• THE STORY BEGINS ON EARTH...
THE DARK AGES

For thousands of years, the humans had hunted dragonkind. They were viewed as savage, cruel beasts, trophies waiting to be claimed and their treasures pillaged. It never occurred to them that the creatures they slew were more than just animals, or that they through their merciless slaughter were pushing them to extinction. Although many were content to fade into the nether realm of existence, others were not as conceding. These Renegades, as they were later called, were the first wave of the Exodus, the departure of Earth and its humankind - forever.

    THE EXODUS

At that time in history, it was possible to go between worlds by going through rifts, fluctuations in the energies of celestial bodies that could, if one was accurate, transport a being across a gap spanning millennia. All theory, of course, which was why the spirit realm was a more enticing solution for the majority. But as the Renegades were convinced that this would not keep them hidden from human endeavors, they took their chances with the Rift, with help from mages who, ironically, were humans themselves. The scenario was, in itself, entirely hit-and-miss, but the first dragons eventually reached their envisioned world. One wave became two, and two became four, and after a few centuries, all dragons, save for those still in hiding, had vacated the Earth, their descendants thriving on the world which they came to call Pyrus.

  • Chaa

It had been a tense week around the city of Unity. The clans had always had their differences. Ethereal clan was typically neutral, but in the last few years relations between everyone had been breaking down. It seemed that soon even the ancients of Ethereal clan would be closing themselves off and preparing for war like the others. Unity remained safe though. It was a city of the clanless, the outcast, the free. It was also home to the Order of the Ancients.

The Order were the oldest and greatest dragons to ever live, the ones that were around when their people came through the portal for the first time to escape the humans. Well, atleast that was the story. Now they served as a form of clanless judges and mystics. The prophecies that they handed out were part of the tension now. They were vague enough that they played into whatever atmosphere surrounded politics at the time. They were partially responsible for all the tension.

"All is well, my queen?" Chaa asked Flake. They had been in talks all day trying to work out a deal with a Tidal clan nation for a defence pact. Unfortunatly their negotiator was a stiff fellow and it had taken them almost half the time to get him to disclose what they actually wanted and the rest of the time to try and take him down to something acceptable. It hadn't worked. Chaa was lucky to keep her queen from breaking out into a fight with the water dragon.

"Yes. Thank you Chaa, you may go to rest."

Chaa bowed and left her queen in her chambers. There were many palaces here fit for the different species from all around the world. The one they were in was one of the larger ice palaces. Chaa's quarters were still quite closer to Flake's though, even with the bigger building.

Unity had provided a few guards. Dragons who had abandoned their clans in favor of the life Unity could provide. A little part of Chaa had hoped they would find a Kaian or two for them, but it ended up being seven nature dragons, two tidal dragons, and a fire dragon. The fire one was posted outside for obvious reasons.

Chaa laid down on a pile of thick wolf pelts in her chamber. Hopefully tomorrow was more worthwhile than today.
A clang woke Chaa up. Something metal had hit the stone walls of the palace. She had seen little time on the front lines, but she knew exactly who to expect. 'Fulhai.' She quietly got to her feet and formed a protective shell of ice around her. She had to defend her queen, even if it meant certain death.

She ran at the door at full speed, breaking through the wood and crashing into a red dragon wearing chainmail. It was the Fulhai. She spun quickly, blowing freezing breath in a great circle around her. Three Fulhai shrieked in pain as the icy breath burned them like fire burnt her. A javelin glanced off of her icy shell and into the wall as the last one was hit with the deadly wind. They were dead now. She stopped to see what was around her. The guards were all missing. No signs of a fight remained, not even a spot of blood. There was one last Fulhai by the door that quickly dashed out to the street, wings flaring out for a second. They must be getting reinforcements.

"Queen Flake! We must move!" She shouted, running to the palace room. They needed to get out of here fast.
They had managed to get out through the wall in the back. Chaa had thrown her armoured body through the bricks to make an emergency escape. Herself and her queen, both in the brown cloaks they had brought just incase they needed to go unnoticed in the streets, had slipped away to the canals that constituted the city's slums. Chaa ushered her queen into a dark alley where they would hide for the night. Nobody will find them here. They had escaped with their lives now, but this will have changed everything. The guards had left them, and the Fulhai had snuck into the city unopposed when it was meant to be the most secure place in the world. Someone had to be behind this.

