Vespertilio is the Latin word for 'bat'; the founder of the family, Rasiel, chose this name as bats are known to been cunning, cruel, and even a bit menacing in lore and such despite their slightly small size.
Relations. Now, the relations are a little complicated, so it's best to keep up.

There are a few rules! Any cat should carry the last name, but it's not necessary.
Obviously, your character doesn't have to be a cat, and can be in any of the clans.

Yes, you can be adopted into the family, you don't have to be born into it. If you just want to be adopted as a brother, or child, or uncle, or adoptive 'grandparents/parents' or other 'friends-turned-family' then just say so!
[size=9pt]If you have a (Gen.1 or NamedFemale x NPC) character that is between the ages of 9 moons and 16 moons they can be the child of a r.pist from WindClan named Markedscar [Whitedragons father]. These kits can be in literally any clan, Markedscar really didn't care about his kits much.

Family reunions. Now, there will be family meetings now and again, but not often--they do have their own lives to live, after all. It is not mandatory to attend these meetings since some won't even know that they're related or wont want to go, but it is nice to get together and discuss how everyone is doing and get to see all the family again c:
A lot of family members have died or gone missing since Whitedragon passed and left the family to Hearthkit.
