For the next several days, he didn't eat or sleep. He just lay on the floor, his skin pale as if he was sick and he never said a word, even when his parents came in to try and talk to him

Eventually Kasstepped came to him

Carol told Kass about him, saying he'd been off his food and hadn't been sleeping ever since he came home

She went upstairs to him

He lay on the floor, his skin pale and he was skinnier than he used to be; his ribs visible
