POWERS & ABILITIES reina is a glorified mechanic of sorts. after a bit of tinkering, investigation and sketching, she can figure out the inner workings of almost any kind of technology under the sun. after the accident that almost claimed her life, reina was given her cyborg body parts which include; her right eye, right arm and both legs. her cyborg limbs are attached to her nervous system and are also therefore controlled directly by her brain.
her eye acts mostly as a scanner, and is her main way of figuring out the tech she encounters, but also accelerates her reaction times. both her cyborg right arm and legs were originally there to replace her missing ones, but she soon started tinkering with them too and eventually enhanced them to her liking. her legs are equipped to sustain massive amounts of fall damage and also pack quite a kick. the same can be said of her right arm, but it has the added functionality of many tools that she might need. it can act as a wrench, screwdriver, welder, hammer, and many more. despite her multipurpose arm, reina always carries an array of extra tools, oils, spare wires and fuses and her trusty sketchbook in her slightly grubby backpack.

APPEARENCE reina is relatively strong and muscly, but not in a really noticeable way, although she is quite curvy. her cyborg limbs are covered by easily removable plastic prosthetics that resemble human skin and flesh. although she doesn't do so too often, as she's a little self-conscious, in the dryer months of the year, reina will remove her plastic, fake skin and leave her robotic cyborg parts open to the air (sometimes out of a little laziness tbh).
reina also loves to dye her hair, despite the damage it does to her hair, and can't remember the last time she had a natural hair colour.

HISTORY grew up a prepy, typical rich, boarding school girl, but her parents' work as scientists / engineers forced them to move to california. this was completely incomprehensible to reina, as a young angsty teenager, and it completely changed her personality; her rebellious streak started. reina would skip classes, get into a couple fights, dyed her hair for the first time without the consent of her parents, and isolated herself in her hobbies such as; guitar, tinkering with tech, spray painting...etc. eventually, reina grew out of her angsty phase, although she never quite forgave her parents, and let her charismatic and talkative self emerge again. despite her hate for school, she had evidently inherited her parents' love of science, more particularly engineering, and was in fact quite gifted at it.
then, the accident happened. one day, reina aged around 17 or so, was accompanying her parents to work in their lab, where they were testing some new kind of technology. the reactor malfunctioned, claiming the lives of several scientists including her mother's, and her right eye, arm and both legs. her father, already distraught enough with the loss of his wife, desperately tried to save his daughter. he was so desperate in fact, that reina was used as a test subject for a new cyborg technology, being developed in extreme secrecy. during the first few months of mourning, reina stayed locked away from any outside contact, tinkering the hours away and coming to grips with her new body. after a couple years, she eventually came back to a relatively normal life. however, her skills began to gain attention, and not necessarily the good kind. soon after, she was accepted into monarch academy to hone her skills and protect her from those who would wish to exploit her skills and get ahold of her precious advanced robotic limbs.

Appearance:
Hesper has quite tanned olive skin due to her life on the streets in Ira (see below), although it does fade back to its original pallor during the winter months, and it is covered with a variety of small scars. The entirety of her left arm is a sleeve tattoo of the sky's constellations, which brings up painful memories of her old life in Paradise, much too often for her liking, and it of course glows gold at night.
As or her hair, it's cropped at chin length in a wavy, messy bob, raven black in colour, as are her eyes which she loves pairing with heavy black eyeliner.
Her first and biggest pair of wings, with a total wing span of about 2,5 metres, has the feathers of a blue jay, giving her the obvious nickname which she is quite fond of. Her second, still small and growing, pair of wings are the same but just a lot paler.

When it comes to clothing, Hesper prefers tighter fitting clothes so as not to restrict her movements and flying, but she loves wearing baggy hoodies and big fluffy jumpers in colder weather. A couple favourite items in her wardrobe are thigh high socks and a long hooded black cloak, whose length can be adjusted.

A few final items that Hesper always carries with her, now that she lives in the Tanglewood Forest, are her trusty hunting bow, a small retractable spy glass and the only piece of her blood related mother that she has left; a deep blue stone amulet, that's always cool to the touch.

Hesper was once a seraph who lived in Paradise with her father and stepmother, on the ethereal plane. However, after having been discovered as an illegitimate child, she was cast away and banished to the mortal plane aged only 147, never to see her family again.
With no one to turn to for help, she ended up in Ira, along with other people and races possessing so called 'bestial traits'. She found herself to be immune to Purity, forcing her to hide as much as she could from the surveillance. There, she learnt how to fend for herself and master her fire kinesis, to a certain extent at least.
Being a seraph had its advantages; after having lived there approximately forty years, Hesper knew her way around Ira like the back of her hand: she knew the best spots for finding food scraps, where to find fresh water, where to shelter from the rain and even where the best begging spots were.
At this point, Hesper had been living on the streets since she arrived on the mortal plain and had lacked the sufficient time to properly care for her wings. She had also seared her feathers on a few occasions, while using her fire kinesis. Therefore, wings were a complete mess, and even if her ever half-starved body had the energy to fly, she had lost that capability through neglect. With so little food available to her begging on the streets, her strength had rapidly fallen and she had lost her ability to fly. However, she had honed her kinesis skills and gained razor sharp reflexes, as she had to use them to survive.
After having lived in these conditions for so long, despite keeping her fiery and charismatic attitude, Hesper grew to be very wary and mistrusting of others, so when someone of the Irawood gang came to help her escape, she at first suspected a trick. It took some convincing, but eventually she decided to go with them, thinking that whatever they were offering was better than what she had had to live through. Although she didn't particularly sympathise with their hatred of humans, Hesper agreed to help the Irawood gang rescue more people like her from Ira. Truth be told, she feels a lot of curiosity and wonder towards humans, more so than fear or hatred, but the Irawood gang is the only family she has and she choses to stay with them. During the twenty or so years that she's been with the gang, Hesper has been rehabilitating her wings to fly again, and she is slowly building up her endurance.
