• [fancypost borderwidth=0; width: 375px; text-align: center; font-family: georgia; font-size: 8pt; opacity: 0.95; letter-spacing: 1px]roman rodwell

    lights, cameras, celebrities.

roman adored her older brother, ryan, but his luxurious lifestyle was putting a real dent in her study time.

he was the lead guitarist of a band he had formed in high school with a few of his best friends. while it would be a lie to say that roman didn't indulge in the spotlight as "sexy" ryan rodwell's younger sister, there was a time for huge parties, and two weeks before a major test was not one of them.

with a sigh, she leaned against one of the two pillars marking the entrance gate to their immaculate mansion. it would be a while yet before people so much as began to leave. that meant that she could either leave now and find a place to hide out, maybe at her friend's house, or she could stay and get completely- illegally- plastered.

she was weighing her options when, from behind her, there came a tap upon her shoulder.

  • OOC: This looks great, btw I'll do my best currently battling my phone and it's ridiculous amount of auto-corrects. Also I figured I'd make him somewhat mysterious like he goes only by his nickname instead of his actual name.

    IC:
    "Crow" Davis

Crow stumbled out of the house finally catching some fresh air, for him it was getting to cramped despite the size of the house; he was never really a fan of big crowds. Honestly he was thinking about just ditching the party and going back home until he saw Roman. He stood there for a second studying her, she seemed a bit confused like she had something on her mind. As far as I know Ryan just said not to get with her, one little conversation won't hurt, Crow thought to himself. He gently tapped on her shoulder, "Hey there."

The post was edited 1 time, last by Crow Minizuko ().

yes, that's awesome! thanks for joining!

    ic:
at first, roman was expecting a drunken celebrity to be tapping upon her shoulder, perhaps trying to bum a ride home. when she recognized crow, however, her shoulders relaxed. a curious smile melted across her features as she nodded a greeting.

"hi," she paused a moment, eyebrows furrowing. "if, uh, you're looking for ryan, i'm pretty sure he's upstairs on the balcony." well, that's where he was a half hour ago, at least. at this point, she was almost certain that her charming older brother would have lured somebody into bed with him.

roman repressed a snort at the thought. had she the mind for it, she could have been doing the exact same thing... but, really, all she craved was a split second of peace and quiet; a place where her bones were left untouched by the vibration of the bass emanating from somewhere inside.

  • OOC: More than happy to join

IC: "Nah I'm actually probably going to head out, besides it's way to crowded in there for my liking, it's practically like an oven with all those people in there partying," Crow said before letting out a yawn and stretching. "Besides if I know Ryan he's probably off with some girl in there."

  • [fancypost borderwidth=0; width: 375px; text-align: center; font-family: georgia; font-size: 8pt; opacity: 0.95; letter-spacing: 1px]and, wouldn't you know it, even crow knew that ryan had made off with some pretty face. laughter burst from her lips, and she nodded her agreement.

"amen to all that. i'm almost positive somebody's having sex in my bedroom as we speak." under most other circumstances, roman wouldn't have even cared. this was what she signed up for when she came to live with her brother in the first place.

still, she was a touch surprised that crow was heading out. this party was in honor of his band, after all. of course, being a part of a band didn't make him this godlike figure, as innumerable girls throughout the world had come to see him and his band members as. he was still human, and all humans needed space to catch their breath.

"but it sounds like you have the right idea to me. i'm thinking about asking a friend if i can crash at her place for the night." if said friend was even awake at such an ungodly hour. what was it? one a.m.? two? she had lost track of the time long ago, as her phone was charging, safe and sound, under her bed.

  • "Than again he is the lead in the band so I guess I can't really blame him, he always loved being the center of attention," he said laughing. "Well if you need to I can give you a ride wherever your going, or you can crash at my place I've got a spare room sense my parents left. Besides pretty sure you'd have to be in a comatose to be able to sleep here with all this noise." Crow said making a small joke.

  • [fancypost borderwidth=0; width: 375px; text-align: center; font-family: georgia; font-size: 8pt; opacity: 0.95; letter-spacing: 1px]♕♕

roman quirked a softly angled eyebrow. she glanced over her shoulder, then back at crow again. after an extensive silence, she asked, "you're serious? ryan won't... you know... bite your head off?" for a brief period, there was no telling whether she was kidding or not. her dark eyes were wide, almost solemn, and her lips were set into a grim line.

all facades must crack at some time or another, of course, and hers did so in record time. in no more than five seconds, the corners of her lips had tugged into a teasing smile.

