As far as Littlepup knew, she only had one mom, being Lithiumpaw. She was familiar with the concept that she might have multiple parents- even other moms- but surely they weren't really her moms. She'd never even met them. She hardly knew their names. The whole idea of it was so frustrating to Littlepup that she had spent the majority of her morning throwing stones into the stream, kicking rocks into puddles, and stomping on the ground. She was throwing a bonafide pouty fit.

And she was doing it alone, surrounded by trees and boulders, no one else in sight. Littlepup loved her family, but sometimes she liked it this way.

After only a second more of silence, the fronds broke apart to reveal a ten-foot figure, walking gently across the supple earth as it shuddered in response to her weight. The hellhound canted her head to one side, just as she flashed Littlepup a small, tentative smile. She didn't know if the young one knew who she was, or if she was even aware that she had more than one parent, but she had to try.
——She was a mother, too. Although her first litter had long-since disappeared, she cared much for those who shared her blood, whether they were her parent or her sibling or her great aunt from a cousin twice removed. She was a family person, despite knowing that the blood of the covenant would always be thicker than the water of the womb. Nothing mattered more to her than caring for those related to her, and despite the nature of their conception, she loved the litter Lithium conceived as much as she loved her own.
——"Ah, je suis désolé. You probably don't know who I am," she flustered almost immediately, raising one paw and scratching at the back of her head, a testament to her nervousness. She didn't know how the pups would react to her, if they would even accept her as a parental figure in their lives, but she wanted to try. She wanted to be a mother to them, too. They were her flesh and blood, after all, and they deserved as much. She had no idea if the others were making themselves known, if they wanted to be a parental figure to them, too.
——"I'm Talia. One of your parents. You can call me—" She stopped, backtracked. She had wanted the kids to call her maman, to be acknowledged as such, but would they let her, knowing that she lived in a different Clan, knowing that she could not move closer due to unspecified circumstances she would rather not share? The hellhound shook her head and chuckled, still nervous, still unsure. "You can call me whatever you want, actually. You are Littlepup, yes?"[/fancypost]

Littlepup would spin around abruptly, almost tripping over her oversized paws. She had to let her eyes roam for quite some time to reach the ten-foot-tall creature's eyes; it felt like she kept looking up, and up, and up. Littlepup resisted the urge to scream and her every thought telling her to run away, because something- some instinct- told her this beast would do her no harm. And that voice- "There you are"- seemed to be more glad than menacing or evil. The wolf pup knit her eyebrows together in confusion, almost obscuring her blue-turning-amber eyes with fluff.

Before the little wolf could speak, the creature beat her too it. She didn't recognize the first words, which were foreign and seemed crude to her- no more than mumbles. But Littlepup understood the next part, and nodded fervently. "I don't- who-" She started to ask before the creature spoke. Again. Littlepup frowned. Who on earth was this person?

Littlepup's jaw dropped, eyes widened, and ears perked up. She cocked her head in amazement. "You're my mom?" She asked in disbelief and awe. "How did you get so tall? That's awesome!" She bounced up and down, circling the feet of the great creature. She believed it. Lit grinned a little puppy grin and shook out her fur, her tail wagging a mile a minute.

"I'm Littlepup! But mommy calls me Lit or Little sometimes. But when I'm older, I'll be named something cool. I dunno what though." Lit grinned, rattling off a spiel of words, hardly able to stop talking as usual. A little motormouth.

——Talia couldn't help but let out a small, embarrassed giggle at the young pup's exclamation regarding her sheer size. No doubt, she was one of the biggest creatures to exist in her main body (except for the dragons, of course), but she often forgot about such things unless pointed out to her. She'd gotten used to it overtime, used to looking down and making herself appear as small as she could without having to inhabit a different body. She would pull her limbs closer to her body, remain on all fours, lower her head, anything to make her make her smaller.
——She wouldn't admit it, but often times she felt alienated by her size. People either feared her or distrusted her, thought she was an enemy or a threat. When they said she was tell, it rolled off their tongues like bitter lead, like they didn't want her to be so large, so imposing; like her sheer size completely disregarded the fact that, deep down, she was still the same Talia in the domestic cat body, in the snow leopard body, in any body that she had.
——But the way Littlepup said it was so warm, so refreshing that Talia couldn't help but let out a choked laugh in response, canting her head to one side and lowering herself to the ground, paws tucked underneath her furry chest. The leather wings that spread from her shoulders pulled back, settled comfortably close to her body, and the small flowers that decorated her antlers danced gently with the wind. "Oui. I think..? Lithium is your mom, technically. Biologically, I would be your père. Father. But as I am originally a female, I would also be a mother. Maman, if you prefer."
——She wondered if this had been what her own maman had felt when she had children. Talia could feel the affection in her chest, like a fist wrapped around her heart and squeezing tightly, lovingly, until the blood that circulated through her veins were filled with the same, reassuring warmth. "I am what I am, but I have no doubt that you can be too, once you grow. I like your name as it is, chérie. Ma petit chiot." She knew Little probably didn't understand her words, but in that moment her tongue was loose, still basking in the emotions that run rampant in every nook and cranny of her being.
——"Ah, I'm sorry. I'm not usually this emotional," she said with a small laugh, brushing a paw against her cheek to wipe away unshed tears before casting the wolf pup a watery smile. Her wings were expressive, cast down to establish her spurt of embarrassment, before flickering up again as she decided to pull herself together. She didn't want to be weak for her children. "How have you been doing, Littlepup? Have you been settling in well? Seen the sights around the territory?"[/fancypost]

[ my lack of muse apologizes. xD ]

Littlepup looked up at the great beast she now knew to be her mother and her grin spread wider, reaching the edges of her tiny face. One day, she knew, she would grow to be that tall and great- whether physically or metaphorically, Littlepup would one day be known as the great wolf. She would be like her mother- a leader. A friend. A mother. Pure, utter admiration of the familial kind glowed in her amber eyes as she gazed at his mother.

"Maman. I like that," Lit said, wanting to get closer to her mother, but unsure how to. The little tawny and grey wolf looked at her tiny body and legs and then back to Talia. "You mean I can be as big as you one day?" She asked, her eyes wide and bright. "I like ScarClan. I like almost everyone. Virgo can be mean, but he's okay, I guess. When he's not being a poopy-face," She muttered, but her smile returned.

——Something within her chimed happily when the young pup called her maman. Her heart rang in her chest like church bells singing to a new dawn, bouncing against the chasm of her abdomen and filling her with such almighty sounds. Her smile grew infinitely brighter, almost like an approaching sun, coloring her face in shades of radiance, until she looked less like a monster and more like a mother. It was in that moment that all of her hesitations fell away completely, her insecurities regarding the existence of the litter copulated by wanton bodies filled with alcohol. It didn't matter how they were made, only that they existed, and Talia loved them all, she knew.

——She didn't want to play favorites, but Littlepup was definitely catching her attention the most. "Of course you can, my dear. You only need to grow, and it will come in time," she offered sagely, knowing that it hadn't been until her second year of living did she receive such an imposing form. It could take a shorter or longer span of time, depending on the young pup's willingness to learn, but Talia didn't doubt that she could do it, if she put her mind to it.

——"Who's being mean to you? Should I speak with them?" Any child would have worried over the suggestion of a parental figure stepping in, fearing that there would be threats unleashed from her notoriously barbed tongue, but Talia's genuine offer was merely to put a good word in and not lash out. She'd long-since grown past petty needs for vengeance and violence; she only wanted her kids to grow up in a healthy and loving environment. "Say, Little. Have you ever flown before?"[/fancypost]
