She won almost every contest she entered and she quickly became a legend around Oahu. When she graduated, she was immediately offered a job in modeling, along with an almost full ride scholarship to a coast college of her choosing, and an invitation to compete in the WSL. Literally everything was going her way.[/fancypost]

[fancypost bgcolor= ; border: 0px solid black; margin-top: -11px; width: 300px; height: auto; font-family: calibri; font-size: 11px;][justify]The first competition of the competitive season is coming up and Crystal is favored to bring it home. However, when she's out on her board, something happens. A storm rolls in the night before, making the waves completely ruthless on the day of competition. Nonetheless, the show was set to continue as planned. Some of the surfers backed out, due to impossible conditions, but Crystal had a name to uphold. She was too arrogant in believing that nothing could happen to her.

For a while, everything was going okay. Crystal was doing great, nailing every attempt she made. Then came the big one. It was big and rough and no one was expecting it. Crystal was thrown from her board and while she was being thrown around under water, she struck a rock and broke part of her back. With that, everything was over.

When she was found, the next day, it was a miracle she was still alive. She was rushed to the hospital where she went through multiple surgeries before being released. From there, things only got worse. The doctors told her she may never walk again and the chances of her surfing again were nonexistent. Her life was over.

Upon losing her legs, Crystal has no choice but to return to school in a wheel chair. She begins studying physical therapy but she hates every bit of it. She struggling in the class when Muse B (you) approach her and offer your help. She doesn't recognize you, but you're someone she knew from a long time ago and you know her. Over time, the two of you fall in love and crazy things begin to happen.

Okay, so here's my first post ^_^ This is kind of lazy from my normal writing but it's late and I've been meaning to get to this all day, so here it is :)

    IC:
Today was the day. Crystal had been waiting for this competition all winter. Training and photo shoots had taken up so much of her time up until now. It would be nice to add kicking butt to her list of things to do. Once she was dressed, she stared at her reflection in the mirror. Dropping into her surfer stance, she narrowed her eyes and punched the air in front of her for effect. Something about this day just felt right. Something big was going to happen.

There were a lot of comments going around that the competition should be cancelled. Rain had practically flooded the island overnight and the waves were bound to be rough. To say it would be dangerous would be an understatement. That was all the more reason it needed to be done. Someone had to show the judges what surfing really was.

Leaving her room, she headed to the kitchen where the rest of her family, as well as her loving and supportive boyfriend were waiting for her. Her two older brothers were horsing around but both stopped when she walked in.

"G'morning, Crys," her oldest brother Jackson said with a grin, walking over and ruffling her hair a bit. She ducked out from under his arm, laughing as she walked over to the island in the middle of the room. Pulling herself up on the stool next to Matty, she planted a light kiss on his cheek before grabbing a mango from the bowl in the middle, leaning her thin body against the side of the island as she began to carve into the fruit.

ooc; that's okay! Work has has me busy for a few days so I apologize for the wait c: I hope it's okay that o named the other brother and played her dad xD

Matthew had arrived at the Fletcher house rather early that morning. He had parked his truck in the cement driveway just as the gulls had begun to cry overhead. The sun had been high, already casting it's rays out to warm its surroundings. It wasn't unusual for him to be fashionably early and normally he would be chipper, bouncing around and tussling with Jackson and Alex, but that morning, he remained stoic with a tight-lipped smile. He had spent the better part of two weeks trying to discourage Crystal, but nothing could deter her. Matthew admired her fiery spirit, but sometimes her intelligence elevator didn't go all the way to the top.

Emotionless green eyes took in the scene; the usual people were present. Crystal's mother and father were there, putting together lunches with assorted items that varies from fruit and nuts to energy drinks and water. Jackson and Alex had started off simply standing about but ultimately ended up in some sort of standing wrestling match. They were a dim light on a dark day. Matthew allowed his eyes to travel around the room, only stopping when they reached the window. From his viewpoint there wasn't much he could but what he was able to pick up wasn't enticing. Outside the wind had been picking up at a constant rate, ruffling the limbs of the palm trees, sending them whipping side to side. Stray leaves and fallen white feathers flew about in a whirlwind, winding and twirling until they fell, only to be scooped up once more. Despite the sun, dark clouds began to gather towards the east and though he couldn't see it, Matthew was sure the waters were getting rough. His attention was torn away by a familiar voice.

