"I'm glad you feel safe around me. Means I'm doing a good job... I just hate this happened." he turned and gave a strained smile, "Heh. This is probably the worst first 'date' ever.
"Well you turned out well yourself." Reginald said.
"I'm glad you feel safe around me. Means I'm doing a good job... I just hate this happened." he turned and gave a strained smile, "Heh. This is probably the worst first 'date' ever.
"Well you turned out well yourself." Reginald said.
"It wasn't that bad," Pericolo said, "I've had a lot worse."
"Ah, I suppose," Alois said, "Not as bad as could have been."
TORTURE gave a uneased laughed, "Right. Heh." he managed and looked at his gas meter, "I need to grab some gas after that. Let me do that and I'll take you home. And don't worry. If we run into anyone else it'll be some of my co-workers." he told as he started to drive off again.
"Same here." Reginald said. "I could be a mass murderer." he laughed.
"... You're really not doing that bad," Pericolo said, "Most of the men I've dated were either dicks or only wanted sex. You've been such a gentleman this whole night. So you really shouldn't worry about it."
"Bit of an overstatement there," Alois said, "You're too nice to be a killer."
"Here here." he sighed, "That's why I left my past relationships. It was either that or I ended up arresting them for something. Kinda ruins the mood ya know."
Reginald laughed and winked, "I must do good job of hiding it then."
"I understand," Pericolo said, "And I'm sure you've had to deal with prejudice because of your job. I know I have."
"No, you couldn't be," Alois said, "Too sweet, too much of a cinnamon roll."
"You have nooooo idea. Cops are looked upon as crazy but people still respect us for doing it since it seems like an impossible job. The miners are held in higher regard then us officers." TORTURE said.
Reginald laughed. "I suppose so." he said as they walked up to the front door of their house and Reginald opened the door.
"Try working at a strip club," Pericolo said, "I don't even dance and they still call me a slut. And the amount of sexual harassment some people think they can get away with, simply because the men are sex workers is disgusting."
Alois stepped inside, still holding Reginald's hand and waiting for him to enter as well.
"Seems we both have it bad then. I get shot at on a regular basis and called the devil most of the time as well as scum bag and many colorful names I wish not to repeat." TORTURE said. "And once some people find out you 'swing for the same team' they reeeeally criticize you as an officer."
Reginald came in after him. "Why don't you go on ahead and get a shower, darling. If you hungry I'll make you something before we rest."
"At least that's expected at the Cabaret," Pericolo said, "The best thing you can do is prove them wrong about everything they say about you. Show them who you are and what you can do."
"Am not hungry," Alois said, "I will be back after shower." He gave Reginald a quick peck on the cheek then walked into the bathroom and started the water.
"Yeah. And hope I don't shot in the process." he sighed, "Though that happens too. Think I've been shot about 8 times since I joined the force. It's kinda common...." he seemed to think about something. Then they pulled into the gas station and sure enough some of his co-workers were there either getting coffee or filling up their squad cars. "I'll be back in a few." TORTURE said getting out of the car. He was more shaky then he expected so he got up slowly then made his way around to where the tank was as some of the others walked over.
Reginald flopped down on the nearby couch and sighed wearily. He waited.
Pericolo watched them warily, remembering what TORTUER had just said.
In about fifteen minutes, Alois was back out in nothing but a towel. He sat down next to Reginald, smiling sleepily.
TORTURE began filling his car up as the others started talking to him. They all seemed worried about how shaky he was. It wasn't like him at all to be like that, and he had someone in the car with him.
TORTURE could barely be heard explaining what had happened to them.
The officer just outside of the window, "do you think that guy is dead? i mean the sand port does have a drop. we should go look."
TORTURE shook his head, "even if we did go we wouldn't find anything. that guy is long gone. he's still alive. i think he might have been a young mafia guy. not sure."
Reginald smiled at him. "Give me a few and I'll be out. Don't want a nice clean man touching a dirty, gross man." he winked getting up and walking to the bathroom.
Pericolo tried to eavesdrop without looking like he was listening, a skill he had learned while serving drinks at Cabaret.
Alois leaned back comfortably in the couch, waiting patiently.
"but why would they target you? i mean we've done our best to stay away from them when we could. well at least till we have enough info to bust them." said a woman in the group.
"why wouldn't they. we are cops and we are trying to find them out and stop them. if it was some small fry he might've been out to just stop me. we have found out we're dealing with a mafia turf war almost. it's only a matter of time before stuff like this starts happening.." TORTURE told.
"if they've made a move on you they'll probably make a move on the rest of us soon." said another man and they all nodded at what he said.
After about the same amount of time Reginald came out in a towel. "We'll get dressed up stairs in room." he smiled and sat down putting an arm around Alois.
Pericolo continued to listen, making a mental note to ask MC about all this the next chance he got.
"Or we stay like this," Alois suggested playfully.
"guess that means you'll have your car in the shop again, huh." said a fox boy. (Damian.)
"yeah. carnage is not going to be happy with me taking up a spot in her shop while i fix the car up and repaint it. they know my car now. i have no choice but to change it again." TORTURE sighed.
"well good luck with that vixen." said an older wolf man (Sleuth), "so. who's the civilian you go there." the man said gesturing to Pericolo.
"a carbanet worker. i'm giving him a lift home tonight." TORUTURE answered.
"didn't think you hung around that dive. isn't it a-. dude. i didn't know you went back to the same team." laughed the woman.
TORTURE blushed, "shut up, musket." They all got a laugh out of this and one of them patted him on the back, "yeah yeah. give me a break guys. i thought it was time i got back out there."
"yeah. guess you've gotten over the last one trying to kill you. time to get back out there. you need someone to live in that house with you anyways." one teased.
Reginald looked at him slyly, "Someone seems playful tonight." he laughed then kissed him, "If you want to stay like this we will. I wont force you too though."
Pericolo's face got slightly red at the thought of living with TORTUER. He had been blushing a lot that day.
"Does not matter to me what you decide to do," Alois said, "But I will not be wearing clothes tonight. Too hot outside."
"oh stuff it, slash. i just met him today. i'm not going to have him live with me till he's comfortable around me and i'm sure of him." TORTURE shot back at the man.
"seems someone's unsure. don't go getting cold feet on us. this one will slip away if you do." said musket.
The pump turned off signaling that the tank was full, "whatever guys. anyways." he said removing the nozzle from the car and replacing it, "don't worry about what happened with the tail tonight. you wouldn't be able to see anything anyways. it's too dark. i'll go investigate it in the morning before i start my patrol." they all nodded. One toke the money for the gas and toke it inside to pay for his gas while TORTURE got in the car.
They all left then returning to their own cars.
"Sorry that toke so long, Pericolo." TORTURE said putting his seat belt on. "I was almost out of gas. If that chase had gone any longer and we would've been in trouble."
"Yeah. I agree. It is too hot tonight." Reginald agreed.
"It's a good thing they crashed, then," Pericolo said, "Do you think they would've killed us?"
"It could get hotter if you wanted," Alois teased.
