[fancypost borderwidth=0; background: url(http://i64.tinypic.com/t9azqs.jpg); width: 195px; height: 300px; padding: 0px; margin-left: -3px][/fancypost] [fancypost borderwidth=0; width: 200px; padding: 2.5px; height: 295px; overflow: auto; text-align: justify; line-height: 100%; font-size: 8pt; margin-left: -3px; color: #000] [i]It took an effort for his broken body to cry, body shaking as tears burned with a fury and spilled from his eyes and down his cheeks. He sobbed, pressing his ragged body against the safety of his older brother, something he couldn't remember but had come to him like the dreams that plagued his mind only for him to find that it was something he didn't have when he woke up.

He clung to his brother like a flea, scared that if he were to even loosen his grip for a moment, a nanosecond, that it would all disappear. He was scared that everything would vanish and he would be left alone in the cold, alone with nothing but himself. It was being alone that scared him most, not snakes or spiders or ghosts, but the torture of being alone and having to talk to himself to keep away the thoughts of hopelessness because he was scared.

He was scared that he would never see his brother, scared that he would eventually start to crumple up and be blown away by the storms that were raging inside of his body, never to see the light, the one that glowed in his brother's eyes when he knew that his little brother would always love him, with every little thing that the little brother did or ever had done. Safety wouldn't want to just have his last moments with his brother, he wanted every moment of the day to live in the joy that radiated from him, for every second, every nanosecond, of his life.

This was something that he knew he would never get but he could try to be with his brother as long as he could, cracked and blunted claws gripping his brothers body, hard enough so that he could assure himself that his brother was actually there but soft enough that he wouldn't break the skin of the thing he treasured most in the universe.

His brother was here, Safety didn't know how long he would be here for, but he was here and Safety would hold him tight, not wanting the monsters of the darkness take him away. They had taken the others, the ones that he had loved and cared for but they wouldn't take this one, Safety would fight and scream if they tried, he wouldn't let them take this one.

He wouldn't let them take his brother.

Safety had fought too much for that to happen, endured pain and horror that one could barely try to comprehend, jagged lines breaking the image of his once almost-perfect body, deep scars that had come from a time of disconnection, a time of naivety and innocence, something seemed so far away that he could barely remember it, scars that littered more then just his body.

There was scars that seeped into his soul, memories that came back with such a speed that it was almost too much for him to take but he had learned to keep from crying, the monsters would see the weakness and use that as something to make his life even more broken then it already was, he had learned to keep his emotions hidden inside, something that built up over months and years until something happened and he broke, scared and confused by the almost foreign feeling of being exposed and out in the open, struggling to keep himself from crying out in terror but he kept it in, it was better that way, he was stronger that way, even if he really wasn't.

The streets were places of death, places that echoed with the empty hope of young souls that tried to stay strong and fight to stay away from the feelings that would eventually overtake them no matter what they did, it was only the lucky that escaped from the desperation that flooded the minds of the ones who were forced to stay on the streets and being lucky wasn't something that Safety was. He wasn't lucky when his mother died and his family slowly got picked off one by one, his innocence taken before he was ready to let it go.

Innocence was something that he was not able to regain but he would feign it, surviving off of the cast-off's the ones who had never truly known poverty had 'generously' given, the items that were worn out and moth-eaten, the cans that were half-filled with food that never really seemed to fill any hungry bellies, it was something to live off until desperation overtook them and they gave up.

Safety wouldn't have to feel the emptiness of one who had given up anymore, he had his brother now, he would be safe from it, he wouldn't let it overtake him because he had somebody to keep him afloat in the ocean of desperation, somebody who didn't know of all the horrors that would invade every single thought that crept across Safety's mind. He would keep it that way, he would rather live than die, he would rather feel joy than pity, hope than despair, he wouldn't let his brother worry.

Everything was fine now, it was all fine, it would always be fine, it had always been fine.

    "[b]I..I missed you. I missed y-you so m..m-much.

    "

He woke up, slowly blinking away the streams of hot liquid that ran from his eyes. His mismatched orbs watched the sky, a ragged and torn shape sprawled across the border with pitch black fur that lay strewn around it.
He felt the painful rolling and shifting of his stomach, not bothering to move as his emaciated form started to get covered in a sprinkling of rain.

    Oh well.