"if it's really no problem, it'd be great if i could stay at your place for the night." ryan would hardly give the arrangement his stamp of approval... but who said ryan had to know?

for the first time, she really looked crow over. she'd never talked to him much. they exchanged a few words from time to time, but it was always polite, meaningless conversation. still, if ryan trusted him, then he must have been a semi-decent guy. plus, he was offering her an escape, and she would have been mad to turn such an opportunity down.

  • "Hey it's no problem besides Ryan knows none of us will try anything, it's not like he has to know your heading out anyway, come on my cars over here," he said before pointing it out. Crow had no intention of wanting to be flashy or flaunt his money. He had an old Dodge charger with a new black paint over it to cover the age. He swung open the drivers side door before turning the key. "She may look old but she gets me to where I need to go, he said before the engine roared to life.

  • [fancypost borderwidth=0; width: 375px; text-align: center; font-family: georgia; font-size: 8pt; opacity: 0.95; letter-spacing: 1px]♕♕

crow had a point. ryan didn't know she was heading out; he had his hands full getting wasted.

she followed him over to an old, classy black car. it was nothing fancy, certainly not compared to the porsches and maseratis her brother had accumulated since acquiring his wealth. still, something about it was nice, and, when she got inside, she discovered it was comfortable, too.

as soon as she plunked down into the passenger seat, she was hit by a strong whiff of familiar cologne. she caught whiffs of it here and there when her brother had friends over, but had never thought anything of it until now. buckling up, she glanced at crow and tipped her head to the side.

"i like it," she announced, giving her nod of approval. lips curling into a smile, she scooted back and folded her hands in her lap. "screw all those expensive sports brands. who needs those when you have a car like this?"

her mind had been preoccupied for quite some time, as it was only now that she realized just how cold she was. a spray of goosebumps covered both arms, and, just as quickly as she came to realize this, she was lunging to shut her door.

"could you maybe turn some heat on, though? i'll probably die of hypothermia or something if it gets any colder out here."

  • Crow smiled before laughing, "Probably would have been a smart idea to close the door when you got in," he said cranking the heater on. "Yeah I've always been more of a fan of the classics myself, 1969 Daytona Dodge Charger with a super charger V8 engine thing runs like a dream." Crow said smiling at his work, he was always a car guy taking after his father as a grease monkey and a mechanic. Soon enough they were on the road pulling out of the drive way a sharp bump jolted the car as they hit the main road.

  • [fancypost borderwidth=0; width: 375px; text-align: center; font-family: georgia; font-size: 8pt; opacity: 0.95; letter-spacing: 1px]♕♕

roman was genuinely impressed, and it showed in her expression. she couldn't have told you a thing about cars save for what she needed to know in order to function one. his knowledge wasn't why she was impressed, though. what she liked was that momentary flare of passion as he talked about it. he really knew his stuff, and it appeared to come with mindless ease to his lips.

"sounds like you know more than just your music, huh?" he had a flawless singing voice, that much she could not deny. he sang with the voice of a pop-punk angel, but she had never seen him as anything more than the lead singer of her brother's band. to her, he had always been distant and untouchable, just as he was to his millions of fans.

as the car began to warm up, she settled back in her seat. she hugged her arms to her chest, staring at the darkened windshield before her.

  • "I can thank my dad for that long before I was lead singer, I was just a little dweeb in overalls covered in grease helping my dad at his mechanics shop," he said with a smile. "Besides I'd rather buy all the parts and build a car than get scammed by crappy auto dealers." Crow glanced at the dash grabbing one of three photos. A photo that was a bit crinkled with age that showed 4 young teenage boys in a garage in front of a drum set. "Man this photo takes me back, can't believe it's been so long."

  • [fancypost borderwidth=0; width: 375px; text-align: center; font-family: georgia; font-size: 8pt; opacity: 0.95; letter-spacing: 1px]♕♕

when roman saw the photograph held in crow's hand, she found herself leaning in close for a better look. she squinted her eyes against the viscid darkness, but when they became adjusted, she felt her heart melt at the nescient faces on the photograph.

it was a picture of her brother, crow, derek, and landon in what appeared to be some sort of a garage. the picture must have been taken years ago, for she hardly recognized her brother at first glance. back then, he still wore thick, square framed glasses that he had only recently traded in for contacts.

in a sudden moment of introspective curiosity, she couldn't help but wonder where the boys would have been had they not made it big; if they would have been happier, or just as content, if eden's plight had never taken off, and they were left to their own devices.

