  • Two years ago a boy had moved to a town to escape from his father and his band of psychotic scientists that would test on anyone or anything. The test performed on him were what anyone would call inhuman for a father to do to his own son. Thats if anyone would still consider him human, since most people can't really get past his modifications. After The two years that had gone by he had time to accept what he had become and to learn that it was in the past. Everything seemed right, and at peace in his little world outside of a small town, called Smoke Ridge, due to the black colored mountains that surround the peaceful little town. In the two years he had also found a small little house in the woods, and fixed it up as his own little sanctuary. It was his, all his until others like him started appearing, stories online of people or children that didn't have normal abilities. Online they were called demons, but he knew the truth. He sought out the others like him and returned them to his sanctuary that soon became more of a safe haven for 'freaks' like him. Now he has to keep them safe from his corrupted father and the rest of the world until it is there time, for this band of freaks to be known to the world.

(This RP is basically like a separate timeline or alternate universe to the Maximum Ride books, only in the sense that there are children that are hybridized with animal DNA. Also, when making a character your, character can have a different choice of animal DNA besides Avian, but please don't make your character a hybrid of everything only one. Other than that just read the rules and Have fun ^w^. Also if you want to associate yourself with some rank in the group you can. Also if you prefer to use your own form you can.)

James, like always slept in trying to get his rest in before starting a day of training seeing as today was Sunday. Leaning up from his bed he looked out the window hearing the morning birds chirping, "Sh*t glad I didn't get mixed up with one of those stupid song birds," he said to himself before throwing on a pair on jeans heading out of his room. Looking into the hallway which was darker than most of the house since there wasn't any window, James headed into the kitchen. He thought it was funny how he became the leader of a small band of people like him. Although he just gathered them and gave them a home, leader was just a label given to him. Regardless he smiled letting out a yawn looking out the kitchen window and out at the woods.

Aya had been up for quite awhile, though had decided to wonder outside, enjoying all the fresh air. Her pale blue orbs glanced around in case she did happen to come across anything, per usual though, she had decided to take a walk in the woods, though feeling relaxed out there, she kept her senses alert, being part coyote she had a few higher senses.

    hope that's good =3

  • Winnie flew quietly overhead of Aya and watched. She had seen many avian hybrids before but never a coyote and she was curious to how she went about doing things. Her bright blue eyes watched from where she circled above and she smiled. It was cold and relaxing where she was and she loved it.

There were a few things she hated about waking up early, and not having anything to do were one of them. She sighed as sprawled out atop of the roof. She'd spend the day as usual, doing nothing. Only when she needed to eat, or run an errand would she finally get up. She'd noticed others were up as the morning went, yet ignored them and slept. With her poor eyesight, she couldn't tell who was who if they were too far. She would curse out her scientist if it weren't for the fact he was long gone and buried, but she's already done it millions of times to the point it was only just a phase.

  • Well seems like alot of them are bright eyed and bushy tailed this morning, he thought with a smile. It was Sunday and everything necessity wise was fully stocked in the house so it was probably going to be a pretty naturally quiet day. There weren't any kids so it wasn't really loud unless someone got into an argument or a fight but everyone got along seemingly great.

  • Nikki grumbled as she untangled herself from a collection of blankets. Exhaustion had followed her into the morning from the previous night. Though the bat DNA that she harbored didn't make her nocturnal, Nikki found herself wanting to be, longing to sleep another few hours into the day. With a residual longing for the inviting grasp of the blankets, the young woman dragged herself out of bed. Her vision was cloudy with sleep; combined with her poor eyesight, general grogginess, and an absent attention span, Nikki staggered right into her dresser. "D-mmit," she exclaimed loudly, throwing her hands in the air with frustration as she mourned over her stubbed toe. Heaving a sigh, Nikki felt her way to the door of her small room. The woman stumbled her way down the dark hall that led the way to the windowed section of the house. Nikki was evidently not a morning person: her dark hair was tousled messily atop her head, her webbed wings lazily drooping behind her, her sweat pants hung loose on her hips, her tank top was askew from sleep. Nikki mumbled a derogatory term about the morning under her breath.

