he adjusted the jacket on his shoulders. It wasn't particularly cold or warm, but somewhere in between and with a man that would get cold easily it was a bit of a bad day. "Yes, that would be me." Lance's voice was smooth and not too deep like my brothers voices were. "My name is Lance and the little red gumdrop is my daughter Myra." I smiled up at Lance, trying to tame his hyperactive three year old. "You're gonna make your Aunt grey by the time she drops you off again," Lance chuckled when I ran away to catch the child and the dog. Mitchell had seemed to have forgotten about Branch whom had been following us. "Are you new to town? Do you want anything to eat or drink? She's actually early, must have read the time wrong. Del tends to do that." Lance said, turning the emerald green eyes of his onto the white haired boy in front of him, curiosity and a warmth only a father could have swimming inside them.
-
"Hmm, I could not imagine," I joked, tactfully hiding my hand behind my back to restrain an invisible Branch from getting closer. "I'm a little recent, yeah. Haven't had anything to eat in a few hours. You happen to have berries, or - ack, quit it," I whispered desperately to my dragon, who ignored me and kept tickling my palm. "Any greens, at least? I'm vegetarian, so I don't do any meat." Ayo, HELP ME, I pleaded silently in my head. Why did I think hiding an invisible dragon would be easy?! And God, that tickled! I had to bite my tongue in order to keep from laughing.

We were passing out food. It was more of an outreach.//
Lance nodded. "Alright I'll go see what we have." He smiled at Kevin, turning to go inside again. "Oh no you don't! I was going to cook for Kevin and myself when I got home. Myra can eat with us." I came through the front door, the little girl trailing behind me with her jacket and her backpack with her clothes inside. "I came early on purpose. I am going to be busy later." It wasn't a lie, I was going to be busy later I knew that. I had also read the time on my watch wrong, again.

"Just how busy can one get?" I joked, letting walk inside before turning toward Branch, who promptly returned to visibility. "Next time, DON'T TICKLE MY HAND," I scolded him, half seriously and half out of amusement. "Who knows what would happen if they saw you? STAY QUIET." Branch muttered some unintelligible grunts, most likely mocking me, but he complied. "Doofus. Stay here and don't make any more noise, ok?" With that, I kissed him on the forehead, and he hummed and disappeared as I ran into the house. Mitchell watched from his doghouse, having seen the whole ordeal and staring at me in disbelief. I smiled, put a finger to my lips, then slipped inside, laughing to myself.

I saw, Imma reply after this.
Listen to Hold Each Other by A Great Big World//
I watched the ordeal between dragon and rider, eyes amused though I was still slightly irritated that Branch had insisted to join. Lance had gone inside with Myra to make sure she had everything packed. Mitchell had ran back to his doghouse and had watched from there, I could sense his confusion and disbelief. He was a dog, after all, he wouldn't know what Branch was. He probably wasn't even exposed to such a creature even in stories. I let Kevin inside before I went to go grab my things from my truck so that Lance didn't have to. "Alright here are the keys. Just come by after work. I'm off the next two days to watch Myra, so I expect my truck back and now covered in saw dust this time." I told the brunet whom grinned as he handed a bottle of water to Kevin, passing him a meatless sandwich to fullfill him for now till I cooked. "Don't worry Del, I'll make sure the truck isn't dirty. Here," He handed me his keys and I lifted Myra into my arms. The girl continued to stare quietly and curiously at Kevin, chewing on the thumb nail like I and her mother did.
-
I blinked at Myra curiously, and I made a face just to see if she would laugh, before looking at the sandwich Lance passed over to me. "What the hell is this?" I asked, holding it on the tips of my fingers and looking it up and down with an odd expression. "Food? This is the strangest food I've ever seen." Out of curiosity, I took the two loaves apart, staring at their contents. Then I relaxed. "Well, at least there's greens," I said with a smile, and I stuffed the whole loaf with said greens on top into my mouth, chewing thoroughly.
-
Myra continued to stare, the corner of her lips tugged upwards into a smirk. "She likes you," I told Kevin before raising my brows at his outburst. "Uh, a sandwich with no meat? I have to go to the store and get my veggie burgers. Myra is a vegetarian thanks to her aunt there." I grinned at the child in my arms. "I'm sorry she is like me about her food." I laughed, waving my fingers at Lance as I lead Kevin outside to the small van out front.

