Randall stalked along the border, ears flickering at any crunching of leaves, nose twitching. He was supposed to be the leader, but he still had to perform the mundane tasks like border patrol that all younger members were supposed to perform. His red fur blended in with the soft brown of the leafy ground. He'd memorized the forest by now, as he was supposed to, and he predicted that the river was nearby just as his ears picked up the trickling sound.

He didn't like border patrol. It was boring, and nothing ever happened. He was just walking around the forest. Maybe he should just ditch the job. If he did, his dad would get mad. He grumbled. Maybe he could just distract himself. He looked around, then transformed back into a human, sitting down by the river. In his pocket was his phone. He took it out. Yes, service! He leaned back against the tree, took out his earbuds, and began listening to a song, texting a friend who wasn't in the pack.

Ada was at home, waiting for a couple of packmates to return from their border patrol. Her house was the base, located in the center of the neighborhood in which the whole pack lived. It was a Saturday, so no one was at work nor school. It was still quiet around here, however, so she could relax.

The music blasting in his ears kept Randall from noticing anything, until he glanced up towards the river. Huh, looked like someone from a different pack. The lighting was interesting, making the wolf's fur almost sparkle. He reached into his small bag, grabbing his sh*tty digital camera. He wished he had something better, but it was nicer than his phone camera and he wasn't allowed to do stuff besides lead the pack.

He turned it on, and shifted slightly so the angle was better, adjusting the focus manually. Soon, the wolf was in the frame and focused. He liked how the water and the fur near each other both glittered, and the green of the nearby foliage. Very aesthetically pleasing. He pressed the button-- click!-- and realized oh sh*t she could probably hear him. He shoved the camera back in his bag, standing up straighter. Nope, no nerdy hipster here. He was Randall George, the f*cking heir to the Alpha pack, he could do what he wanted. Unless it was photography.

Randall had already learned to turn being flustered into being angry. It helped his image, making it so people didn't think he could be weak for a second. "No, obviously not. What would give you that idea? And what are you doing out here, anyway?" He crossed his arms, automatically standing up straight. His posture was generally hostile, which made it less likely for people he didn't know to approach him, which he liked.

He looked at her a little more closely. She wasn't part of the pack. "You're an Omega, aren't you. What the hell do you think you're doing here?" He had a growl to his voice, a little bit of wolfishness seeping into his words.

Okay, Randall should really think about his words. He could still fix this, right? He could still save this. "Am I not allowed to be in my own pack's territory? Obviously not. It's none of your business what I'm doing here." He rolled his eyes, sighing heavily in annoyance. When will she leave? It was annoying how much she was asking questions. He just wanted to be alone for a f*cking second, couldn't he have that?

Randall stared at her as she looked away, temper flaring. "Don't ignore me when I'm talking to you!" He wasn't used to people blatantly disrespecting him like that. He started down the hill to the river, feeling frustrated. Today hadn't been a good day, and this he wasn't tolerating. He was the heir to the leader of the alpha pack, for f*ck's sake! He deserved respect. He deserved to not be ignored.

Randall shifted into a wolf, brightly colored fur glinting in the light. He growled, standing across the river. Why wasn't she moving? Wasn't she scared? Wasn't she intimidated? He didn't think it would get this far without scaring her off. He couldn't back off now. Honestly, he didn't really want to fight her, but... she disrespected his authority.

Maybe he could still try to freak her out before he had to resort to violence. He stepped into the river, growling in an intimidating way, not getting any closer as the cold water washed around his paws. All talk and no fight, people said. That was a lie. But... he didn't want to fight this girl.

Randall stood there in the river, getting his damn paws wet, for nothing. Hackles raised, he gave her one last snarl, and turned back, climbing up the hill to his bag. He transformed into a human on the way up, grabbing his bag off the ground and glancing back at Elinor. He didn't have the guts. No one better find out about this, or he was in for humiliation. He glared back at her, starting to walk off.

Randall paused at Elinor's shout to him, and then looked to see Freddy. Anger flooded through him, and he stalked towards Freddy, fists at his side, feeling nothing but fury. He grabbed him by the front of his shirt, teeth bared. "I think you should shut the f*ck up before they have to walk all the way out here to find your body." He was well-known for his angry outbursts, but like hell did he care.