  • James turned his head towards the hallway at the sound of someone, he could tell it was Nikki by the sound of the voice. "Well I can see the world's treating you nicely this morning," he joked. "I'm honestly surprised to see you up this early, especially on a Sunday, usually your still asleep until at least twelve," he inquired. "Must be some special occasion for you to be up and about."

  • [fancypost bgcolor=transparent; border: 0px; width: 400px; min-height: 20px; border-left: 1px solid black; border-right: 1px solid black; text-align: justify; font: 10pt Lucida Sans Unicode; text-transform: lowercase;]Naomi sat upright, being torn at the decision of motivation or residing on the spot of the roof for tending her slumber. Her five white, bushed tails streamed out behind her as she stared out along the side of the house. It took seconds for her to give in to an answer. With choice decided, she got to her feet and made her way towards the window she came out from. She quietly slid it open and crawled in, shutting it behind her and making her way downstairs. Thudding down the last few steps, she could hear soft muffles from down the hall. Perking an ear, she strained to hear whatever topic it was for the conversation. Except for morning talk, she didn't make out anything else. Knowing she wasn't going to interrupt anything life-changing, she silently strolled down the hall and entered the kitchen. Upon entering, she saw Nikki and James. With no greeting, she sat herself at the table. "Has coffee been made yet?" She mumbled, her ears folding back as she yawned.
In the position she let herself relax in, the small patches of fur that randomized along her body could show. The tattoos she got not long before she was taken popped out and trailed down her arm midway from her black shirt.

  • Nikki shot a dangerous glare through her dark eyelashes and messy veil of unbrushed hair towards the voice. To Nikki, practically everything was an opponent in the early hours of morning; everything from an innocent dressed to James himself seemed like a challenging aggressor. "Well, considering I'm up before twelve and I managed to find my dresser with my foot this morning, I'd say the day is off to a good start," she mumbled dryly, her voice raspy with the effects of sleep.
The young woman wandered deeper in the kitchen, finding the edge of the counter with her hip. Nikki let out an irritated groan. The heavy sleep she had risen from hadn't yet given back the full extent of her senses. Eventually, the woman found her way to the usual home of the coffee pot. Working her away around the cabinets with roaming hands, Nikki located the means of making coffee and then proceeded to start in the daily task of brewing some. It wouldn't be long before the savior of Nikki's morning was ready to drink.
Annika could sense a rush of air as someone moved into the room. Her chin raised as she waited for the expected greeting or announcement, though she didn't turn around from where she worked on coffee. She waited to put a name to the face. The identification came in the form of a question, and Nikki answered Naomi's inquiry,"I'm making it now." A yawn stretched the girl's dark pink lips as she turned to face the company of the kitchen.

  • Hey everyone sorry I haven't been active had something come up. And some Pokémon Go on the side. #TeamInstinct *dabs*

James laughed subconsciously, "Maybe you should sit down and wake up a bit before you hurt yourself badly," he said. If anything the young man had grown fond of everyone around him and didn't want to see anyone leave or get hurt. Honestly they were the closet thing he ever had to an actual family, even if he seemed like an easy going person he'd put everything on the line to protect them.

  • Noroi opened his eyes sleepily as the world came into vision, ending his peaceful dreams of last night, before he slipped out his bed and made his way to where the smell of coffee drifted from, and his head popped from around the corner, "Nikkiiiii-" he moaned, gazing intently at the delicious brew she was making, "how long until the coffee is ready?" he asked, his brown hair ruffled from sleep, sticking up in all directions.

After a few more moments passed, Aya knew the others would have probably woken up by now, so she made her way back, soon heading inside, still wesring a slight smile, she made her own way to the kitchen, seeing just a couple others in there, she merely gave a small greeting, knowing they probably hadnt been awake for all that long.

  • Winnie sighed and flew back to the house and circled overhead. She wasn't ready to go back in and was looking for a reason to stay up in the air even though she knew it was dangerous to be up here for to long. She huffed and went down to land. The air was warm down next to the house as she landed and walked back towards the house.

