Ace had just come home from a patrol and was injured this time,he didnt look like it as he wore a black jacket to conceal that he was injured and put on a brave face,a casual face as best he could. When he walked in he looked around for Skylar.
Skylar was cleaning the kitchen when she heard the door. "I am in the kitchen babe!" She called out to him. She was finishing dishes and dried her hands before turning around to see him. She smiled brightly and walked over. "That was a late night." She stated as she glanced at the time. She then stopped and frowned as she looked at him. Sky knew something was off, Ace had always tried to hide things from her but didn't do a very good job at it. "You are stiff, you seem weary, you haven't taken off your jacket yet, you came home very late, and you have that look on your face as if you are trying to act like nothing is wrong. Maybe if I didn't know you you would fool me but I do. What is wrong?" She spoke as if she were speaking to a child. She crossed her arms as she stared up at him. "What happened?" She asked.
"Call liz and Rage. It's an emergency." Ace said as he unzipped his jacket and took it off to reveal a gun shot wound to his shoulder. There was blood all over his shirt and it was starting to make him dizzy. He didnt try to hide the pain anymore,he winced as the jacket came off,it was a sharp pain and he could feel the bullet still within his skin.
Skylar gasped once she saw the wound. She was quick to him and grabbed his jacket to toss it aside. She helped him take off his shirt and dropped it to the ground. Blood stained his skin and he was still bleeding though it was slower. She grabbed her phone and quickly called Rage and Liz telling the to come now. "Let's get you to the couch." She spoke and wrapped her arm around his waist. Sky brought him carefully to the couch and set him down. She walked away but a minute later returned. She grabbed alcohol from the kitchen, a rag and the first aid kit that had tweezers, a needle and thread. "I will wait for Liz and Rage to arrive but we are putting pressure on it now so it will stop bleeding." She spoke to him. Sky gently placed the tag over the wound after cleaning some blood away from around it and pressed down. "I'm sorry babe." She whispered to him.
"Dont apologize you didnt do anything wrong." Ace said before wincing at the placement of the rag on his wound. "Sh*t that hurts..." He said through the wince,he hoped Liz and Rage would arrive soon.
He did get his wish as they arrive 5 minutes later having been down the street on business. They knocked on the door hoping someone would answer and quickly.
Skylar mumbled swear words under her breath. She looked up at the door then back at Ace. She grabbed his hand and placed it over the tag. "Hold it there." She commanded him before getting up. She was quick to the door and couldn't help but glare at the two. "Next time just come in." She spoke rushed and walked away from the open door and back to Ace, though she stayed away knowing they would take over.
Rage sighed "It was locked...." He said plainly before walking quickly to ace,Liz following him.
Liz looksd at Skylar "First aid kit! It's under the sink in the bathroom!" She called to Skylar. Rage lifted the rag and inspected the wound "Well youre lucky it didnt hit anything important like a major vein...." He said with a sigh.
Skylar sighed and watched Ace before looking to Liz. "I already got it." She spoke and grabbed it next to her and handed it over. She sighed relaxing hearing that it didn't hit anything too important. She had so many questions but decided not to ask anything yet. She would wait for Liz and Rage to leave.
Liz and Rage quickly worked together to fix up Ace's bullet wound and removed the bullet before hand. There was a lot of wincing and a bit of yelling when taking the bullet out but they managed to remove it. They patched him up before packing up and leaving. "Dont let him get up...I gave him a pill just a second ago so he is gonna be loopy. If he doesnt something stupid call me,and make him take another one in 12 hours." Liz said before leaving back to where they had come from.
Ace laid on the couch still conscious but very dizzy,he was staring at the ceiling unsure of what to do. He was in a lot of pain but the pill Rage gave him would take affect soon and he would be loopy and possibly out cold.
Skylar jumped and frowned as she watched them work. She hated seeing Ace in pain but knew they were helping him. She nodded her head as she moved over to Ace. "Thank you." She called after them before focusing back on Ace. She sat down on the ground next to him and grabbed his hand. She brought it to her lips and kissed it softly. Sky kept her eyes on Ace as he laid there.
Ace looked at Skylar and smiled a bit "I love you babe...and im sorry for scaring you."
Skye sighed softly and shook her head. "It's ok. I am just glad you are better now. We can talk about it later." She spoke and leaned up to kiss his lips. She got up and walked away, slowly pulling her hand from his. She walked into the kitchen and made some soup for him to eat if he was still awake.
The pill Liz gave Ace slowly started to take affect,he felt a lot less pain but he felt nauseas and could barely keep himself awake. He was groggy and definitely couldnt walk though he did shift his legs best he could while laying on the couch. Ace couldnt exactly tell up from down and left from right and attempted to sit up only to fall back onto the couch. "D-Damn it..." He said in a groggy manner,he sighed and shifted a bit towards the couch to face the back cushions.
Skylar made soup but left it in the kitchen as she checked on Ace. She smiled softly seeing him and walked to the back of the couch. She folded her arms as she rested them on the couch then set her chin on her arms. She looked down at Ace and watched him momentarily. "Babe, go to sleep. Get some rest, you need it. I will wake you in a little while." She spoke quietly to him. "I love you." She whispered as she moved and kissed his head. Sky went back to the kitchen and put his soup in a container and in the fridge so she could hear it up later.
Ace nodded and slowly fell asleep as Skylar had told him to do,he loved her far too much to say no and was far too tired to argue.
Skylar went upstairs and to the balcony after going into their room. She had a book and sat on the balcony in one of the chairs and her legs crossed in the seat. She sat there for a while and read her book. After a while she had moved chairs to one she could lay back in. She read more but eventually fell asleep with her book opened on her chest still holding it.
Ace woke up a couple hours later still tired and groggy but not wanting to go back to sleep. He looked around for Skylar,staying on the couch as to not anger her in case she was near.
Skylar remained asleep on the balcony for a little while longer. She was exhausted, she was up all night worrying about Ace then up early this morning as well.
Ace yawned and shifted to face the tv,he assumed Skylar was still asleep.
Skylar woke up and stretched with a groan. She got up and walked down the stairs. She saw him awake on the couch and walked over. She sat where his feet were and placed them on her lap. "How are you feeling?" She asked softly.
