riku was new. not very interesting or exciting, no special skills to make him stand out; just
new. and he wanted to make some friends. he was shy, stammered a lot, and sort of nervous,
but had a good heart and wanted to find other riverclanners to talk to. he thought that he could
call a meet-and-greet. then, he could introduce himself to several different cats, and make a
whole lot of new friends! the idea was enough to get him excited! "meet and greet here!" he
called out, a warm smile on his maw.

he was shocked that the head riverguard and the clan's leader approached. two riverclanners
of high status, stopping to talk with him! riku's cheeks warmed up and he laughed softly, a
smile on his face once more. "nice to meet you b-both, frenchstar, haise sasaki! my name is
r-riku!"
the tom replied quickly. how many others would he get to meet? he had no clue
how many, but he hoped that he would meet a lot. maybe even skippy would come and introduce
him to her friends!

• Warblerwing was not as high ranked and socially important as Frenchstar and Haise, although she was still a RiverClan who offered her attention to the little Riku (no matter how temporary that would be). She was but a Riverguard, a newly promoted one at that-- as new as Haise.

Her dark furs laid smoothly down beneath the hot summer sun's stare, yet her gaze seemed as cold as the winter's frozen lake; this stare was planted directly onto the newcomer, although she did not mean to look so cruel and unforgiving. Perhaps it was just the deadpan expression she constantly wore, or maybe it was the large scar that ripped and splayed her features. Or... just her personality.

"Hello." The tortie would break her quiet streak as she finally joined the circle of RiverClanners, flicking the tip of her thin tail ever so slightly as she gazed at the other two from the corner of her eye. Ultimately, after a few seconds, her haunting green eyes were placed back down on the kit. "My name is Warblerwing." Her rank was left out, seeing that she deemed it as irrelevant. Riku could think of her as a warrior or elder, for all she cared.

"h-hello!" he called to warblerwing. the scar on her face suggested she had seen a lot
of battles, and that she was probably a very respected warrior. "nice to meet you. i'm riku!"
the kitten replied warmly.

"Riku!" Skippy called out in greeting as she strode over with a small, energetic bounce to her step as she appeared in front of him. "Oh! I see you've met my friend, Warbee, here," she added, almost saying "sister" in place of friend. That was a close call, as she assumed the game was still going on. Competitive in nature, the fiery torbie point was unlikely to back down to any challenge.

he turned to see his adoptive mother approaching nimbly, calling warblerwing the name "warbee",
which he found sort of cute. "hi, mama!" riku called out. calling her mama was an odd
feeling, because he had only ever called his birth-mom that, but now skippy was his mother, and
that title was given to her. "yes! she looks really strong," he commented.

• Hearing Skippingstone's voice made her head stiffen, especially when she heard the same old nickname she had been gifted; she could have sworn that she heard Jager call her this as well, and it was clear that it was becoming... infectious.

While Warblerwing's expression remained unchanged, it latched onto Riku temporarily. "Please do not call me that." She had said directly to the kitten; she knew that her sibling would not stop, but she did not want the young one to pick up the habit. However, as a quietness settled in for a few seconds, she gave a late reply. "It is a pleasure to meet you as well."

• [fancypost bgcolor=transparent; border-width: 0px; width: 450px; font-family: arial; font-size: 8pt;]A familiar voice called out, and the small female found herself carried in its direction, joining up with the small crowd that had already gathered.

"H-hello, Riku." Tea murmured softly. She cast the others a brief, sidelong smile, before her gaze found purchase back upon the kitten's smaller figure. "It's good to see you again." While the rest of the lot all seemed vaguely familiar, it was Riku's face that stood out most to her amongst the many individuals who'd had their features cataloged within her self-conscious. Teabones supposed it made sense. After all, hadn't the young kitten been present at her joining? The thought filled her with a surprising warmth. It had not been too long since she'd first found herself within RiverClan's folds, and already the dark feline had developed a certain sense of camaraderie.

Perhaps it was a wishful notion, but maybe some things were simply meant to be?

