Chapter One: Sketchy Hospital Workers and Dr. Who?

"I'm sorry Mr. Romano but you are the only survivor."

The hospital was quiet other than the constant beep of my heart beat. I stared blankly at the doctor, my hazel eyes unfocused. Thoughts swirled in my head as i slowly sat up to look at the doctor once more.

"I was alone."

Now it was the doctors turn to stare, his hardened jaw grinding back and forth. He pressed a button nestled next to the entrance and sat down across from me. Now he looked sad with blonde eyebrows furrowed together in sympathy. I shifted under his gaze and looked down at the stark white tiles. Why was he acting so strange? I was alone the night of the car accident and i remembered everything. I wasn't drunk and i had left hockey practice completely sober.

The man across from me cleared his throat causing me to look up. He looked suspicious now, tapping his foot against the floor. Strangely i couldn't remember the doctors name and no tag was pinned against his coat. I studied his dimpled face and sky blue eyes, hoping for a connection.

"Lucca Romano. There were three other passengers within your Lamborghini. Please do not argue with me."

I opened my mouth to respond anyway but he shushed me with the raise of a finger. Now i was starting to get suspicious. I didn't own a Lamborghini. One would be nice but i was working off a waiters wage. No way would i have bought a Lamborghini. Suddenly a young nurse burst through the door, a large file gripped between her fingers. She raised an eyebrow as she saw my shirtless figure lying on the bed. With a flirty wink she dropped the files on my lap. I scowled at her. "Excuse me hun but your a little out of my league."

The nurses face paled as she looked at the doctor before us. "I-I I'm sorry Mr. Romano. If y-you will excuse me Dr.." I chuckled at her retreating form, hoping she would trip. Sadly she didn't. A low clearing of the throat came from the right as the Doctor brought me back to the topic at hand. To be honest he looked kinda scared.

"Mr. Romano.."

I cut him off with the wave of a hand. "Call me Lucca. Like Luke-uh. It's Italian. Mr. Romano makes me sound old. I'm nineteen." The doctor sighed at my interruption and proceeded to pull out three pictures. I immediately shut up. The first was a picture of a women. She was strikingly beautiful with a strong jaw, full lips, light gray eyes and long russet colored hair. Strangely when killed she had been dressed in a voluminous black dress that took up most of her side of the car.

"This is Marquesa DeLuca, a high end Italian Actress. Five years ago she disappeared after she left her husband at the alter. Why you were riding with her is questionable by law. Though somehow police say that she saved you from dying in the car crash along with another man in that car. But the bigger mystery was why the man she left at the alter was in the backseat."

The doctor beside me whipped out a second photo of a well chiseled man. The man had jaw length dirty blonde hair that he fashionably tucked behind his ears. His steel blue eyes were piercing but warm, accompanied by multiple smile lines. The man looked to be in his fifties and was dressed in a rich blue suit.

"Dante Bianchi, another high end movie star in Italy. After his to be wife left him, Bianchi stayed in Italy for quite some time. Two weeks ago Dante Bianchi disappeared off the set of a new movie. The crew looked for him everywhere and concluded he had vanished. Now its bad that you showed up with Miss DeLuca but Bianchi went missing too? Do you know what you have gotten yourself into boy?!" The doctor stood up, papers littering the ground like leaves on a fall day. He looked bewildered, insane even. His blue eyes were trained on me with a scared look causing me to scoot to the far edge of my hospital bed.

What was happening to me? People normally didn't fear me. My friends told me i had this charm others couldn't resist. Now the tables have turned and i'm holding on to every single word muttered by a doctor whose name i don't even know. I rubbed my hands across my side, tracing the prominent scar. Ever since i was a child i was comforted by this scar even though no one knows where it came from. Supposedly my father lost me on the playground and an hour later found me bleeding on the wood chips, the fresh wound ripped open across my side. I wished to see my parents up in Duluth but I would have to finish the hockey season for any free time.

The doctors breathing slowly stilled before he finally sat down in the chair. He was mad, fumes rolling off in waves. He picked up one last picture from the paper strewn floor and with a sigh he handed it to me. As my fingers wrapped around the glossy finish my heart beat began to rise to an unnatural rate.

"Kip?"

I gripped the photo with such ferocity the edges began to tear. My hands began to slowly shake as i pulled the photograph closer to my face. I studied the picture of the boy before me, hoping it wasn't him. Bleach blonde hair tousled to its usual perfection. Liquid blue eyes that melted anyone's heart. Tall and skinny frame, often accompanied in his own witty jokes. Tears stung my eyes as i took in the picture of my best friend.

"Oh Kipling man.."

I took a deep breath and scowled at the man before me. "Can i have the papers? I'd like to look through them. Oh and you can leave now." My hazel eyes followed the mans retreating form with hatred. Why did he think he could just walk on in and ruin my life? Kip lived in Canada. There was no way he could have died. This was all a hoax!!

I threw myself to the floor and frantically searched through the mess of papers. Most were legal records deciding my fate but i skimmed past those in search of Kip's file. In the corner of my mind i slowly tallied the increase of how pathetic i was. Kip was my best friend but i hadn't seen him in over five years. We conversed every so often on the phone but that was about it. Suddenly my fingers landed on Kip's records and my eyes quickly skimmed the page.

"died wearing all white."

"protected Lucca from dying."

"old fashioned mirror found in pocket."

"random addresses on a piece of paper."

I stopped, my finger pressing down on the page.
