In the year 2163, Russian terrorists bombed America, managing completely destroy most of the East Coast, including all of Washington D.C. Most of our political leaders were killed in the bombing. Without a government to lead them, America fell into anarchy. Most of America were to panicked to do anything about it for years. Everyone was terrified that the Russians would return... But they didn't. In 2169, a group of soldiers and some of the remaining political leaders began to form. They began to plan how to put America back together. They were semi-successful... The managed to reform an army to make the citizens feel safe. Then they started cleaning up the East coast. But this seemed to be exactly what the Russians wanted... Knock the enemy down, but let them get back up before finishing them off. About a year after Americans started working on fixing everything, the Russians attacked again, this time with an army instead of bombs. At the safe time, they began attacking areas around them. It soon became World War III. And we were losing.

In a desperate attempt to win the war, scientists from many countries got together and started an experiment on animals. They took injured animals off the streets and gave them new limbs or whatever they needed, while at the same time, they put a special chemical, which had been in development by the American government for years before the war, into their blood, attempting to give them special abilities. These animals became known simply as 'The Experiments'. Most of the animals died, but there were a few groups that survived the tests. Some of them were actually successful, though most of the survivors came out with dysfunctional or only half-working powers. And some of them... Some of the them went insane. Well, that's what the scientists thought at the time. They would attack anything and everyone they say, animal or human. The scientists locked them away. It wasn't until one of the facilities was discovered and attacked by Russians that the scientists realized that the animals hadn't gone crazy, but their commands had been messed up in the tests. Instead of attacking Russians, they were working for them.

The scientists started sorting the Experiments into smaller groups. The successful tests were given the title The Saviors and were sent into the battle. The failed tests were called The Abandoned and were locked away. The traitors were named The Killers and were also locked away or executed. Though, the Russians did break into facilities and free them quite often.

The war raged on for years and years. By 2198, there were more animals fighting then their were humans. By 2234, almost no humans remained. The remaining humans were hiding away. All the animals had been released, though there were less then a hundred of each group left.

The animals had been around humans and had been controlled by them for so long that they began to develop human-like personalities. By the time the war ended, they complete understood human culture and tended to use some of the human's ideas in their own lives.

Now that both sides had fallen, they seemed to return to almost normal lives. Almost. Instead of dividing off by species, they divided into their groups. The groups still fought, but not constantly like before. Over times, the groups developed enough to work with their own ranking system of sorts. Each group now has it's own belief and it's own spirit world.

Each animal has 3 letters a 2 numbers in there name. The first two letters stand for something. In DBX07 the DB stand for Death Bringer. The X stands for experiment, and the numbers stand for which creation she is, so there are at least 6 other animals with DBX at the beginning. She is the only known living of her type. They also get a nickname, like Scarlet. Any questions? Just ask.

    1. No powerplaying. Your character can have powers, but that does not make them unbeatable. The will get hurt, and they could die.
    2. Don't kill another person's character without their permission
    3. Don't start any plots that will affect the whole group without asking me first.
    4. Cussing is allowed. These animals have been around humans for so long they've developed human-like personalities. That's the way it is. Please don't complain about it. If you don't like it, don't join.
    5. No relationships between groups. The humans implanted things in the minds that set an automatic kill switch when they see someone from the other group, and there is no changing that for the current moment.
    6. Please use at least semi-decent grammar.
    7. This isn't really a semi-advanced roleplay, but please don't do short posts like 'He sat.' Or anything like that. make them at least a line or close to it.
    8. No OOC fighting

The Abandoned are located in one of the few remaining forests in America. It's rather small, but it's something. There really isn't a camp, thought most animals tend to sleep near Scarlet's den. They gathers just outside of Scarlet's den if there are meetings.

    IC

DBX07, or more commonly known as Scarlet, woke to a bright light shining in through the entrance of her den. She opened her eye slowly, blinking to adjust to the light. Her vision was a bit glitched through her mechanical eye for a while before it finally steadied. Even then, she saw strangely. One of her eyes saw these in a lot of detail, while the other saw things normally.

She sat up and stretched her legs before leaving her den, which was a huge oak tree with a hollow trunk.

