He seemed relieved as he started eating the ice cream, "so how was the contest?" He asked
-
"I won. Again," She mumbled softly
-
He shook his head, "you hate those things. Why don't you tell your mum you don't want to do them anymore?" He asked
-
"She would start anow argument over it aboutique how far I've come with it and how giving it up would be a sin, leaving no room for me to explain how I feel or what I want and I would be back it square one, where I started," She said, saying it as if she'd already tried speaking to her mother on the subject
-
He sighed slightly, "I'm sorry, Lil. We can talk about something else." He said
-
She nodded
-
"You still not dating then?" He asked, grinning at her
-
She shook her head," How could I? I've been to busy practicing to have anytime for myself."
-
"No crushes then? Even on another music geek at your contests?" He asked, teasing her
-
She shrugged, looking at him
-
He frowned slightly when her phone started ringing
-
She frowned as well, answering," Hello?"
-
"Where are you?! Your party has started without you and your... friend from the contest is looking for you!" Her mum growled, seeming annoyed
-
" O-Oh, sorry mum," She mumbled softly, sighing and glancing at Jamie
-
Jamie frowned at her, "what is it?" He whispered. "Just get home! Your grandma is outside talking to that boy." Her mum snapped and hung up
-
"My mum is passed that were not at my party," She said softly
-
"Ah, then I guess we better go calm the Dragon." He said, getting to her feet
-
She nodded slowly
-
He drove her home but frowned when he saw her grandma in the front garden beside her car. Luke stood nearby, his arms folded and eyebrow raised as Lilian's grandma snarled something at him. Jamie glanced at Lillian but couldn't help thinking he'd seen that boy somewhere