"Hmm, well, she certainly is like you in all aspects," I said with a smile as I followed Ayo out. "Especially the smile." It was then that I noticed the faint outline of Branch standing over Lance, and I could just barely see his head right above the brunette's. I immediately paled. "BRANCH!" I whispered harshly. "DON'T!" The dragon looked up at me questioningly, tilting his head to the side, his ears flopping slightly. I rubbed my eyes in exasperation, and pointed at him vaguely, and gestured for him to follow. He cheerily bounded over to me, but not without accidentally bumping the truck with his tail, making it rock a little in its place. "Strong wind, huh?" I said hurriedly, trying to cover for my friend while he ran over to me and Ayo.
-
"I'm not her mother though, she should be more like her mother than her aunt." I said in response as I started to buckle the girl in her car seat when we reached the car. Myra giggled, humming the very song that Grace's father had told the children. The girl pointed a somewhat baby fat chubby hand at the tattoo that was showing beneath the vneck shirt. Her collar and bicep down save the top of it that was slightly covered. I smiled lightly at her, glaring over at Kevin when I heard my truck rock.
My eyes burned into his that he needed to calm Branch down. Calm yourself Ayodele, he doesn't know any better. He's trying to keep him calm. I said to myself as I made sure the chest belt on my nieces seat belt was covering her chest. I handed her her bag and shut the door when Lance came over to give her a kiss goodbye. "I'll come pick you up in two days and then we'll spend the week with Mama."
Myra giggled in excitement, grinning and clapping her hands slightly. "Yay!" She cheered, waving goodbye as I shut the door. I walked off to the side with Lance after telling Kevin to get in the car. Lance glanced over at him and grinned at me before motioning discreetly to the plugs on my nose. "Yes they're there because of him, and not because he smells awful.
It's quite the contrary, Lance. It's like.. What's it like? Honey? It's so sweet to me that it's hard to focus. It's like a drug." I glanced over my shoulder at the two in the car.
"He's like a drug. I remember this smell from somewhere but I can't put my finger on it. Now we'll finish this talk some other time, go get ready for work. I'll keep Myra outta trouble," My Irish accent flooded the air as I spoke, not having to pretend and hide behind another kind of accent. I didn't around family and this young man in front of me was family.
Lance merely grinned at me. "Very well, Del. If you need any help just call. And there are some clothes for him in the other bag, just like you asked. We look the same size so they should fit him and if my you know how to hem them up. He can keep them, I don't need them anymore."
I grinned and hugged him before taking my leave to the car where I got in, waved along with Myra, and pulled away after starting the car. I not only needed to go eat but I needed to get away from the house before Branch does something stupid. I looked at Kevin as we drove. "Keep Branch under control if he is so persistent on coming with us somewhere. You're lucky I trained Mitchell, that dog would have been chasing something nobody else could see without stopping. He's a guard dog, he was my pup, but I was never home. Myra wanted him therefore they now have him. But please keep him under control." I told him in a serious but soft voice so Myra didn't hear.
-
"That's asking a big thing of me," I whispered back. "I CAN'T keep him under control. Nor do I ever desire to. I can ask him things, but he can choose whether or not to do it. He's not like a dog. He may be a big doofus, but in my eyes, he is a person, and he is family. The only family I have other than Pete." I was serious, and if it wasn't obvious in my voice my eyes certainly showed it. "If you want him to do what you want, you have to look at him the way I do. Not as an animal, but as a friend. In my case, he is a brother. Friends need to be treated with respect, even if they can be annoying at times, and the only way they'll do what you want is if you ask nicely. And, again, they can't be controlled. Just some food for thought.
"I would suggest you get to know him a little more when we're done, because he really is a wonderful dragon," I finished quietly, leaning my head back in the seat and staring up at the roof of the car.
-
My eyes narrowed as I drove; my knuckles turned white as I gripped the wheel. I didn't respond nor did I look at him. Kevin seemed to forget that not everyone knew dragons existed. I understood Branch was like family to him, but he needed to understand that Brach was putting himself in danger by making such a ruckus. I licked my lips as I drove, eager to get home and not have to be in the car longer Kevin. He was smart, but he was naive. I never thought of Branch as an animal, I understood family didn't just mean the same species. I knew that better than he probably thought I did. I sighed trough my lips. "Auntie?" I glanced at Myra in the rear view mirror. "Are you okay?" She asked me. I smiled at her. "Yes Auntie is fine." But I wasn't. Not that I was going to tell a three year old that. Myra grinned but her eyes said she was still worried. I returned my gaze to the road, not looking over at Kevin again.
-
I kept my eyes off of Ayo for a while, knowing better than to speak again. Myra's question made it obvious that Ayo was NOT fine, despite what she said. It was most likely what I had said, or how I had said it. Maybe I could have been a bit nicer, I thought to myself. I had just been defending Branch, but it came out a lot meaner than I had wanted it to be, and it obviously struck Ayo on some deeper level I didn't know about. I fidgeted, unsure of what to do, spending a minute trying to think of something decent to say, then another minute beating myself for it. I finally just sucked in a breath, and just talked. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be rude. I was just defending him."
-
"It's not your fault." I said after a few minutes of silence, pulling off the main road to the backroad that lead to my home in the woods. I didn't look at him though, I kept my eyes on the road and my surroundings. "You must remember and understand, not everyone in this town believes in the stories of dragons. Only two people here have seen them, myself and Grace's father." Myra listened as we spoke.
She didn't add any comments, she believe me despite what her mother said. Nikki and I were never really on good terms when our mother paid more attention to me and my athleticism, she didn't realize Mother paid the same attention to us both before her passing. "Branch was putting himself and us in danger, not intentionally I know, but his curiosity could have taken the wrong turn. I'm not meaning to sound rude with rules or like a stickler, but we need to be on the same page that he needs to make sure he doesn't give himself away. If it wasn't windy today and he had knocked my truck Lance would have questioned it, I don't want him to get seen by others. It wouldn't be good for any of us."
I pulled up to my house and turned the vehicle off; Myra started unbuckling herself before she got out the car with her bag on her back. "Don't touch the stove or any of the veggies on it! I'll make you some lunch when I get inside!" I called out, Myra didn't look back as she ran into the house to go put her things away. "Please do understand Kevin, I'm trying to help, not ruin."
-
"I know. And I'm glad that you want to help," I said quietly, privately hoping that we were on good terms again. Outside my door, Branch hummed, and he shimmered into existence with his nose against the window, his eyes big and adorable as always. "Yes, I'm coming out, doofus," I said with a smile, and I unbuckled. The dragon moved out of the way when I pushed the door open, and immediately assaulted me with a barrage of slobbery licks before I could close it again. "Ack! Branch! You know that doesn't rub off!*giggles* Stop! *laughs* P-Please!" I could barely breath when he finally stopped, and I took a few moments to calm down and catch myself.
