Jude smiled at her again before heading up the stone stairs after his sister. Of course, he had glanced at Ella once or twice, as if he didn't want to leave yet. Amarie protested highly when Jude handed her the shoes he had originally borrowed for Ella, saying she didn't need them since she had walked here without them anyway. They were 'quietly' arguing about it on the way back, Jude being the worried older brother and Amarie being the non-caring little sister.
Ella watched them go, her eyes soft and caring. She really did like him... The mermaid quietly swam off, the woman elated.

Normally, Jude would be elated his mother was home, but tonight he thought of Ella. He hadn't wanted to leave her alone like that, but he couldn't have explained her to his mother. Jude made dinner in silence while Amarie talked with their mother.
Ella returned to the cove the next day, waiting eagerly for the human. She really enjoyed seeing him, her fingers tapping against her tail as she rested on the shore.

Jude was about ten minuets later than he had been the day before, but he came none-the-less. He came running down the stone stairs, "hi, Ella! Sorry I'm late!" He panted as he slowed down as he got closer to the water. He looked odd today. His hair seemed to be smoothed back and his shirt was a long-sleeved plain black, as were his pants and shoes, "erm... I didn't get time to change." He said awkwardly.
Ella lifted her head, giving a faint smile before tilting her head, "Why are you dressed like that?" She asked, curious about his appearance, "Is something bad that happened? Or wass it good?" She tilted her head at the man, studying him before meeting his eyes and studying them. She seemed to be able to read his thoughts some days, and right now she was studying him to see what could be the reason for his attire.

He looked rushed, but there was a bit of something else there, "I had to meet with some sailors about my next fishing trip. My mom seems obsessed with me being a fisherman like my dad." Jude said and sat on the sand with a huff, taking off the shoes he had been wearing. Even to a mermaid, they would look a bit uncomfortable, "what was awful about it was I almost had a run-in with the LAST crew of fishermen I went on a boat with... I think we both know how that exchange would have gone." Jude said. That was the reason for the odd look in his eyes.
Ella listened to him, frowning a bit at the information, "Doesn't she know that you... YOu don't wantto be a fisherman? Even I can tell you'd rather do something else with your life." Her eyes were soft, her tail flipping on the water and relaxing quietly against the sand, "I'm glad you didn't deal with them... It'd be awful if you did." She shifted closer, remaining in the water, and smiling weakly at him, "You still seem like something else is wrong, though..."

"Amarie had an issue with the sailors since I told her all of what happened. One had knocked her into the water after she insulted them... A lot." Jude said, "if not for my mother, she might have drowned. She's alright though." Jude said with a sort of relieved smile. Honestly, Jude wanted to be a marine biologist. Fish fascinated him, but he had to learn to swim first.
Ella's eyes widened at the words, the mermaid's face becoming angered, "How dare they!" She said, her eyes darkening, "If I find their ship again..." The water was lapping hungrily around her now, the woman looking away, "If she had died...." Trailing off, Ella took in a deep breath, her fists clentched now, "They didn't harm you, did they?"

"I don't think they saw me." Jude said, moving closer to the water to comfort her, "but my mother avenged Amarie just fine. In fact, she knocked one into the water after fishing Amarie out." He said, trying to qwell Ella's anger. Jude didn't want to see Ella upset over a mess he started, but after meeting Ella, he was so happy he had fallen off that boat and met her.
The mermaid looked down, breathing out and nodding a bit, "Okay..." She murmured, sighing and staring towards the sea, "I wish I could spend more time with you."

"I do too... Though, in another year I'll graduate highschool, so I can spend Kremlin time with you before I go to college." Jude said. Jude actually planned to go to college locally so he could explore some of the coral reefs around Floridia and work at the local marine labs. Amarie planned to travel the world while Jude hoped to remain local.
Ella smiled a little bit, "That'd be nice.... Though, I don't ask you to stay and spend your entire life with me. I don't want to create problems."

"Ella, your not a problem, nor haven you caused any so far." Jude said, gently reaching over to her and setting his hand on her shoulder as gently as he could, "so far, you've given me somebody to talk too and fufillex Amarie's long-time dream of meeting a mermaid. I doubt you've caused problems that I haven't brought on myself." He said.
Ella's heavy heart faded away, the female nuzzling against him faintly and closing her eyes, "I hope I won't bring any problems to you..." She whispered softly, "Thank you."

"Ella, I don't want you to think you'll ever be a burden to me or Amarie." He said with a gentle smile, "your a sort of light in the darkness." He said. Jude considered Ella to be a sort of light that he couldn't find anywhere else, a little bit of cheerful in a crowd of negativity.
The words made Ella smile, the woman shifting. She had made herself a sort of skirt with kelp, changing to have legs, and crawled to sit beside him, "You're a light in the dark for me." She informed gently, "Really, you are."

"I'm glad we can find something to agree on, even if it is different ways to look at it." Jude said, happy she came to sit with him. Jude couldn't find a better way to spend this afternoon after such an... 'interesting' day. Luckily, his mother decided she didn't need her daughter going to the docks for a while, or her son for that matter.
