    Luma is fast asleep when she feels Pika's eyes scan past her, sending a shiver down her spine. Her milky eyes blink open and she lets out a silent yawn. She stretches out as far as the walls of her container will allow, which, admittedly, is not that much. She sits up and looks across the lab where Pika's cage is located. She gives him a large friendly smile, cocking her head to the side. She cannot speak to him due to their distance, but they've taught each other to send simple messages through body language.

He was tired of being a slave to Team Rocket's experiments. His tail made a loud metal bang haunts the cage but Pika at that moment didn't care.     Luma creeps back into the corner of her container as the sound of Pika's metal tail rings a haunting tune throughout the mostly metal lab. She frowns, watching as the scientists carry her friend away for the third procedure they have done today. Luma does not nearly get worked on as often as Pika, so she is glad that he had accepted her friendship in the first few days she was here. Otherwise, she would not be able to comfort him. She growls as one of the scientists approaches her container, brandishing a muzzle and a harness. They remove her from the container, strapping on the muzzle and harness, and drag her along into the same lab they are taking Pika. She follows silently behind, knowing from experience not to resist. She assumes they are just running tests today, because her results are mostly concluded.

    Luma cringes as she is forced to watch Pika's procedure, her heart racing as she sees the ever-present pain in his body. She can't look away, as much as she wants to, and completely ignores the scientists as they lift her up onto an examination table. She presses her ears against the back of her neck, sparkling tears welling up in her eyes as she is strapped down to the table.

    Flare sat in his cage, tail twitching in anger. He missed Red, and was infuriated at having been separated from him. Team Rocket will pay for taking me from Red, he thought. He sighed in anger and laid down, folding his wings around him like one of those blankets that Red used to cover him up with when he was allowed to sleep outside of his Poke-ball. The memory filled his eyes with tears, and he blinked them away as he tried to fall asleep. Suddenly, he heard footsteps coming toward his cage, and he sat up straight. A Rocket scientist unlocked his cage, put a muzzle on him, and led him into the same lab room where Pika and Luma were. More tests, he thought in disgust. That makes 3 today alone!

    As the test tube is lowered down around Luma, she is still able to see her friend, looking more dead than alive, with even more robotic features than he had before. A few tears escape her eyes, dripping onto the bare, metal table. She reminds herself to go talk to him during the few hours they have outside the containers later that night. A red light begins blinking above the test tube as the machine begins to whir, reminding Luma what's going on. She relaxes, ears lowered sadly as the scientists examine her. She is about to go ahead and let herself fall asleep, when she notices an orange form from the corner of her eyes. Her ear perk up and she tries to move her head, but is unsuccessful.
    "Flare!" she squeaks, unsure if she can be heard through the thick glass of the tube.

Hero tried to get the rocket grunt off but It was useless. Eventually the Rocket grunt threw her into a larger cage in the same room as Flame, Luma, and Flare. Hero looked back at herself as the Grunt locked the cage and ran off. She began to breathe hard, having a panic attack.

    Flare's ears perked up at the sound of Luma's voice. He looked around and saw her on the testing table, along with Pika being forced to power the machine. "Luma! Pika!" he shouted, desperately wanting to help his friends, but not daring to struggle against the Rocket Scientist because of the consequences--a beating as bad as squaring off against Giratina, who was supposedly the Devil, according to the ancient scriptures that he'd read with Red. He shuddered at the thought, and let himself be put to work supplying flames to fuel some of the machines. He teared up again, but this time let himself cry, though he tried to hide it from his friends.

    Due to Pika's sudden attack, the examination machine shorts out, causing the glass around Luma to shatter and the machine to fully shut off. Excited, Luma struggles against her bonds, using her ribbon-like appendages to remove the muzzle. She still isn't able to loosen to straps tying her to the table, but she is determined to free herself.

    Hearing Pika's sudden attack on the grunt, Flare smiled to himself, then turned and loosed a Flamethrower on the Scientist. He whipped his head to the side, throwing off the muzzle, and went to help Luma get free, biting through the straps holding her to the table.

    Luma's heart flutters a bit as Flare approaches her, but she gives him a thankful nod as he begins to tear at her straps. As scientist scramble about to contain the uproar, Luma sends the occasional Moonblast at them to keep them away.

    Flare tore the last strap that was holding Luma to the table off of her. He nodded at her. "Come on!" he said urgently. "We gotta get Pika and get out of here!"

    Luma floats off the table, landing gently beside Flare. She glances up at the strange mutation of what she thinks is a Rapidash, though she isn't sure.
    "But, what about her?" she asks, green eyes sparkling with worry. "We can't leave without everyone!"

    Flare nodded, and let loose an Ember attack to melt the lock on Hero's cage door, then pulled it open with his front paws. "Come on!" he said. "Let's go! We gotta get outta here!"
