It was a fine day outside. It seemed that spring had finally sprung, with trees beginning to leaf out and flowers beginning to sprout. And it wasn't just the plant life; prey animals were beginning to emerge from their hibernation, and birds were migrating back to the now sunbathed area. Amidst the chirps of songbirds and rustling of new leaves, a small feline could be found, padding quietly across the forest floor.

Beverly's eyes were fixed intently on a mouse several feet in front of her. Hunting had always been a subject of interest to her; her mom had taught her the basics, but she never had a chance to catch anything for herself. Instead, she ate whatever scraps or berries she could find. Even though she was fine with the diet, the girl was determined to have a successful hunt some day. She just had to! And now that she was a member of a clan, it meant she had to double her efforts. Hunting was very important in clan life, after all. At least, that was what she had gathered. And usually she was right in her assumptions; she was very smart, after all.

Beverly had watched a few hunts by now, so she had been able to see how to stalk a mouse by now. Now she need only put these observations into use. Silently, she moved her paws across the forest floor, creeping closer to the rodent that was oblivious to her presence. Her timing was not perfect, however; leaping too early, the female landed with an 'umph' several inches away from her target, which swiftly scampered away with a high pitched squeal. Rising to a standing position, the kit frowned. "Dang," she sighed. What was she doing wrong? Surely there was something she could read that could help her. Or perhaps she could interview some people to find the solution.

    "That was a good attempt."
A voice spoke up from the branches above Beverly. It was Uzu and he was currently relaxing in the trees whilst munching down on an apple. The Officer flashed a merry grin before he worked his way down to the ground and landed next to her.

Tossing the core of the apple away over his shoulder he then knelt down and curled his long tail around himself.
"Though it looks like you could benefit from a mentor to help refine your technique."
He added, he personally believed strongly in the whole mentor-apprentice connection.
