  • Applenose opened her eyes. Mist rose from the ground, she found herself staring at bright, healthy, green bushes and trees. Where has the pain gone? she thought in surprise. Had a medicine cat treated her while she was asleep? However, a shocking thought struck her mind. But where am I?

"Help!" she yowled, scrambling to her tortoise-shell paws. "Anyone?" she raced through the trees, her multicoloured tail streaming out behind her. Something made her feel like she could run forever. Flowers and bushes passed her by, along with the faint trace of prey. But Applenose was in no mood to eat. Her mind was set on finding her Clanmates.

She skidded to a halt suddenly. Her green eyes stared, confused at the mist that lay thickly in front of her. Squinting, she could only see nothing but darkness through the thick cloud. "Help!" she yowled, terrified. Where am I?!

  • "Hello, young one," Came a voice from the mist, "I am Dawnstar. If you wonder where you are, you are in Starclan." She walked out, her tiny paws padding on the cloud.

  • "S-starClan?" Applenose stammered. Suddenly she felt like all her insides had been sucked out. She voiced her fears. "Am I.... am I d-dead?" her fur fell flat and her tail drooped. "I'm dead aren't I?"she choked out.

  • Applenose suddenly felt quite dizzy. No... this is just a nightmare... she chanted them silently over and over again in her head. However, everything felt quite real... but yet it didn't. She felt so different...

  • Dawnstar sighed. Can't they just face the facts? "Look down, down in the puddle," She commanded, "Do you see your pelt covered with stars?"

  • Applenose's tail drooped when she gazed into the puddle. The tortoise-shell-and-white lifted her head. "This is no nightmare..."

  • Jaykit watched Applenose. She felt sorry for her but didn't say anything. She was lucky to have them, when jaykit arrived no one was around and she was so scared. She learned Starclan's territory on her own and eventually cats would talk to her.

Applenose sighed and sat down, the yound tortoise-shell-and-white looking at the other StarClan cats.

  • Jaykit sat across from Applenose. "how did you die?" She asked casualy,"You don't have to answer I understand." she quickly added.

  • Swiftshadow always loved greetingthe new arrivals, for she had been a new arrival herself only five moons ago. She still wasn't all that familiar with the Starclan lands, but that didn't stop her from exploring. She suddenly heard voices in the distance, and a warm smile crept across her lips before she even came upon the cats. She recognized two of them as Jaykit and Dawnstar, but the other one looked new. "Hello," Swiftshadow greeted subtly, taking gentle strides towards the new arrival. "You're new here, aren't you?" Her ears drooped and she sat down next to Jaykit and Dawnstar.

  • "Hello" jaykit said to swiftshadow then replied to applenose:"oh im sorry. when i was smaller my brother and i were playing and he pushed me off a cliff into the gorge and i drowned in the river." she thought she should tell applenose about herself instead of talking about her.

  • Swiftshadow was apalled at Jaykit's death, but she just nodded. "That's terrible..." Her words trembled, when she figured she should explain her death. "When I died...It was horrifying. I was lured out onto the thunderpath by...By..." What was that cat's name again? She couldn't remember. "Well, by a cat I had never met, and I was hit...By a monster." She gulped rather dramatically, looking away to add effect. It had hurt so much for the few seconds she was alive, but then she was brought here.

  • "That's a mean cat." said jaykit. "I wish my brother were here now he had a way with words." She couldn't stop thinking about her littermatets and how she was all alone.
