Top floor. That means we're not on the same floor as the exit. How many floors are there? he wondered, tapping it out as well. Are there stairs, elevators, or both? How many possible routes are there linking this hallway to the exit? he asked. Can you tell if there are any rooms containing weapons or-? He was cut off by the opening of the door; it was time to return to their rooms.
Once he was alone and strapped tightly to his bed, Ethan thought deeply. It was all he could do, and he needed to get his mind off the discomfort and pain of being in contact with a physical object. There was one thing that he had managed to hide, and he figured now was the best time to contemplate. Is Verity really my ally? he asked himself. This question had presented itself the first time he met her, but he quickly dismissed it. The fact that she was being tortured as well dissolved that theory. But now that she had powers, he had to be cautious. She already knows too much about me; she was clearly upset by my thoughts earlier. But what if she's an actor? Or an unwilling spy?

Unfortunately, there was nothing he could discern from the information he currently possessed. All he could do was wait and hope that his plans wouldn't explode in his face.

And, when Ethan's not in his body, how do Verity's powers work on him?
(And, erm, morning skip?)