Matthew's gaze softened immediately when he saw Crystal. The girl was as stubborn as a mule but he loved her more than words could explain. "You look ready to take on the world", he commented when she stood by him. The withdrawn look left his eyes and face and in its place say a warm, anxious smile. The edges of his lips curved upward as he reached to tousle a few strands of her hair. "The wind is picking up", he added before grabbing the glass of water in front of him that he had fixed earlier. As if on cue, her father nodded and pointed at the four paned window. "No one would think less of you if you called it quits...." Like Matthew, he was in the same mindset.

Sorry for the late response ~

    IC:
Crystal rolled her eyes at her father's comment. "Of course they would, Dad," she said in exasperation. She'd been arguing with everyone for the past two weeks, trying to convince everyone that she could do this, that a little storm wasn't going to stop her from making her name in the sport of surfing. She'd been trying to work her way up for so long now. One little screw up could ruin her career. "Guys, if I give this up now, I'll never get back to where I am. There are plenty of other people who are going on with the competition today, why should I be any different?"

Biting into the first slice of mango, the young teen sucked the juices out like a vampire. Even Jackson and Alex stopped messing around when her father had addressed her. It was no secret that everyone in the house wanted her to abstain from the match. None of them thought she could do it, not her parents, not her boyfriend. To most people, this much disbelief would be discouraging. To Crystal Fletcher, it just made her want to try harder. She had to prove that she wasn't just a little girl.

"Look," she said, after a few minutes of devouring her fruit. "I'm going down to the beach in a while and I'm going to walk around. If I think the water's too rough or whatever, I'll think about dropping out." The words were vile on her tongue and she knew as she spoke them that they weren't true. There was nothing short of a hurricane that could stop her from surfing. "Matty's coming with me," she announced at the end.

If nothing else, Crys wanted to be alone with her boyfriend. She had been thinking of her family's shack on the beach, somewhere she and Matthew had gone many times to watch the waves or talk. Sometimes the talking wasn't with so many words, but rather the way their lips moved against each other or the way the sand felt beneath their skin. The small building held many great memories for the young surfer and she was glad to know that many of them included her loving boyfriend.

It was along the lines of what Matthew had expected back. He bit back a sigh and simply nodded, sharing a quick glance with her brothers and father. "No one would think less of you. They would probably tell you that you were smart." Was it a jab at her intelligence? A smile nearly crossed his face at his own somewhat rude remark. He had never understood her infatuation with others opinion of her. He didn't give two shits what anyone thought about him or what he did. Matthew glanced at her and shook his head again. "I think your safety is a bit more important than another trophy to put on the mantle." Already he could imagine the line of trophies and assorted ribbons she had. Surely the mantle would fine without one.

Over her shoulder, Matthew watched her father smile a little. Encouraged, he nudged her shoulder before taking one of the mangos for himself. They weren't his favorite but they had such a nice taste. "Lets go take a look at that water." He always enjoyed looking at it, especially when it was choppy and rough, but it was the mentioning of the shack that enticed him. Memories came flooding back to him. It has many special moments around it; there first kiss, first fight. Matthew faintly remembered him freaking out over a sand flea he had nearly stepped on some months back. "I might just push you in", he added with a small chuckle. So much tension was in the room and it made him uncomfortable. A crappy joke was the best he could do to try and ease it.

Crystal visibly rolled her eyes at Matthew, recognizing his snide comment about her intelligence and choosing to keep quiet. Looking back at her family, she sighed and discarded the remainders of her fruit. "Thanks for being worried and all guys, but you're not changing my mind." She resented the fact that they thought she was just worried about another trophy. Crystal didn't care if she won the tournament today, she just knew she had to show up. It wasn't just a match. The rest of her career in surfing depended on this. She was still considered a joke by half of the island and if she chickened out today, she was done.

Pushing off the counter, she decided to change clothes before leaving for the shack. As much as she liked the surf-suit, it wasn't something she wanted to be wearing for the next six hours before the competition started. "Be right back," she said before jogging up the steps to her room. It didn't take long at all for her to switch into a loose, flowy, white, sleeveless shirt and a pair of torn jean shorts that came up past mid-thigh. Pulling her hair back out of her face, she looked casual yet pretty. It was a good look on her.

Jumping the last step, the 18 year old skipped back into the kitchen, spinning on her sandal-clad feet before putting her arms out for show. With a soft smile, she walked back over to where her boyfriend was sitting, grabbing his hand and pulling him from the chair with a wink. "We'll see you guys in a while, okay?" She didn't really wait for a response before turning and leaving the house with Matt in tow. Once they were out the door, she relaxed, her eyes on the sand in concentration as she started walking towards the beach.