It was a hard world out there. It was a lesson many learned too young, and there were many who were resistant to the idea -namely Quill, on occasion- but it was undeniable in the face of seeing this young child a crumpled heap on the border and in less than preferable condition. His heart lurched in his chest, matching the abrupt jerking of his legs forwards, the wolf tossing aside the match from his mouth to prioritize his energy on the malnourished kitten. "Hey, pal? You're okay now, promise. I won't hurt you. Think you can stand up for me?"

His mouth opened in a quiet grunt before closing, the noise barely breaking the stillness in the air. His paws made a slight movement, drawing closer to his ragged form as it shook with the cold. It wasn't really even cold, even if the rain did lightly fall.

    "[b]Nuh..uh.

    "
The sound bubbled up in his throat and escaped from his lips, the noise was a quiet, slightly grating noise that seemed to make the speaker wince in pain, it probably wouldn't happen again.

Mae asked as she padded up beside Raven and crouched down, laying on her stomach. She laid her head down on her paws to watch the child, not wanting to frighten him by being too big, considering her looked a little nervous, anyways.

He couldn't move very much, that was obvious enough, so why didn't one of them just pick him up and bring him to their camp?

His paw twitched, watching the animals with a vaguely interested look before shifting his gaze towards the sky once more, not bothering to watch the animals if they weren't going to do anything.

  • [align=center][fancypost bgcolor=;border:0;width:450px;text-align:justify;font-size:11px;line-height:1.5]Faustus isn't heartless. He's an asshole, he cared for a small amount of others, but he did indeed have a heart. It's affections were just reserved for certain individuals. Kids were innocent; they deserved not one bit of the Hell that went on in the Earth. He sympathized with the child. He was emaciated, he was weak. Faustus couldn't relate there.

"Don't eat too much; it'll hurt more than starving," the male rumbles, massive frame approaching. He drops the mouse at the child's front, seating himself as he watches. "Get some food into your system."

  • [align=center][fancypost borderwidth=0; font-size: 13pt; font-family: georgia; color: #FD7F3E; letter-spacing: -1px; padding-bottom: 0px][b]Safety Seraphim[/fancypost][fancypost bgcolor=#FFF; border: 3px double #FD7F3E; width: 400px; padding: 25px; margin-top: -3px][fancypost bgcolor=#1C1C1C; width: 350px; padding: 25px; color: #FFF; font-size: 7pt]IF YOU CAN'T GET A CHANCE, WELL IT'S ALL BECAUSE OF ME.[/fancypost]

The scent of blood made his nose twitch, lip curling as the flehmen response kicked in and he took in the wonderful, [i]wonderful

, scent of freshly killed meat.

His muscles protested his movement, making sharp, shock like pulses run through his body as the air was filled with dozens of loud pops and cracks as well as a quiet moan as Safety felt the relief that came from the new lack of tension.

His stomach let out a painful rumble, a strange noise bubbling up and coming out of Safety's maw in response to it, a noise that continued for at least a minute. He hadn't produced it in so long that he almost completely forgot what it was, laughter.

The words of the lion went ignored, he couldn't exactly understand anything that anyone said and he could barely speak, it was a given. He moved himself towards the mouse as fast as he could, which was actually quite slow, and lowered his head, digging his teeth into the still-warm flesh as he started to eat.

The meat hurt as it went down his system, his organs unused to having something to process other then water, and his stomach shifted and gurgled but he kept eating, pausing only to get air.

Safety's stomach was full after a short time, the mouse less than half eaten, and he let out a sigh, rolling his eyes towards the lion for a few seconds before relaxing his muscles, body curled possessively around the mouse as blood stained what little fur he had retained.

Nobody was gonna take this away from him, he could fight them if they tried. His lips curled into a snarl as his gaze darted from creature to creature, exempting the lion, the lion was good, a painful, more funny than aggressive, growl leaving his maw.

It was obvious that he wasn't used to others.

"I'm guessing you have nowhere to go?" The bearded vulture asked as he approached, walking rather than flying over. His mismatched hues watched the tiny thing, his feathers shifting against one another in a fashion that looked- and felt- uncomfortable. He didn't mind the pain though. For some reason, he was actually starting to enjoy it. All three souls within the body could feel it at the same time, and although ranging in ages and relations, they felt like one.
