This was perfect. Winter spent almost all day working on this: collecting some berries, catching a wild rabbit, setting up the small table, skinning and roasting the rabbit on a fire; that was messy work. She had conjured almost everything she needed for this occasion and even spread out rose petals, making a little pathway so she wouldnt forget where this was. She looked around, the blooming orchard was amazing, the clearing she found was tucked away in the center of it all. No one would find this place, it would be like their own secret garden.

"There we go!" She set the plate in the center of the table and fussing with the berries that refused to stay in one place. She was bursting with excitement and giddiness. She hoped this would be a nice surprise.

She felt like she was forgetting something. She had the food, the table, the sweet smelling rose petals... she turned, suddenly getting a strange smell the stood out from the roses. It was a few moments later when she realized that the smell was coming from her, from the rabbit she had prepared. Sighing, she quickly conjured a basin filled with water and dipped her paws in to get rid of the smell. She hoped as she went down the rose petal path, the scent would rub off on her paws and she'd smell like roses instead of uncooked meat.

She looked up, the sun beginning to slowly sink behind the horizon. After carefully inspecting every aspect of the scene, Winter flashed a satisfied smiled and bounded off to find Malachite.[/glow]

IC: It wouldn't be hard to find him. Although his injuries had healed, he didn't go places very often, so there were only a few places one would look to find him: near Sam's house, with Sam, at his house, or with Winter. Currently he lay on his porch, blind optics staring blankly ahead. It was quite sad, actually, when he was like that. Because he still hadn't really moved on from Shift's death. It was at times like these that those close to him could tell he was still upset. Well, upset wasn't really the right word… more like 'distant' or even 'sad.' But really, he was pretty much in a permanent state of melancholy. He kept waiting for the next blow to fall, for another person he cared about to die. He'd lost Sam once, but she'd come back. But that couldn't last forever. And Winter… bloody hell, if he lost her… he would have lost one of the only people left that he truly cared about, loved. And if Sammy died again… well, he'd have nothing left, really, if Hus girlfriend and adoptive sister died. So he would either be thrown into limbo or die. Not too nice, but entirely true. It was sad, really, when you looked at his life before he'd been tortured the first time. Such a happy, naive, puppy. Then a stuttering, naive, puppy. Now? A grief stricken, blind, stuttering, underweight, pathetic wolf. He couldn't even fight. Some life.

Winter's scent caught his attention, along with the event of roses tinged with meat. He lifted his head, turning his blind gaze in her direction before pushing himself to his paws slowly, forcing his ears up. Everything he did now was slow, and he usually took small steps now, with a more pronounced limp to them. Oh, the joys of suffering from the same wound twice. But he took a couple steps forward, then stopped to wait for her to reach him before aiming to press his scrawny body against her side quietly.

[glow=blue,2,300]She finally reached his house, excitement building up within her and threatening to bubble over and out of her. She hoped this would make him happy, he just didnt seem like himself. Depressed mostly. She knew it was because of Shift. That loss had been very tough on him. His adopted mother, the one who took him in and cared for him… and the scare with Sam, that was also pretty hard; also nearly gave Winter a heart attack. So she could only imagine what he was going through at the moment.

As she came up to his house, she hesitated. She took in the still-healing wounds and tried to think about how far the orchard's clearing was from here. She knew it was close but she was doubting her definition of "close". Her mind began racing as to what could happen what shouldnt happen… Clearing all the ridiculous doubts away with a single breath, she walked up to him and let him lean into her side.

"Hi Mal," she said quietly with a sweet smile, calm and at peace with him by her side. "I-I've got a surprise for you, would you like to come s– join me?" She was beginning to try and dance around phrases like that more often, unsure of his reaction if she were to use them.

She gently nuzzled him and closed her eyes, taking in the familiar scent she vowed to never forget while at the same time trying to comfort her boyfriend as best she could.
