[fancypost borderwidth=0px; width: 400px; margin-top: -9px;][justify][size=9pt]THE DREAM STARTED OUT as it always did. Bitterblue stood on a beach, her snowy paws lodged into the fine sand as she gazed at the angry grey ocean before here. Above, the heavens clashed as the sky threatened to break out into a thunderstorm, a sharp, biting wind ripping through the air. She could almost feel the gust tearing through her fur like thorns. Turning her heterochromatic gaze to the stretch of beach to her left, she saw it, just like she knew she would. The body. Bitterblue didn't recognize it, but nonetheless, the moment her eyes rested upon the dead wolf, an agonizing pain would crack through her and she could feel a fissure split open in her very being. Before she had time to process what she was doing, the young feline would be sprinting down the beach towards the corpse, a savage, fearful instinct propelling her onward. Please be okay. Oh, god, please. Bitterblue's breath came out in gasps, but as she neared the wolf, it vanished, reappearing farther down the coastline. I have to reach her. I need to! The feline thought, taking off again, only to have the process repeat itself. Each time Bitterblue would come within close proximity of the wolf, it would dissipate and reappear in the distance. Eventually, the body was nothing but a smudge in the distance. However, Bitterblue still tore after it, exhaustion and fear coursing through her. "I have too... I have too... Suddenly the world filled with light, stopping Bitterblue in her tracks. Lightning. In slow-motion, the feline watched as the electricity arced across the sky before heading straight for her. Unable to move, she watched as her fate raced to meet her.
Jumping, Bitterblue was forced out of the nightmare, her gasping breaths disturbing the nighttime silence. Taking a moment to calm down and allow her eyes to adjust to the black ink clouding her vision, Bitterblue drew in a rattling breath. Just a dream. She pulled herself out of her sweat-soaked nest, heading out into the night as her muscles ached in protest. During nights like these, the she-cat would wander the forest in a stupor, her mind perfectly numb. Leaving HawkClan's camp behind, Bitterblue headed into the woods, her tired gaze scraping over the stars overhead. Beautiful. The girl's head tilted back as she peered through the canopy, her stomach seeming to churn as she noted how tall the trees were. Fear. How funny. What was she so afraid-
Pain.
Sudden agony coursed through the feline, eliciting a scream from the small creature. Bitterblue's knees buckled, her body swiftly meeting the ground with a sharp crack as she began to writhe. What's happening?! The girl could feel her very being getting pulled outwards, her atoms breaking apart, adrenaline flooding her veins as she began to change. Thick black fur quickly replaced the soft, velveteen white of her coat as gleaming fangs forced their way through her gums. The sensation was torturous. Tiny knives sprung from her paws as her claws elongated, their piercing strength marking the ground as Bitterblue squirmed on the forest floor. Through her blurred vision, she could clearly see a long, black muzzle extending from her face, right where her nose should have been.
Are you afraid of the big bad wolf?
The recently turned canine shrieked on pain and fear. She remembered. She remembered it all. Calum, the demon that had possessed her, spiriting her away from her home as a tsunami destroyed HawkClan's island where she and her clanmates had once dwelled. She could recall blood, her's and other's, intermingling as Calum forced her to do terrible things, each death she caused carrying her farther and farther away from who she was until she couldn't remember her own name. Calum had left her as an empty shell, faraway from her home and forgiveness. Her tormentor wasn't the only thing she remembered. Oh no. Bitterblue could remember her past and it was a much more painful thing to relive. The memory of when she had first seen HawkClan flickered before her eyes. She had only been one month old. Raptorwing, her father, had ushered her across the border and into the safety of the clan, her five other siblings in tow. Her family. Wordkit. Churcheskit. Marinakit. Neonkit. Buriedkit. The six of them hurdling into the world together. She recalled her mother, Pepperspice, her beautiful, soft gaze tenderly looking at them as they grew up. Pepperspice. The first time Bitterblue had seen her mother die, she had only been a kit. They had found her on the beach, her mouth tilted up toward the sky, testifying that she had struggled for air until her last breath as the cancer that had ravaged through her lungs finally won. She recalled the struggle to reach her apprentice years, her mind constantly consumed by the thought that she would never see her mother again. She had prayed for her to return. By the time she had become Bitterpaw, her wish had been granted. The HawkClan medic had been brought back to her, this time in the form of a snow leopard. Her life had seemed perfect. Buriedpaw had been promoted to a medic assistant, Bit herself to corporal of the army under Glorystar's reign. Hell, she had even had a boyfriend. Rainypaw. Her happiness wouldn't last long though. Only mere months into her apprenticeship, her mother's body had been found in a pool of her own blood, gone forever this time. Shortly after, Buriedpaw was possessed and carried off to WindClan, only to return to HawkClan for Bit to witness her sister's gruesome death. She had become Bitterblue as the only remaining Paramour in HawkClan. Her warrior years had been blighted with depression, her only real cause for continuing being her clan. Then Calum had come. It had been the first time that she had shifted into her wolf body: she had been walking along the beach when a sudden pain had hit her, her mind ripping open as she transformed for the first time. She had been made vulnerable. Calum had forced his way inside her, his presence so strong that she had instantly become nothing more than a shadow dwelling in the back of her own mind. The rest was history.
Bitterblue now writhed on the ground, just as she had then so many years ago. Fear seized her heart, anxiety that the demon that had once ruined her life would return again to carry her to oblivion. The wolf let out another scream, almost as if in defiance as another bolt of pain shot through her.
