He still doesn't understand. "We're taking you home." Home. That's not home. Home was a smile to big for that body's face and eyes too bright to meet for more than a handful of seconds. Home was him, but not because they were in love, this wasn't about that. It was still - they were -


    When he falls to his knees, it's not because of an order. He still stares at the body and for the first time for a long time, tears prickle at the corners of his eyes. Someone approaches him from behind. "Hands behind your head and I'll take you back. We can forget all about this." The pain is sudden, racing through him like needles in his veins. He can't forget. Not one single second. "No," he protests, scrambles forward with a broken voice to hold what's left of his home to his chest. "No, no," he repeats to the silence around him.


    Part of him wants to be angry, wants to bare his teeth and shout what he always does: I am not your soldier. He's not. He belongs to no-one. But maybe his heart did, and it shatters along with every smile he'd ever shared. "No."

    some of the characters didn't get a lot of screentime, and you expected they would, but they weren't too related to the main plot so it wasn't bad
    and they were pretty much what you would expect of a bunch of bad guys together
    sometimes they pissed each other off
    and then they were friends
