In the past, he'd been turned mortal before - twice, actually. Both by Zeus, his father. They had only been for about a year - which was basically equivalent to one month or so for an immortal, maybe less. It had been.. mildly bearable, actually. But this particular instance was different. For one, he was a plump little house cat - before he'd been human, at the very least. Although he knew some other gods who took the forms of animals, he very much preferred that of a handsome young human with tan skin, tousled blonde hair and great abs. This was.. less desirable. Also, back then he'd retained some of his powers - like super strength, and telekinesis and whatnot. They just weren't as powerful. Here.. He felt completely drained of any power. Completely weak. Completely mortal.

Still, he would push his limits. That was why the young ex-god sat off to te side of camp, leaned slightly forward, staring with great focus at a pebble near his paws. He was trying to lift it - with his mind, of course.

Cory had left his little den to explore more parts of the territory since the only places he knew my heart was the beach and camp. He practiced on the beach and even went fishing - loving the salty flavor of fish and other crustaceans. But, he also collected a variety of shells from hermit crabs who grew too big for their little homes and searched for a new one. Damn, he wanted a pet hermit crab. As the swordsman began to go to a route he picked at random, his eyes spotted that former God who had joined recently. Might as well make small talk, right? "Uh, hey - uh? What're you... doing?" He was... staring a rock as if it was going to move itself. This guy was weird... he liked that.

  • [align=center][fancypost bgcolor=transparent; borderwidth=0px; bordercolor=transparent; width: 325px;][justify][size=9pt]Apollo released the breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding, his caramel gaze flickering up to Cory. A small pout crossed his features. "You broke my concentration - curse this to Tartarus! I swear I almost had it.." he blurted out suddenly, his voice bubbling down to a mutter by the end of his outburst. Normally, him cursing something to Tartarus would cause the very ground to open up and drag said cursed thing to the deepest pits of the Underworld, but not now. Not while he was mortal Apollo. Not while he was Mittens the cat.

His tail twitched irritably as he gave a dramatic huff. "I was trying to move this dumb rock. You know.. levitate it. Usually I can do that. Why do you ask?" He tried to interact with mortals - hell, even demigods - as little as possible, but that was becoming hard to do, now that he was one of them.

The pout that he'd given Cory made him chuckle, a smirk rising upon his lips. Cute. Broke his concentration? What was he concentrating on - the rock? Tartarus. Gods were certainly strange. Well, he had been a god for probably the majority of his life and was suddenly changed into a mortal... cat. So, his assumption was sort of right. He was trying to move it, mentally. "Well, I don't think it'll move by you starin' at it. You're scarin' it so it's not gonna move. Try asking it nicely to move." Of course, he as totally teasing him. He even gave a small laugh to prove he was totally joking.

  • [align=center][fancypost bgcolor=transparent; borderwidth=0px; bordercolor=transparent; width: 325px;][justify][size=9pt]Apollo scowled, flattening his ears. "C'mon, I'm not an idiot!" he retorted, "I know you can't talk to rocks." Even still, he was half tempted to try.. just to see if it would work. Fortunately he refrained, instead glancing back towards Cory. "I may not have much experience as a mortal, but I was a god." It pained him to speak of his divinity in the past tense. "I doubt being a mortal is half as hard as having godly responsibilities." Actually, he didn't have too many responsibilities as a god, besides 'don't destroy the world' - but that didn't need to be mentioned.

Eager to change the subject away from his own weakness, Apollo flicked his tail. "Oh, right! I've been meaning to ask.. You mentioned earlier that you weren't entirely mortal.. Are you a, uh, a demigod, then? Or something else?" Cory gave off the aura of an immortal, but what sort exactly he couldn't tell.

Flashing the tawny and white male a cheeky grin, snickering with pure mirth. "Well, you can but if they talk back then there's a problem," he responded with a laugh in his voice, smiling wide. His irritation seemed to disperse but replaced more with emotional pain to mention his past. His smirk faded and was replaced with a mildly reassuring small smile. Being a mortal was certainly harder than the seemingly luxurious life of a god. He would choose to be a god any day than to live with these mundanes. "You'd be surprised of how difficult it is.." he mumbled with disdain, his lip curling over his teeth briefly before his tail flicked and he huffed.

Blinking, Cory shifted across Apollo's younger features before diverting his gaze to stare at the ground with a slightly saddened expression. "Part angel, part mortal. I'm a Nephilim." he murmured, drawing his paw across the ground to draw shaped within it. His metal tipped claws sliced through the soil with ease and he tilted his head to the side as he illustrated an angel's wing. An amused smirk rose on his lips and he gave a chuckle. "Wonder where my wings are."