• [fancypost borderwidth=0]The next to shuffle over was Aspenpaw, the mottled apprentice sinking to his haunches with a slight wince, injuries still fresh and raw. He was seated a bit away from the group, dull teal oculars flicking briefly over to the others before making their way steadily back to the one who had called the meet and greet. Riku, was it? Aspem really was in no mood for introducing himself to new members, no mood for talking, really, but he supposed that this was an obligation. "As-Aspenpaw."

• [fancypost borderwidth=0pt; width: 400px;]
Well, he and Riku were pretty similar. They were both tiny bundles of nerves who weren't really special in any particular way. Sammy looked at Frenchstar and offered his step-sister a tiny smile before looking back at Riku. "Hiya, my name's Sammy! What's good, my man?" He asked with a nervous grin plastered on his face, hoping his street talk was on par with the kids these days.

• [fancypost borderwidth=0px; width:500px]Two pairs of alabaster-colored paws moved in a direction just left of the group. Steadfast knew none of these felines, and he was definitely not going to immerse himself into them. However, the warrior didn't have any obligations to simply observing, so he sat himself down near the edge of everybody else and listened.

It took zero seconds before he heard Warblerwing being called 'Warbee'. He did not know the feline, but Steadfast knew he would never want to be called 'Steady' or anything along those lines. The cream-and-white tom felt that it was in his duty to stand up for her. After all, he was a serious little prick.

'If I may... I do believe it's rather rude to call others name that they wish to not be called.' He growled quietly, his eyes turning into slits. 'I'm Steadfast.'

•
[fancypost bgcolor=transparent; bordercolor=transparent; borderwidth=30; overflow: auto; width: 370px; height: infinitepx;]
warblerwing didn't seem too big on nicknames or socialization, but riku didn't mind that too much. maybe she was just shy! "t-teabones! hello!" he purred to the older black-and-yellow-eyed fem, the smile on his maw widening upon seeing her familiar face. teabones stuttered, tequilapup stuttered, and.. aspenpaw approached, seeming to have a stutter as well. he wasn't alone! "n-nice to meet you, aspenpaw!" the little tabby mewed softly. another kit appeared - things were getting crowded, which made him a little bit nervous - but they seemed nice enough. "h-hi, sammy. i like your n-name. i'm riku!" riku started, unsure of how to respond to the tom's later question. what's good? my man? i don't understand it.. another cat, oh yes, another one approached, this one seeming to be a really grouch. riku liked nicknames, quite a lot, but steadfast didn't seem to like them much. "pleasure to m-meet you, s-steadfast!" he said quickly.

• For a moment, the Riverguard was not paying attention and did not heed Steadfast's presence; she was beginning to painfully sear from her body, slowly dissociating, but his defense in her favor forced her ears to crop up. "Oh." Was her simple, mechanical reply, although she was quick to calmly give a (thankful) response. "I am used to Skippingstones calling me this, I just do not want it to spread to other members thinking that they are close enough to me to label me with a... nickname." She made it sound as if Skippingstones was her friend... which she wasn't. Or at least, in the tortie's eyes. Skippy still made her feel vaguely uncomfortable, as if knew something she didn't; but also, Warblerwing had no friends. She had acquaintances, like Skippingstones, but no one she'd consider to be a friend. "But thank you, Steadfast."

It wasn't that she was shy, but much more had a tough time struggling with outwardly expressing her emotions and whatnot; it was even hard to bring life in her everyday speech, which was mostly why she spoke in short phrases. Giving speeches or telling stories was something she loathed, though it occasionally cropped up and she would do it. Just like how she would occasionally travel, but regret it after due to her aging bones.

• [fancypost bgcolor= transparent; border: 0px;]Warbie, Warbie, Warbie. At this point, the tom wanted nothing but to say the nickname. He wanted to scream it. Saavedra began mouthing it, hoping the riverguard wouldn't notice. Saav didn't want to anger her but the name was suddenly ingrained in his head to a point where he was practically exploding.

He could see why she disliked it. It wasn't particularly dignifying. But it was infectious.