In honesty, it hurt a bit that no one in her family had any faith in her victory today. All they could do was worry about how dangerous it was. News flash: it was always dangerous. It wasn't even the worst part that her family had no faith in her success, but even her own boyfriend had lost hope in her pulling it off. The whole thing was unsettling and discouraging. With a soft sigh, Crys kicked a rock out of the sandy path towards the beach.

Instantly, the coolness of the house was swept away by the warm breeze. Atleast its comfortable. The wind whipped at the thin grey t-shirt that surrounded his torso, its edges tickling the parts of his skin that it touched. It brought a smile to his face as he watched Crystal. The thought to apologize didn't cross his mind as he watched her. Everything about her was perfect. The wind lifted tendrils of her hair and dropped them gently back down onto her thin shoulders. Unlike most girls, she didn't need a pile of makeup. She was beautiful without a hint of eyeliner or mascara and if she were to walk out in a rumpled potato sack, Crystal would still look perfect to him.

The sound of the rolling rock tore him from his thoughts. "I don't think that rock did anything to you.." Matthew finally said in a teasing tone. He knew she was frustrated with them, him including, but he wasn't going to act like he wasn't worried about her. Whenever she went out and the waters were rough or choppy, he couldn't stop the worst from crossing his mind and until she returned safely ashore, he was a nervous wreck. Her hand was small in his own as he gave it a gentle squeeze to get her attention, to get her to look at him. "You look beautiful, you know that." He had wanted to say it since she came from her room, but had chosen instead to keep quiet. Matthew heard her soft sigh and bit the inside of his cheek, silently cursing himself for even opening his mouth of the competition. Without another word, he brought the mango he had grabbed to his lips and took small bite.

"The rock was in my way... And I don't let little things get in my way," she responded, tearing her own vision away from the sand to look up at her boyfriend. Her tone was light, but in it was the familiar sense of stubbornness that tended to drive people crazy. All the same, she couldn't help but smile when she looked at his face. It had always been hard for Crystal to stay mad at her boyfriend, even when he deserved it. There was just something about him that ended up making her warm inside. All she could do was grin and blush when he squeezed her hand and complimented her.

"Thanks..." she said, not looking at him out of fear of severe blushing. "You're not too bad yourself." Teasing, she squeezed his hand back. After a few steps like this, she managed to corral her feelings and look up at him, her bright green eyes sparkling in the spotted sunlight that managed to poke its face through the palm branches above them. Finally, she found her voice. "What do you want to do once we get to the shack?"

The shack was the young surfer's favorite place in the world and even more so when Matthew was there with her. It was still relatively early in the morning, 8:00 a.m. maybe, and the competition didn't start until 2:00 in the afternoon. This gave the two a little less than seven whole hours to do whatever they wanted without interruption. The mere thought alone excited Crystal beyond belief.

Matthew gave her a wide grin and began to gently swing his hand and hers back and forth. "You know... I hope you don't think that I think you can do it", he began in reference to the competition,"I just worry about your safety is all. You kick ass everytime you're on that board." He himself couldn't even get up onto the board until after the eighth try, much less stand up on it. He had tried a few times and had even attempted to use it as a way to impress Crystal when he had first seen her. That, of course, had not ended well. Matthew assumed it was his silly antics that made her come to him that day because it certainly wasn't his amazing surfing skills.

At her words, Matthew let out a snort and turned his dark but warm gaze to her. "Not that bad!", he exclaimed in a dramatic tone, his hand going to brush her cheek. "You my dear, seem to be forgetting who the beauty is in this relationship." At her next question, a mischievous grin upturned the edges of his mouth. Matthew was a guy, afterall, and much like it usually did, his mind came up with a stupid yet slightly amusing- to him- response. "Cry, baby, I can think of about five good things i'd like to do. But if your brothers or dad decided to grace us with there presence and saw me with that dear sister and baby girl, they would feed me to the sharks." He winked and let his gaze wonder out onto the water. He was sure Crystal knew he was only joking- Matthew could think with the head on his shoulders too. "What do you want to do?", he finally said.

