  • [align=center][fancypost bgcolor=; border:0px; width: 450px; font-size: 7pt;text-align:justify;margin-top: -6px][hr]the creamy kitten let out a horrified wail as his icy blue eyes shot open, oh no. he must have been sleepwalking again and fallen into the river's current.

"help!" he shrieked, causing river water to cascade into the seal point's maw, filling his lungs with earthy liquid. he sputtered, flailing his limbs about helplessly before being sucked under. he'd really gotten himself into trouble this time, hadn't he?

  • [fancypost bgcolor= transparent; border: 0px;][justify]"Bite my tail!" Saavedra yelled as he ran further downstream, hoping that the current wouldn't drive the kitten towards the center of the river. Adrenaline pumped through his body as the male stretched his rump towards the youngster. Well, this wasn't exactly a pleasant situation but it was the only solution he could think of.

His eyes blinked wildly, head twisting over his shoulder to see if the boy had been submerged underneath the clear waves. Was Orion dead? Had he hit his head on a rock? Did he drown? These thoughts plagued the silver-colored kitten as he began chewing on his gums.

  • [justify]The scream for help tugged at Warblerwing's instincts, forcibly pushing her into a fight-or-flight state as the mixture of the river and Orionkit had echoed in the air. As she listened further while she ran, she heard another kitten-- but it all was drowned out by the sound of blood roaring in her ears.

Unfortunately, when she arrived at the scene, Saavedra was not able to assist the damsel in distress. Time was running out for the kitten.

Warblerwing found herself launching from the air and seemingly flying towards the river, slamming hard against the water's surface without giving a time to wince at the pain. She churned violently through the water with a stoic look sprawled across her scarred face, and when she didn't see the pale kitten, she fell underwater.

The Riverguard soon spotted her and propelled her back legs towards Orionkit, aiming to grab the youngling by the scruff and push up to safety. Her muscles ached as she reacted so quickly, fighting against today's harsh stream, yet she played with mother nature and fought to the water's surface, still clutching Orionkit firmly between her teeth.

Her small paws paddled towards the surface as she tugged the kitten along the river's push, dropping his soaking body along the mud while also panting slightly. She tried to hide her sudden exhaustion, but it was true that the aging she-cat was pushing her limits.

  • [align=center][fancypost bgcolor=; border:0px; width: 450px; font-size: 7pt;text-align:justify;margin-top: -6px][hr]he'd briefly spotted saavedra before the water had swallowed him, but once he'd gone under he couldn't really see anything besides stirred up mud and sand. he was terrified -- was that the last thing he would ever see? his heart pounded so hard in his chest he could feel his pulse in his ears and his lungs started to burn, begging for air. is this what dying felt like? well, he would soon find out it seemed.

    or maybe not.

what was happening? he felt a tug at his scruff and the sensation that he was being lifted... to the heavens? surely not, it didn't feel so nice. his body flopped onto the ground like a dead fish. weakly lifting his drenched head, he choked out a mouthful of muddy water before whipping his head around to meet the pair who had came to his rescue.

"thanks," he managed a raspy mew. "i-i think i sleepwalked right into the water, how embarrassing... um, where am i?"

  • [fancypost bgcolor= transparent; border: 0px;][justify]"RiverClan," Saavedra replied with a nod. He had been sure that the kitten had been a RiverClanner. Who else lived near this particular river? He couldn't think of any other groups. The idea that non-RiverClanners lived so close to his home was a bit mind-boggling. However, the tom remained composed and even patted Orion's back with his left paw. "So, where are your parents?"

"i'm sure they'll come looking for me, don't worry. until then, they can't boss me around." he grinned. "is it okay if i stay here until they show up? oh yeah, and my name's orionkit. it has something to do with the stars i think." he shrugged, shaking some mud from the creamy pelt clinging to his slender frame.

[justify]Haise jogged up in time to catch Orionkit's statement, and gave him a kind smile - he wasn't one to turn down people in need, especially ones that were this young. "It's good to meet you, Orionkit - you're welcome to stay here as long as you want to." Orionkit - that was an interesting name, but Haise liked the sound of it.

  • [fancypost borderwidth=0px][justify][size=8]Another brought by the river. Maybe it was a sign from God, or maybe everyone was just stupid. Tessellessence didn't know. He didn't really care anyways. The silvery kitten approached, his eyes critical of the soppy, muddy three-moon-old. "I'm Tessellessence," he greeted in a monotone voice "Pleasure."

  • [fancypost borderwidth=0][justify]"H-Hello," the riverguard murmured as he hobbled over, muted gaze sparking briefly as they landed on the sopping wet kitten. Aspenpaw sank to a stop beside Tess, tail curling around his injured paws. Orionkit hadn't been in the water for long, but Aspenpaw knew that the river could be make you chilly no matter how long you were in it. "Are y-you c-c-cold?"

  • [align=center][fancypost bgcolor=; border:0px; width: 450px; font-size: 7pt;text-align:justify;margin-top: -6px][hr]"nice to meet you all!" he chirped. well, that's what his parents would say. so that was fine for him to say, wasn't it? in his short life he had been sheltered, kept in a bubble for some reason. so now he was a little naive to the ways of the world.

"it is a little cold but... i think i almost just died so i was too freaked out to notice." he nodded in response to aspenpaw, his attention now being drawn to his damp, mud-encrusted pelt. he wasn't used to getting dirt on his pelt, gross! "i'm usually not so... erm... covered in mud." how was he going to get all of that off? his parents always made sure he never got dirty, and if even a single speck was spotted it was immediately washed off. he began rasping his tongue over his usually sleek cream-colored pelt. ick, dirt didn't taste so nice.

  • [fancypost bgcolor=Transparent; border: 0px; width: 400px; margin-center: -5px; text-align: justify;]—[color=white] [size=10px] The girl padded over on her tiptoes just in time to watch the new joiner be pulled from the river. [color=#0077dd]"Nice swimming, Orionkit. You should try out for the Olympics," the girl complimented the joiner as she tried to give them a pat on the back. Too bad that wasn't how her joining went. That looked like so much fun. It was much more exciting than sitting at the border and droning out the stupid 'name and business' like she had done. Maybe she could redo it? No. Her joining was just fine. She'd jut have to spice up everything else she did to make up for it.
