Bronwyn had been feeling relatively serene lately. She had gotten promoted recently, her clan wasn't under too much stress; life was good.
Life was good, she told herself. It was good enough to go down to the beach and relax there, like she used to before Lucifer drowned.
So there she was, stretched out on the sand, trying to calm down and relax and slow her breathing, when she heard the pattering of tiny paws.
Out of nowhere, a small weight pinned her tail to the sand. Bronwyn opened her eyes warily, prepared for it to be some sort of ambush or attack.
No- it was an otter. A baby otter. It stared at her expectantly, it's tiny paws clinging to her tail.
With a huff, Bronwyn closed her eyes once more. She wasn't going to stop relaxing, especially not for some otter.
A tiny squeak- indignant, even, was heard.
Bronwyn opened one eye and sighed, sitting up and allowing the baby otter to scamper around to her front paws.
"Don't you have a mom or something? Parents?" Bronwyn asked, trying to sound annoyed. Sure, it was adorable, but it was annoying her.
The otter stared back at her, wide-eyed and silent, keeping its little paws perched on hers.
It wasn't going to leave- Bronwyn, at this point, had accepted that. It was staying with her.
Bronwyn exhaled and moved her paws aside, letting it curl up in between them. The otter was now hers.