"do you ever just... miss that?" the words left her mouth before she could stop them, and, before she knew it, she was hastening to explain her question. "i- i mean, back when things were simple; before the parties and fans and crazy work schedule?"

  • Crow laughed a bit from the question, " I don't know about the others but I sure as h*ll do, I just wanted to play music for the h*ll of it play locally never really thought we'd make it big. Ryan adores the spotlight that the groups in but I would have been happy either way." Pulling into a big lot there was a two story house that settled down by a massive garage, the house had fresh paint but the metal walls on the garage should it's age with rusty spots.

  • [fancypost borderwidth=0; width: 375px; text-align: center; font-family: georgia; font-size: 8pt; opacity: 0.95; letter-spacing: 1px]♕♕

be it that roman had become accustomed to the fortune that came with her brother's fame, or that she had simply assumed that all of the band members lived as splendidly as herself and her brother, roman found herself baffled by that sight of crow's house.

this was where he lived? where were the flashing lights, the marble pillars? it was an adequate home, but it was nothing like the prodigous mansion her brother owned. it was dark; even from where she sat inside the car, she had a sense of the noiselessness of the structure.

"so this is where you live?" momentarily pushing their prior conversation to the side, she leaned forward in her seat, squinting against the darkness for a better look. "i've only ever been to landon's place, and ryan was right beside me the whole time. this is the first time i've been to one of ryan's friends' places without him breathing down my neck."

ryan couldn't help being overprotective, and she knew that. after what happened to their parents, it was only natural that he take his duty as her guardian to heart... but he sometimes took things a little far.

  • Crow smiled slightly stepping out of the car,"If I learned anything through life on my own is that you shouldn't go Willy nilly burning all the cash you have on pointless things, it looks better on the inside." To alot of people except his fans Crow lived a very simple life not needing alot of anything just the bare necessities to get by in life and his career.

  • [fancypost borderwidth=0; width: 375px; text-align: center; font-family: georgia; font-size: 8pt; opacity: 0.95; letter-spacing: 1px]♕♕

roman couldn't help the intrigue she felt towards crow's words. what he said was true, that spending money on pointless things could ultimately do more harm than it could good. but when they made as much money as they did... well, financial matters were the least of their concerns.

nevertheless, she understood where he coming from. after all, before the band struck gold with their second album, they hadn't exactly been the richest people around. every time they went to the store, it was all "budgeting" and "coupons" for them.

"i didn't say it wasn't nice on the outside," she defended herself, a half-smile twitching across her lips as she unbuckled and stepped out of the car. "it's just... not what i expected." she waited for crow, then started towards the front door.

"actually, it looks a lot like the house ryan and i used to live in with our parents. huge garage, and all." a house that was now littered with bullet holes and old crime scene tape. nobody dared purchase her old house for fear that the people who her father owed money to might have returned. roman knew they wouldn't. they had finished their business, and left her and ryan orphans.

  • "Same one in fact, no one wanted it, figured it could use some love so I purchased it when I moved out, thought it would be a shame to just let the state tear it down." Crow opened the door to the house flipping on a switch. Instead of regular lights there were Christmas lights strung across the walls that lit up the room giving off an oddly peaceful feeling. Crow smiled as the lights came to life lighting up the room. "It surprisingly costs less money plus to me it's so much more peaceful and lively."

  • [fancypost borderwidth=0; width: 375px; line-height: 14px; text-align: center; font-family: georgia; font-size: 8pt; opacity: 0.90; letter-spacing: 1px]♕♕
at crow's words, roman stopped dead in her tracks. her eyes grew wide as shock overwhelmed her every function.

after several elongated moments of fumbling over her own tongue for something to say, she finally managed to squeak out,"this is the place?" oh, god. so long. it had been so long since she had last seen it that she hadn't even recognized the surrounding neighborhood. she should have realized, should have known where she saw.

this isn't that place anymore, rome. look around. it's peaceful. crow's fixed the place up. even so, her steps grew warier as she stepped through the barrier of the doorway, closing the door behind her. almost as soon as the door was closed, a front of warm air washed around her body. she breathed a sigh of relief as she wandered forward, making a visual sweep of her surroundings.

  • "Yeah it probably looks different than you remember, when I bought it off the guy the place was in shambles and cobwebs everywhere in here, at least he was nice enough to leave me a couch." Crow examined her as she wandered around taking in the surroundings, he ploped down on the couch turning on an Xbox, even if he had responsibility's, the man loved his games. "You'll know when you find the spare room, I'm sure you know your way around this place."