Callie woke to the sound of quiet pawsteps. It was a warm, sunny day today, and she was looking forward to a good hunt later. She padded out of her den under the roots of a large, part-fallen tree. She saw Scarlet leaving her den and mewed "Good morning, Scarlet!" What do I say next? Do I engage in small talk, friendly banter or nothing at all? Do leaders do small talk? Should I have said anything at all? Callie shook her head, trying to get those useless thoughts out. Well, let's just smarten myself up first and worry about stuff later. She sat down next to her den and began to groom her ruffled fur.

Scarlet looked down at Callie with a soft smile. She easily noticed the level of nervousness in the animal's voice and her movement. She wasn't surprised. Most animals were either intimidated by her appearance or just nervous to speak to her because of her rank. Still, she answered Callie in a kind voice. "Good morning, Callie."

  • .. .. .. Ah, so they had awaken already. Flint's cold gaze grew warm as he sauntered over to the others, black optics flickering from Scarlet to Callie. Flint's tongue flickered in and out of his parted maw, and took in the scents around him. Anxiety flooded his senses as his visionaries fell upon Callie. What was there to be anxious about? Nothing much had seemed to happen over the last few days, and the group seemed to be at ease for the time being - Well, that may have been the issue. It had been too quiet for too long. The reptile's head shook slightly as he cleared his mind of the thoughts and loosened his tense muscles. No, nothing was going to happen. He could relax for once. A smile adorned his snout as he focused on the positive aspects of his current state. " Good morning to you both, I assume you slept well?" The large lizard said whilst coiling his tail around himself, " I haven't had my usual nightmares for quite some time .. Things just might be looking up for us." He added with a wistful grin, although his mind was clouded over with dread. Something wasn't right, and he was sure of it.

Scarlet's gaze flicked over to the lizard, where it lingered. She was silent for a few seconds as she took in his words. Her mind drifted off for a short while, as it often did. She did not believe peace had come, even with the humans almost gone. She did not believe the war would be over for a long time.
She quickly regained her mental awareness when she realized she had not yet answered. "It would be a lie to say I have slept well once in the past moons, but I am glad to hear that your mind is at rest." She said in her usual, calm voice, despite her words.

  • IC: Val sits in her little nest of moss and leaves, staring into the distance. Honestly, most people find her at least a little disconcerting… especially ones that have something to hide. She suddenly realizes that the others are awake, and blinks, stretching out, her coppery pelt glinting in the early morning sunlight. "Ah. Good morning." The tigress rumbles softly.

    OOC:

  • BDX06, or Rose, woke up to the sound of conversation. She stood up, shaking dust from her fur. She blinked sleep out of her eye. She padded to the sound of the conversation, searching the clearing with her one good eye, "How are you?" she asked them.

    //LOW MOOSE (Muse)

  • .. .. .. Hm, so Scarlet wasn't sure about the peace either. This could mean nothing good. " The calm before the storm." Was all he croaked in reply, expression blank and unreadable, until he spotted Val.
The large reptile's head turned to Val, gaze had grown warm, but was now a bit duller than before. He didn't like being around things maybe two times larger than him, it had caused him to become slightly uneasy with the tigress around - But he did his best not to show it, as he also hated others seeing him as weak. " Good morning Val .." His gaze fell upon her resting place, " I just don't know how you can stand all those mosses and leaves .." The lizard added, eyes fixated on the bed she had made herself. Flint was used to sleeping on plain ground, or preferably, sand. Moss and leaves seemed like a nuisance to him, in all honesty.
Rose had awoken as well? He hadn't even heard her pad over, the sound of her voice was all he heard before turning his head to meet her gaze with black optics. " Not good, I'm afraid." He responded grimly, " Scarlet and I believe it has been too quiet for far too long ..." The lizard spoke in a wistful, yet firm, tone. Eyes glazed over with a dull fear of what lie ahead of them.

The post was edited 1 time, last by Flint. ().

  • IC: Val gives a purr-like chuckle. "It's a nice warm barrier between me and the ground." She replies, standing up to shake it out of her fur. "And I agree. It's quiet, but the way it is when the birds fear singing."