Flenz

Flenz was not pleased with his lot in life. Being exiled after his military service was not an issue, many of his kind had to go through that. The timing that he did it in was what made it difficult. He had hoped to explore the world in his time, but now with a possible war approaching they wanted him back. That wouldn't happen. He wasn't going to go back ever if it meant he had to spend another day in the army.

Thankfully, they couldn't touch him in Unity. No soldiers aside from a single diplomatic escort was allowed in. As long as he was in the city limits he was safe. Safe from his own kind.

Two figures cloaked in brown approached the alleyway across the canal and went inside. They must have been drunks to be out at this time in these canals. Nobody else was out at this hour. He rolled over into his side in the cool alley and tried to fall asleep.

  • Ace
As Ace walked into the city a Kaian guard stopped him
"No soldiers allowed, especially... armed ones" the guard said as he looked over Aces body.
"I bet that is not the only reason you stopped me" Ace paused for a second before continuing "But no matter, as you aren't worth being banned from the city. Here" he said handing the guard a letter which proved his alignment and gave him access to the city.
"You may enter" the Kaian said grudgingly as he stepped aside and handed Ace the document back. Ace continued along his way towards an inn for the night. As Ace went into the inn, he only subconsciously registered that there was a Fulhai laying in the alley nearby. As he got to his room he made sure to hide his equipment and currency.

  • Seoli Flake | Kaian | Queen of Kaian
The day had been long and torturous. Practically all day was spent negotiating with a member from Tidal clan, something about defenses and blah, blah blah. The young queen had put forth the best face of her nation that she could, and yet the dragon was rude, stiff, and not at all open-minded. Finally they came to an agreement, once that luckily benefited both species and clans equally.
All Flake wanted was to sleep that night, and she almost got her wish. Permanently was a side effect.
Luckily for her, her advisor, friend, and guard (All rolled up in one) came to her aid. The Queen was too tired to notice anything was off that night, and didn't hear the clang that Chaa had. The fighting had woke up Flake though, and she was out of her bed in a flash. She had no desire to die tonight.
As fast as the fight outside the chambers had started- it was over. Flake waited anxiously to see the outcome- if Chaa had one, they would run. If she hadn't, Flake would fight till her dying breath.
    ___________________________________________________________________________________

The pair of dragons ran from the palace. Someone had betrayed them, and for what end? Flake would find out. The Kaian species were trying to be peaceful now, and build ties between her people and outsiders of other clans. Only one species would attack them though, it was never peaceful between the two.
    Fulhai
The name of the Kaian enemies flitted through Flake's mind as she allowed Chaa to usher her into a dark alley. They would hide here for the night, and search tomorrow for clues.

  • MALETH FIREDRAKE

"We really should be getting back, Maleth. I mean, it's been almost three days, your parents are going to get worried, you've got your coronation coming up, a-a-and..."

"Are you going to be like this all day, Greenhorn? Cause you didn't have a problem with it when we left," Maleth said, hissing for the Ridgewood dragon to be silent. "And I don't want you to mention the coronation again, you hear?" Greenhorn opened his jaws, but, catching the deathly glare, shut them again, not wanting to get into a fight with the Nightshade dragon --- who happened to be his only friend.

They'd been spending the last two days on a little 'excursion' in Unity after managing to talk their families into letting them go. Greenhorn's kin had been relatively easy to persuade. Maleth's...not so much. They had SAID that they were worried about the war situation, but Maleth suspected they didn't want him to run off before the crown was handed off to him. A crown which he didn't want. It was supposed to be Arus' job, not his.

    "Maleth?"

"What now?" The Ethereal dragon snarled, but his attitude changed when he saw what Greenhorn was pointing at. Two dragons - from the looks of it, Kaian - slinking into a dark alley. Suspicious. Very suspicious indeed.