  • Upon James' friendly jest, the young woman grumbled under her breath. There was no way she was sitting down to relax until she had a hot cup of coffee to cleave to.
The sound of her name being drawn out in a tired groan caught her attention. She recognized the voice of Noroi. "It won't be long, Noroi," she mumbled with a deflated voice, the grogginess of sleep still clinging to her. She could hear someone else meander in, though she wasn't sure who it was. The young woman didn't ask, slightly embarrassed that she couldn't recognize the house mate without hearing the voice. Nikki raised her hand to run her fingers through her tousled hair. The movement brought some order to the dark locks, but however, she still looked like she had recently rolled out of bed.
"How many of y'all want a cup?" Annika puzzled, lifting her sharp chin and glancing around at the blurred outlines of her house mates. Her hands absently fiddled with the mug she had pulled out for herself, running her fingers around the rim and down the handle. She hadn't expected so many people -more or less people- to be up; as a result she hadn't pulled out enough glasses for the cluster of them.

  • "Aya's in" Noroi chirped in as he entered the kitchen, answering Nikki's silent question as to who it was that entered, and quickly slid into a seat nearby James, a sheepish grin coming from his face. Quickly... very quickly, he put his hands on the table, drumming his fingers annoyingly on the top of it. It was to resist urges, as the world around him was full of opportunities and chances- in short, he was a thief. Keeping his fingers busy was the best distraction to his normal instincts, "1, 2... five of us." he stated clearly, counting those in the kitchen with a scan of his eyes, his nose still sniffing that delicious aroma.

  • "Well I'll be fine without a cup so that's more coffee for you guys, I'm going to be doing a quick perimeter check in a bit," he said. It wasn't the most glamorous job but someone had to do it, although James enjoyed it. It was nice and relaxing and he loved the fresh air.

  • Noroi quickly stopped his fidgeting as James stated he wasn't going to have any, and reached out a hand with four fingers sticking up, "cancel, four." he stated, then turned to James, "then go, and let the force be with you" he stated, and once again grinned his sheepish grin. He was fairly new to the group, having been taken in just a few weeks ago, and s was still finding his feet, but had proved to be a lovable character thus far.

  • Winnie stretched out her wings one last time before walking inside and into the kitchen "hey guys" she said smiling at everyone. She was, after all, a morning person. She walked right to the fridge and opened it up "I'm starving!" she said scanning for something to eat.

  • Nikki pursed her lips and dipped her head quietly towards the sound of Noroi's voice. She was thankful for him answering her unasked question. He was new here, unlike the bat-girl, but he seemed to be making friends well.
With her bat wings folded tightly against her back, Annika sidestepped and reached up to locate the cabinet that harbored the mugs. The young lady had to stretch up into her bare toes to reach the mugs. Her hands pulled five cups down. Then she was corrected as James left the kitchen, so she placed a mug back into the cabinet.
Nikki didn't go scouting very often. If she ever was on the look out for suspicious activity, she normal sat quietly on the front porch and merely listened carefully. Nothing ever seemed to be happening on the perimeter. Annika wasn't sure how their hideout had gone unnoticed. Annika wasn't sure how much longer it would last, but she made sure to feel grateful for every moment of the peace the James had created for everyone.
A bright bubbly voice suddenly erupted into the room and Annika cringed, as if she was unable to take the sudden cheerfulness. Though, Winnie's voice helped wake her up, and she gave a tight smile. "Do you want a cup of coffee, Winnie?" the girl pondered as she started to pull down the same cup she had just placed back.

  • Noroi went back to his silent fidgeting as he played with his fingers, appearing completely occupied with whatever he was doing as the others did as they pleased, however he was actually wide awake and aware of what was happening. The world... 'Shut up' he suddenly thought at the voice in his head, his eyes narrowing slightly as a sharp pain went through his head. Just because he was free willed, it didn't mean he didn't have his inner demons.