"The thought has occurred," Crystal admitted when he suggested she kick him. She listened to him as he told her he believed in her and doted on how good she was on the board. As he spoke, Crys thought back to the day they'd met. She'd noticed him at first, just as any girl would notice an attractive, shirtless boy on the beach. In the beginning, she had watched him subtly, sneaking peeks between waves. It wasn't until he wiped out on his own board that she swam over to help him out. She had offered to teach him to ride but even then she could see he was a lost cause. Her motives had been selfish, hoping to spend more time with him. In the end, everything had worked out... everything except for him learning how to surf.

A sweet laugh filled the air around them as Matthew teased about him being the better looking in the relationship. Of course, the young teen didn't argue. Like I said, one of the first things she'd noticed about him was his striking good looks. Since she'd known him, he'd filled out more, working up some pretty nice biceps and a set of abdominals that turned Crystal's stomach to butterflies. Crystal, herself, was rather tall for a girl, but Matthew had her easily beat - not something she was complaining about. When it really came down to it, the surfer's favorite thing about her boyfriend wasn't his perfect brown hair or his rocking abs. No, her favorite things were little, like the way he laughed at something she said or the way his cheeks curved in to make perfect little dimple indentions. The way their hands fit together was like something from a movie. All she could do was smile as he joked about his looks.

However, when he responded to her question as to what they should do at the shack, Crystal's eyebrow shot up in curiosity and amusement. "Oh really?" she teased back, taking her eyes off the transitioning rock to sand path in front of them and looking up at her man. "Well, first of all, Jackson and Alex are working in town until the tournament today and my dad has to go into town to run some errands or something. Mom's spending all day cleaning the house. Second, it's a big beach. They don't know where we're going. Third, fear of my family has never stopped you before." Nudging him playfully, she smiled down at the sand. "As for what I want to do? Your idea sounded pretty intriguing..." She let the words hang in the air as she loosened her grip on his hand. With another playful shove, she freed her hand from his and took off down the sandy path towards the open beach, leaving him to follow her. She was teasing as much as he was but the idea wasn't a terrible one.

He was sure she had kicked him before for something and unlike most girls in there area, she was strong. Crystal had made him say ow on more than a few occasions. But he didn't mind. It was immensely fun, not to mention attractive, that he was with a girl who could wrestle him like a man- and beat him. "Lets not", he finally replied and glanced at her. He fell silent after a few moments and let his gaze wander out across the sand. If not for the dark clouds overhead, it would have been such a lovely day. The breeze was warm but when it was blowing so close from the water, it was cool and refreshing. Out in front on the sand, he watched a few small sand crabs scampering around, the tiny legs like lightning. He grinned to himself and toyed with the thought of grabbing one and putting on his girlfriend. But her next statement distracted her.

"Oh.. So dads away.. Brothers are away.. Mother is clueless..", Matthew began casually. His mind was running rampant things as well as memories as to what conversations like this has led too, not that it was necessarily a bad thing. "I have no fear of your family but your dad.. Crys, he's a big guy." Granted, the man seemed as harmless as a basket of kittens and resembled more of a giant teddy bear, but looks could be decieving and he had never seen the man angry. "But you know, if you're willing. I can definitely make en excep-.. Hey!" Breaking off with a choked laugh, he watched her take off, tossing sand up behind her. It wasn't such a good thing because she was nimble and quick on her feet just like he was. Matthew took off after her, a delighted smile on his face. In front, he could see the mass of hair bouncing around Crystal's shoulders.

The wind rushed through Crystal's hair as she ran along the slightly windy beach. The shack was in sight and thanks to her head start and the equal amount of athleticism shared by her and her boyfriend, Matthew hadn't caught up yet. With another playful laugh, she began to slow down to let him catch up. When she looked back to see how far back he was, all she could do was smile. He was gorgeous and the way the wind caught his dark brown hair as he ran after her was completely irresistible.

Upon reaching the small building, Crystal came to a complete stop, pressing her back against the wall by the door. Her eyes were lit with amusement and her chest rose and fell quickly from the amount of effort it took to run in sand. Still, the smile on her lips persisted and she was more than ready for him to catch up. Brushing hair out of her face, she watched him approach, not moving as he did. Something about this felt mysteriously important to the young teen, but being just that, she didn't question it.

"What exactly was it you were saying?" she asked sweetly as he got closer. "I could be the exception...?" Gradually raising her eyes to meet his as he got closer, Crystal stretched out her arms to take his hands again. She wasn't going to run this time. She was exactly where she wanted to be and one of the most important people in her life was right there with her.
