There's a few reasons birdie does not like to fight, one being his poor powers he was stuck with. Granted, there's lesser 'powers' then there are down falls from the two species he has come from. one being perhaps the odd feathers he has and the the looks he was supposedly cursed with, without any transformation powers from the aswang.
The rest however, is clearly ranged that he has gotten near ever single problem with being an Aswang. He is allergic and repelled by garlic, salt and the sound of the whip, and other religious artifacts. Despite these mainly being just instincts, he often follows them as they are commonly compulsive.
However, it is perhaps the strange, mixed blood line that birdie has gotten his near healing powers. Granted, these can only happen at night, and instead of healing completely, it is simply moving the pain, wound, sickness etc. from it's current host to birdie's own body. This is usually painful, and only happens at night due to the fact that it follows an aswang's culture and body, as they can only transform and gain strength at night.
He tends to be a little stronger at night as well, but it still often a bad fighter then anything else really.

Many become immediately unnerved when seeing Birdie. As after all, it's rather hard to tell him from man or pure beast. He can be intimating, or frightening to those who catch him at the right angle. However, he can appear else threatening at the next glance, considering he only stands at five foot two and is much leaner then anyone who could pose a true threat.
Along with this is thin shoulders leading up to a small, spindly neck, catching onto his small, and nearly feminine jawline. Of course, this leads to a rather pointed chin, that seems to have the rest of hsi facial features reflected off of it. His eyes holds this the most, round, and ending with sharp points with actually feather, nearly long eyelashes. The optics are actually a pure black, as they lack any whites, however, if you look closer you can catch onto the fact that they remain only an extremely dark brown hue, only cut off with the small, rounded pupil, then it can become slightly less eerie.
Leading down from this however, is long, slightly rectangular nose that breaks up the smaller features he owns most around his face. This moves onto a deep cupids dimple, that goes onto a rather long, yet thick cupids bow that connects to a pair of thicker lips. Granted, they remain darker then his actually skin tone, a slightly dark gray that nearly looks sickly and is shown heavily against his pale white skin. But, they can also be either torn up or even have specks of blood on them considering the fact that he does this out of nervous habit. When anxious or flustered, he has the common habit of chewing his lips to shreds.
Granted, some of these features, mostly his eyes and part of his nose seem to be covered with the most obvious part of him. Inky, black feathers. The one's on his head and neck are surely the most interesting part really, as the nearly wing like objects that reside where thick locks of hair should be make almost a crown like shape, curved and nearly bent awkwardly to accommodate this.
However, these are all very sensitive, and hurt even when bent backwards. But the feathers that hold most of this susceptibility is perhaps the soft, nearly down like feathers that represent perhaps where hair mostly should be, curving out in front of his face.
This follows the decent curvature of his face as well, until it reaches his neck where it continues down until it reaches his collar bone. Replaced here happens to be longer, nearly flight looking feathers as well, and tend to be expressive as they puff out or ruffle when uncomfortable or nervous.
The rest of his build holds all shapes and sizes of these objects, longer quills protruding around his elbows and knees, though they remain still and slightly more resilient then the ones fastened to his face and neck. The only exception for this happens to be his face, palms and the underside of his fingers, and bottom of his feet.
As for scars and body modifications he has few, mostly from being other's wounds onto himself, though they are extremely hidden by the feathers that go across his body. The only thing that can be seen when his shirt is off happens to be two large scars near his shoulder blades, nearly as if where wings would be placed.
Of course, along to cover this is clothes, which he still wears of course. Granted, they often remain baggy and at times looser, mostly for comfort or a security blanket and to not rub the feathers the wrong way which remains extremely uncomfortable.