  • [fancypost bgcolor= transparent; border: 0px solid transparent; font-size: 8px; font-family: tahoma; text-transform: lowercase; letter-spacing: 2px; text-align: justify; line-height: 130%;]"No need for violence, ma'am, you asked and I delivered."

a smaller, ebony-black dragoness was cornered between a wall and an angry dragoness, whose lips were curled back in an infuriated snarl. The small dragoness' name was Eyphah; a talented clairvoyant who belonged to Ethereal Clan. Prior to being pushed against the wall by the dragoness, Eyphah was traveling through the city on a "business trip", one of her newer prophecies led her here. while wandering through the city the void dragoness was approached by a much larger female, and while trying to shoo her away the female found out about her clairvoyant abilities. She simply refused to stop pestering the poor Clairvoyant until her question was answered; what did her future have in store for her. Eventually, Eyphah finally gave in and delivered the news, which was not good at all. Her first born would die in a fatal accident along with her mate, and her second born would die before they hatched. After this, she would become infertile, and would no longer be able to bear children. Clearly, the dragoness was not happy; the aggressive glint in her eyes proved this fact true. A quiet yelp escaped Eyphah's throat as the female's claws grazed her sensitive muzzle, small droplets of light blue blood beginning to well up inside of the injury. Gingerly rubbing her muzzle the clairvoyant glared at the dragoness with her pupilless blue eyes, an annoyed sigh escaping her muzzle as she readied herself for another attack. A dragoness of this size could easily injure her fatally before any guards in the area came to her rescue; the clairvoyant had taken a secluded route to avoid any social contact.

"Is this really the answer to your misfortune, it's just a prophecy-" eyphah was cut off by an angry hiss from the dragoness and fell silent once again, giving her another glare. clearing her throat, she continued, "-and prophecies aren't always true, why do you think I came out here in the first place?" the small dragoness then tensed up as the larger one raised herself onto her hind legs with her forelegs outstretched, she was aiming to crush the smaller clairvoyant with her own weight. eyphah took this moment to escape, quickly slipping underneath the angry female's legs and making a break for it. she managed to escape almost unscathed; the wound on her nose began to sting and the dragoness had managed to rip her claws through the tip of her tail before she escaped. hissing in pain quietly eyphah escaped into some shadow and crept away, leaving the female confused and extremely annoyed. as the small clairvoyant reluctantly made it to a more social area she muttered to herself quietly, her spots pulsating with annoyance.

    "some dragons just don't understand..."

shaking her head from side to side eyphah caught sight of two hooded figures, and tilting her head to the side, she decided to ignore them. she didn't need to get into any more fights today, she might not be so lucky the next time.

    -Yuikiana-
The sky was peaceful for the most part for the deep purple cosmic dragon, but her stomach was starting to bother her, and not wanting to take time to hunt, she landed in a town with a mamorial in the center. There were plently of shops set up about, but she was craving a certain type of food that many of these bland stalls lacked. Her with her swirling blue star/galaxy-like wings swirvedbthrough the various dragons around, keeping her eyes open for the food item in mind.

    -Malavark-
(Slumbering deep in the woods, open for rp)

    -Vlaklux-
The phoenix dragon was comepletely engulfed in fire as her colorful feathered wings flapped slowly. She circled each town, looking for anyplace to land safely without setting a forest fire. She eventually landed on a beach, turning the sand she toutched to colorful glass. She shook herself free from the flames and walked up the beach, looking for fruits. She was what other dragons call a vegetarian.

    -Zlafron-
(Slumbering in the snowy mountains, open for rp)

    -Alino-
The angler dragon released a shockwave of electricity, killing the fish around him, as well as illuminating the water for a few seconds. He swirled in the underwater world, lighting up his bodyparts that were like a lightbulb to see where the fish were. He sped up like a jet, catching each large fish with his wings, using them as nets, and leaped out of the water on a fishmarket street. "Alright, three dozen LARGE fish like you requested sir, I believe you owe me something?" He held out his claws and was given a large emount of gold nuggets. Alino opened a glass-like containor around his neck and placed the nuggets in before nodding to the fish sales-dragon. "Thanks lad, send word my way if you need me." He walked off down the 'street' for a while, keeping close to the water, seeing if there were any other places that needed him so he could make easy gold. Yes he has millions at home in his underwater cave, but he still gathered the gold regardless. You can never be too careful. Whenever some dragon gave him an ugly stare, he sent electric waves across his body, spooking the smaller dragon easily.

