Noelani --
"I WOULD RATHER SPEND ALL MY DAYS,"
[fancypost bgcolor=; bordercolor=transparent; borderwidth=; overflow: auto; width: 300px; height: 200px;] "You never understood anything!" Noel jolted awake, her eye wide and breath coming in short spurts. She wanted to tell herself that it was just a nightmare, but she knew better than that... "You never change. I never change!" There it was again. The same voice, full of anger and something else that Noel couldn't place. The speaker's voice sounded familiar and foreign at the same time, making Noel shiver as she crept across the floor of her house. Her fur was standing straight up as she stared at a dark corner, something sitting there. But the vibe she got wasn't malevolent, it felt conflicted and mad and scared. "Wh-Who-Who's th-there?" Noel whispered. Whatever was there, it froze; Noel smelling fear on it's pelt as it stepped forwards from the shadows. "I can't stop ruining everything, can I? I can't stop ruining things by being alive." Noel stared as a tall female husky stepped forwards, her blind and ruined eyes staring through her. The smaller female took a tentative step back, making Mist wince. The dead Sunclanner didn't move from where she stood, her body devoid of any of the scars from her life, except for the burn marks on her face. "I-I-It's-s not-t y-your f-fault... Y-You kn-know th-that, t-too." Lani mumbled, trying to relax herself but unable to stifle the fear that tangled deep in her heart. Mist's blind white gaze rose to meet Noel's, sending a shiver down her spine. A wistful grin appeared on the face of the dead sunclanner, but it seemed almost painful. "Yes, it is. I've known that since the moment I saw my entire family slaughtered in front of my eyes." Mist snapped, a sharp growl rising in her throat. "You and I both know what that's like. Living with the image of their bodies, their blood, stained into your mind." Mist's tone and stance had softened, but her voice had become rough and husky, a grimace on her face now. Noel nodded, even though Mist couldn't exactly see it. "We both know what it's like to live with guilt. To know that we could have done something." Mist muttered, closing her scarred eyes for a moment, when she opened them again, they were icy blue and filled with all of the anger and regret that had poisoned her entire existence. "But now I can do something." Noel took another step back, her muscles humming with adrenaline and her heart pumping as sweat creased her face. But Mist made no move to harm her, just only raised a paw, pointing to her own body. Scars twisted all over her body, marring her features, her entire frame now covered with all the marks that she had bore, in any body. But the most striking thing was that her legs didn't crumble yet; she just still kept smiling sadly. "I can give you something that you don't have anymore. I can give you anything that you want me to." The older husky whispered dryly, her paw raising again. Noel flinched back, as if she had expected the same marks to score her own body. But nothing happened, just a small bloom of pain in her empty right eye socket. "Wh-Wh-Why w-would y-y-you h-help m-me?" Noel asked, putting one paw over her face, wincing as the pain increased steadily. Mist's eyes had glazed over again, her mouth curving into a feeble smile. "Because i've already died and come back. I don't want us both to disappear forever, now do I?" She sighed, turning her back on Noel for a moment. "My hell isn't over yet." Mist said simply, then turned to Noel, her body fading. "Wh-What?! W-Wait! D-Don't l-leave m-me ag-gain!" The canine cried, but Mist had already dissipated, the only thing left being a scrap of black and white fur. Noel shook on her paws, mad and scared. The air in the room felt like dust in her lungs, her eye rolling into her skull as she collapsed, her body twitching for a moment, then was still. ... The canine woke with a scream trapped in her mouth, the sound finally ripping loose. Her entire body shook, her wings and tail trembling, her head feeling light and achy. Whenever she moved, pain ricocheted through her skull, the fem stifling another cry. She blinked slowly, feeling oddly saddened. Noel got shakily to her paws, wincing as sharp sunlight streamed through one of her windows, the canine sticking her head out and taking a deep breath. She still felt choked and trapped, so she stumbled out the door, feeling herself instantly relax as sunlight hit her fur. She rubbed the right half of her face, surprise flickering over her features as she withdrew her paw with a growl of surprise. Pain had spiked through her head when she had touched it, Noel blinking incredulously. Gently rubbing her paw around the irate area, she felt no more large swath of scar tissue, only downy new fur, one scar over her brown and continuing on her cheek. She grunted slightly as she tripped over to a birdbath that she had installed a few days ago, her face blank as she stared back at herself. The previously empty right eye socket of her face was full again, a new eye blinking at her as she stared at her reflection. But instead of a gold iris, like her left eye, the eye was an icy blue and Noel winced when she looked at it. The eye filled her head with images of anger and hate and sadness, but it was followed by regret and a shatter of hope. Noel almost screamed and jumped back when she saw Mist's reflection leaning over her shoulder, peering down with vague interest. "Don't make the same mistake I did, Noel. Please." She whispered, then the reflection turned away. When Noel turned around to say something, the scarred husky was gone. No trace, no scent, no paw prints. Noel blinked slowly, shock the only thing she could feel. "Wh-Wh-Wh-Wha... Wh-What w-was th-that?!" The canine barked, her jaws parted in amazement.