Adroit, taciturn, quick witted. The first starting words that come to most's minds when they meet Birdie. The male is just like this really, oh, but much, much more complex.
Driven mostly by the mind, he at times has a habit of following logic instead of heart. Pondering, a slave to nothing more than his thoughts from time to time, his mind has a habit of ensnaring him in a zoned out mode. His head is a broken T.V., switching from channel to channel with no control. Unable to superintend it, his mind is often like the honeycomb for bees, filled with an overwhelming amount of thoughts; it can often give him migraines. The male twitches, smooths his temper, and tries to relax. This usually has no avail. His brain keeps him awake at night, it makes him toss and turn, twitch, yawn, stand up, eat. He rarely can close his eyes.
Bags hang under his optics, his attitude becomes snappy, he hasn't gotten any rest in a long while, but still works his hardest. Let his poor body sleep when he is able to grasp it, it is a bad idea to disturb him as he is in a slumber. His muscles rarely slacken, his eyes trapping the bits of curiosity and energy he often has.
The times that he can clear his wild mind is rare, but nothing more than the purity of bliss. Some of the other people are able to clear his mind, there are few, but they make him forget. He can sleep, he can relax, his muscles slack, and his eyes finally drag down.
Birdie rarely talks, he is nothing more than a full box that just needs to be opened with a small flick of the wrist. You must approach him first, no need for small steps, he is not shy, but conversations make him think too much. It makes him zone out, it gives him staring problem.
He keeps to himself, willing to listen, but at first with complete friendliness pinned down. His smile is often soft, it is welcoming, his warm marble eyes are open, relaxed, but misconduct is hidden in the back of his pupil.
He blushes by the slightest of rose tinted words. He is flustered quickly around the one he swoons over. He is even quieter and stutters and stares around the man he is unable to remove his eyes from. His head is cleared, he wants to get closer, but does not, his steps are tentative before he turns away. He works on his job, he sorts out his mind, he tries to forget.
The male is hesitant in battle, he is frightened, he is small, he dislikes the feeling of being useless. He stays back however, but watches for the ones he loves, his eyes cross their face every second he can. He goes to injured, and is quick to work. He doesn't stop until everyone that can be healed is. His exhaustion doesn't stop him.
He is stubborn, what he doesn't want to believe in, he wont. The mule itself is jealous of his obdurate actions. He shakes his head in a no by orders when he dislikes them. He snaps when someone tries to remove the glue from his beliefs. He bites when someone tries to change his course of action that he believes in. But, when it comes to someone he loves, he stays silent, hair on the back of his neck bristling, but he makes no moves. He thinks about it, he zones out, he leaves. He is slightly insecure.
He is of a slightly jealous type. He becomes green when he sees the one he is passionate talk to somebody else in a lustful tone. The male keeps slick and taught by the person who dare lay their fingers across his lover's skin. He becomes sad, he is unable to sleep again. But he understands that it his fault. The male takes blame, perhaps to much. Deaths bother him, the ones he cannot save. He stays up even more because of it. If he is unable to save another while under his care, he is still bothered. He is troubled, but lets go after a while.
As you can at times tell, Birdie remains slightly self conscious. He has a very minor case of BDD, making him stray away from reflective surfaces and try to not see his appearance as others may see him. He tries to accept himself as he is, and accomplishes this most of the time, however remains rather twitchy around the concept. Of course, this causes him to to become so flustered when someone may try and flirt with him, as he is not used to it. This also brings him to staying away from most, and watching his crush from afar.
But, he is kind. He listens and soothes, and knows what to stay. Tears fall from his optics when they fall from others, he turns angry when they do also, he is there to comfort, a pillar to lean against. To sleep underneath in case of shelter or shade, he takes the rain meant for others, and the sun's heat.But he allows them to leave when they desire to. He is protective of those he cares about. He has a good moral compass, he knows right from wrong very easily, he balances his options. He doesn't move to one side very easily, he is the middle man, he is one for peace, he dislikes the blood of another tangled in his nails, wrapped around his teeth. He is able to calm others down, he lays down and presses his side against another's and gently strokes their back. He watches over the younger group members, he is open and kind when you walk over to say hello. He listens, understands, and advises. He accepts his flaws, he opens his arms to them and embraces them, they are his friend, he works on changing, improving, and using them to his very own advantage.

Surprisingly enough, despite one particularity bad patch of his life, Birdie has lived a fairly decent life.
Of course, his back story started a long time before he was born, as an aswang and harpy met in the night of one of the many forests that laid around the world. Granted, like most romance stories it ended up with them falling in love, and despite the harpy's cruel and outsider hater flock, she continued to meet him. However, it wasn't long before something went wrong, and the harpy soon learned she was pregnant with a bastard child. it was bad news for both of them, and without warning, the aswang left the harpy and never returned.
This left the poor female to deal with her flock as she lied about who the father was of her soon to be child, and it wasn't long before she was put through a rather painful birth, and the rest of the group soon realized she had lied. They looked down at the bastard child and where horrified, the body mainly of human but covered in inky black feathers. With panic, the female harpy managed to fly away with her newborn to a new place to raise him.
This went on for a few years, the two settled down trying to forget what had happened a long time ago, and the mother never told her son what had happened a long time ago, and they stayed happily. Of course, a long time ago, Birdie wasn't named what he is called today, and he also adorned two, large black feathered wings on his back, nearly as big as he himself due to his origins, and to the age of ten, he lived happily with his mother.
But it was near his eleventh birthday that the flock that had been searching for him and his mother finally come over them. In a short lived battle of flurry and feathers, Birdie's mother laid dead and the little boy was left beaten and bruised before the flock decided to rid him of his wings, yet leave him alive, yet but also left for dead.
So, this is what they did, and nearly dead by blood loss from his two missing wings, the boy managed to stumble across an old cabin before he passed out on the front door step.
Luckily, the person who took him in was a very nice older man. One believing in the super natural and interested in the stories, he hide Birdie and kept him as his adopted son. The man also happened to be a retired doctor, rich and living in the quite woods where he wished to stay, as he began to teach Birdie what he knew. It was also at this point that he started to call the tween aged harpy mix 'his little birdie', hence the reason the male eventually adopted the name.
Bored and stuck inside a cabin, he gained useful healing knowledge and soon learned how to slightly understand his odd and rather weak powers. But it also wasn't long before he grew restless. At the age of sixteen and a half, the boy wished to leave, and with his final goodbyes, he left the man who raised him, who happily let him go if he promised to stay out of trouble.
It wasn't long before Birdie found willow branch, and gave up his skills to try and help others despite his rather young age to do so.