  • Chaa

The sky brightened before the sun was even visible over the tall buildings and city wall. The alleyway remained dark but the streets around them were starting to fill with the very first of the traders, cooks, guards, and townspeople.

Chaa had been awake all night guarding her queen. She was used to going long periods without sleeping. Urgent messages that were sometimes carried between kingdoms or generals needed to arrive fast, and that meant no sleep

She crept over to where Queen Flake was sleeping and shook her slightly to wake her up. They had better get moving. Right now an inn or tavern would be their best option. The guards wouldn't frequent such a place, and they needed to avoid them until they figured out who they could and could not trust.

Just on que, a pair of city guards came down the street across the canal from them, making sure to clear out the homeless who slept in the area. The two of them grabbed the Fulhai accross from the Kaians and started dragging him to the canal in the center.

Flenz

Flenz had managed to sleep another night without fire. He quikly learned the best way to avoid attention was to avoid using any sort of ability in the city. Nevertheless, the guards still liked to harrass the homeless in the city. Today was just going to be one of those days.

They had grabbed him while he slept. He woke up startled and quickl figured out what was going on. They were going to throw him into the canal. He tried strugging against them, careful not to burn them or stab them with a stray hardscale. If he so much as scratched them he would be hauled off to prison for a week.

"Hey! No! Let me... GO!" His strugles were useless. These dragons were bigger, stronger, and protected by the law. "Help me!" He shouted. The guards only laughed at his pleas.

  • [fancypost bgcolor= transparent; border: 0px solid transparent; color: white; font-size: 8px; font-family: tahoma; text-transform: lowercase; letter-spacing: 2px; text-align: justify; line-height: 130%;]eyphah had retreated farther into the shadows as the sun came up; the dragoness could still be around and the clairvoyant doubted that she would let her go intact. Grumbling angrily the dragoness' thoughts were interrupted by pleas of help, and turning her head in the direction of the commotion she felt herself tense up. She didn't know why, but she couldent allow the guards to throw them in the canal, he was...important to something. She couldent quite put her finger on what it was, but she had a feeling it was the prophecy. Grumbling in annoyance Eyphah trotted over quietly, her blank blue eyes boring into the homeless dragon as she made her way over. She didn't want to challenge the guards and end up somewhere she didn't need to be, so while she was waking she ran various scenarios through her head.

//sorry for any grammatical errors, spellings errors, and the size of the post, I am on mobile atm[/fancypost]

  • Ace
As Ace came back from the smithy with his brand new armor on that at first glance just looked like his scales, he saw a Fulhai being dragged off towards the canal by two guards. 'I wonder how strong they are' he thought for a second 'but I promised his Majesty that I wouldn't get into a fight.' Then an idea popped into his head, 'What if they attacked me without provocation?'
"Hey guards! You know that if you throw a Fulhai into the water you'd be risking his life and health" The now secretly armored Nightmare dragon called out suddenly.

  • GREENHORN

"I wonder what was up with those two back there," Greenhorn heard Maleth say sometime later, which the Ridgewood dragon took to mean the two Kaian they had seen earlier. Well, at least the heat was off of him for the moment, but Greenhorn was, privately, curious as well. "Hey, you know what, how about you go check it out while I go find us some more...uhhh....supplies! Yes, supplies. Good, right?" Maleth looked at him funny, but his interest got the better of him, so he handed the bags over into Greenhorn's claws, and went on his way.

Shards, this is heavy. Now what else was I going to... Yells interrupted Greenhorn's train of thought, and looking over towards the canal, he saw the problem. A Fulhai was being dragged off by two of the city guards. Not that it didn't surprise him - Fulhai and Kaian were currently enemies. Although...Greenhorn hesitated. This seemed a bit unfair, for it didn't look like this dragon was guilty of anything. And that black dragon over seemed to be thinking the same thing. Where'd he come from, anyway? I might just watch a little more...
MALETH FIREDRAKE

I know they came down this way, though Maleth quietly, hovering at the mouth of the alleyway where the Kaian had gone. Just to be sure, he scented the air - he could still smell them, and they were close. "Yeah, they're here." Steeling himself for possible aggression, he entered, his tail dragging quietly against the slick stone beneath and over some rather foul-smelling refuse. "Hey, whoever you are, I know you're here, so why don't you come out, alright? I'm unarmed...mostly, but I won't try anything unless you try anything, so how about it?"