    OOC:

  • She nodded agreeing, "It has been too quiet for my liking. I've only had just one nightmare." she said somewhat nervous. She shivered thinking about her nightmare. Though she thought, it wasn't really a nightmare... More of her reliving a horrible moment in her life. She thought she might be concentrating too much on her nightmare slash memory, she unfocused her mind, so she wouldn't be shocked.

Callie simply nodded or in someway acknowledged the recently awoken, choosing to keep quiet. She did not share their suspicions or their nightmares. All she thought of this calm time was that it would mean a great meal later! The grey cat looked around the clearing in the hope of finding someone not involved in Doom-Omens-and-Destruction-fest.

Scarlet chose to stay silent throughout the rest of the conversation. There was honestly nothing for her to say, anyways. She knew most of her group shared her own uneasiness of he war's aftermath, but she could not predict the future... None of them could, really, so she could not go telling everyone more trouble is to come... Maybe peace had truly come?

  • ALX-35, the final experiment in the AL series, lay in his spot off to one side of the camp. He did not venture into the dens at all, really. Why would a creature that need not sleep reserve a place in the sleep quarters? At least, be thought he need not sleep, but recently he had felt a long hibernation coming. It was still a long time off, at least another few decades, but he felt it all the same. It was a slight desire to just sleep for a few decades, to not worry about the world and simply recover himself. Draco closed his eyes, eyes that were vaguely reptilian, and rested them for just a few moments, thinking on the conversation he could not help but hear.

It amuses him, really, these young creatures fussing about doom portents and overly quiet days. ALX had lived for 200 years, he would simply tough out any hardship that came. Surviving a war in its entirety, from start to finish, brought a different perspective on hardship. Most of these animals only saw the tail end of the war, and the others simply saw a modest portion of it. He was, as far as he knew, the only one to see it all.

The ALX program did, after all, predate World War III. It had started in 2020 as a successor to what was designated the AMX program, or Artificial Microbe Experiment, and he, the 35th one, was the first actual success, created in 2077. He knew that his creators were disappointed that their first success was deemed a failure by their superiors simply because they could not remove his free will. Sometimes he thinks that they intentionally made it impossible, that they wished him complete free will. He certainly did not want to be used as a weapon.

He did not dwell on this for long, as there was not any way to know now that the facility was in shambles and almost all of humanity exterminated by their infighting. For now, Draco rose to his feet and approached the small group that had formed, not to join in, but to end it. He rumbled in his deep, booming voice, "Whatever is coming will come. There is no reason to fret about it, we should simply be ready for any hardship that may come."

  • IC: Valkyrie nods. "True." I'd just rather see my comrades like this… not as spirits. That would be extremely painful. she thinks. It does make her curious, though, what her powers will mean after death. Will she still be able to speak to those in the world of the living? It seems she already has a paw in both worlds… perhaps that will continue to be the case.

    OOC:

  • RMX01, otherwise known as Kiaanu, was one of the newest members of the group. He sat to the side watching the others. Being old for a trainee, he didn't converse with many others feeling awkward and shy. He hoped to do some training later, not wanting to have one of his "episodes."

  • .. .. .. Flint sauntered over to stand beside Draco. His tail making a large sweeping motion behind him, as he stood with confident posture beside the other. " I agree. Let us not fear the difficult times ahead - That is in the future, and still being decided. There's no way we can prepare for something that is uncertain." His black, beady, optics grew grim and solemn, " We will stand beside each other as though we were blood relatives, and battle whatever lie ahead with all the strength we posses." The large lizard dipped his snout in Draco's general direction, hoping he got the whole gratitude message through to the other. This speech had lifted a lot stress off of his shoulders, but even through all of it, the reptile still couldn't say the true word for blood relatives. He'd breakdown if he managed to get the word out of his maw. Family. That was the word. Flint had seen his family die, and although it was through a surveillance camera recording, it was still as real as if he'd seen it beforehand.
" Alright, our food stock is low, should a few of us head out and scavenge for scraps?" The komodo croaked out, gaze shifting from one person to the next, waiting for approval. Really, this was just something to get his mind off of the previous, vivid, memories.