  • -Yuikiana-
Finally, she found it. A dragon fruit!"Finally I can make that potion!" She hurried to the stand, swerving between dragons, until she stopped at the merchant's stand. "'Greetings Ethereal dragon, how may I of assist you today?"' Yuiki looked at him, her circular wings giving off a light stary mist. "How much for the dragon fruit?" She sounded like se was in a hurry. Ther merchant dragon smirked and nodded, realizing she wanted it desperately. "'Ah I see.. Yes yes I'm glad you came yes indeed. I wasn't going to sell the last dragon fruit of the season to just anyone..."' Her eyes glimmred with hope. "So how much is it?!" He snickered softly. "Oh nothing too pricy for somedragon such as yourself. Its just a mere ¥4,500 gold pieces."' Yuiki stared at him in disbelief. "That much for a small simple fruit?!!" He nodded, eyes 'serious.' "'Im afaid Im not joking around. You see this fruit came from a special islet far away where only the ancints travel, where it is said any fruit there will give you 1,000 years added to your own lifespan..."' And so he started trying to boil her down and trick hed into buhing the small single fruit se desperately needed, and didn't have enough pieces for.

    -Alino-
The blue-ish dragon froze hearing someone just to his left. Walking closer he noticed it was four dragons. Two guards and two civilians. He lifted a brow and sat, watching th scene unfold.

  • (Alright, too late to help.)

The guards threw Flenz into the canal together. The red dragon flailed with his claws and wings, trying to stop himself from hitting the water a meter below. It was no use. He hit the water with a splash and started clambering at the stonw brick wall to climb back out. Oil was already pouring from his loosened hardscales and collecting on the surface of the water and the road. The two guards had walked off, laughing to themselves at Flenz and an array of racial slurs on "damn red cacti".

Flenz slowly started slinking back to the alley, uselessly trying to stop the last bit of oil from leaking with his scales.

  • Im confused if Flenz is still in the water or not so I am making two replies!

  •
Seoli Flake | Kaian | Queen of Kaian
// IM SORRRRRRRRRRRRY. IM VACATION AND WE ARE IN THE LAST STRETCH AND THEYRE SHOVING IN AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE.

The queen stretched as she was shook away by her guard of the night. She blinked her eyes open onl to be greeted with a scene of soldiers marching towards them. The two gruff dragons weren't after the two Kaian though, but after a Fulhai. Flake was too slow to aid him. She watched helplessly as he was thrown into the water, the water instantly boiling around him. Shock ran through her scales, How dare they! They could kill him!
The moment the fire dragon climbed out of the water, the dragoness hurried to his aid. She was hesitant because of the heat was generating, but with every passing moment he seemed to simmer a little less. Regardless of Chaa's protests, the Kaian Queen was going to help this Fulhai since she didn't before.
"Excuse me!" Her whispery voice echoes through the alleyway. "Are you okay?" In a moments time she was by his side, inspecting his scales to see if any damage was inflicted by the guards. "Can I help dry you somehow?" Before the Fulhai could answer, she had slipped off her cloaked and was patting his side dry with dainty claws. "They're big brutes aren't they? Rude too." Flake sniffed in distain.

  • (He was out, but I like the in one more. That is the one I'm going with.)

Flenz coughed up dirty water from the canal. He couldn't swim, no Fulhai could. Thankfully someone had responded to his pleas, just a bit late. A little shock went across him from the dragon that saved him made him jump back, almost sliding back into the water from the slippery stone pavement. "Are you trying to get us both killed!?" He turned his head behind him and saw another two dragons trying to help him. One took off her cloak and- Flenz jumped back towards the angler dragon. Kaian. The one thing he was even more afraid of then water. He hissed visciously at the icy white dragon, backing past the angler dragon.
Chaa tried her best to keep Queen Flake away from the Fulhai, but she didn't listen. For some reason, Flake had never acted with the same instincual fear of the fire dragons that all Kaian held. It made her much more diplomatic, but also much more reckless.

The Fulhai, on the other hand, seemed to have a perfectly working instinct. "Sister, please. We have to go." Calling her queen "sister" felt unnatural, but she would have to stick to it. No calling her queen by her name or title when they are trying to hide.
