Wasn't House-Hunters a television show? He thought the idea of hunting for the perfect house seemed kind of stupid, until he was forced to do it himself. He was kind of tired of falling asleep sitting up. He wanted something he could close and lock.

Of course, he'd had an idea that he would live with Kaden. It was all written down on some torn up notepad lost in some remote area of forest: his plan. His perfect plan for the rest of their lives. He didn't want anything to be torn apart or broken up - not when he needed Kaden this much.

The boy had looked in all sorts of houses, and had already stuffed his jean pockets full of goodies and stuff he'd stolen. His long hair flopped in his eyes, which was getting annoying. He needed to cut it soon. Besides that, he hadn't seen anything that he'd liked. One house had this staircase that was all creaky, which made him nervous. Another one had this ugly as hell wallpaper in the living room, and all the appliances in the kitchen were out of date. Then there was one he'd just stubbed his toe on the door frame, and called an automatic "motherfreaking no."

Then he found this odd, pale ocean blue stucco house. It didn't have much of a porch, but it had stairs leading to the door. Inside was a nice-sized kitchen, and a decent staircase. There was a vaulted ceiling with a railing protecting the walkway of the second floor. He guessed there to be...two rooms upstairs, if he was lucky. (Which he was.)

"Hey, Kaden! I found one!" He yelled down the road, startling a group of birds off the roof.

  • [fancypost borderwidth=0px;][justify]Kaden had always dreamt of this. A nice home with his brother - somewhere that they could stay longer than a week. What with all their travelling, they'd never had a nice place to stay. Not for long, anyway. So when they come upon this colourful city filled with houses and new opportunities, of course Kaden wanted to find some nice place where they could stay.

Honestly, he'd thought about this for a long time. Dreamed of it, even. The fourteen year old had been house hunting as well; perhaps not as much as Andrew had, putting less effort into it. It was a bit embarrassing when he'd almost walked into two already occupied houses, but after that, he'd made sure to check before he went ahead and walked inside the houses.

Unfortunately for him, he was out of luck in the house hunting business. Every place was either too big, too small, not in the right location or just plain bad - he'd come across rotten stairwells and mouldy floorboards, even a rat problem, as the pesky critters ate at the inside of the walls and scratched mercilessly. That was definitely a no no.

So when he heard the call of Andrew, that he'd finally found a decent house to stay in, Kaden was more than excited. And Andrew was right. It was perfect. Grinning wildly, Kaden went to explore the place, eyes wide with excitement.

We got bedrooms upstairs and a bathroom, but the first floor is mostly just living room and kitchen." Andrew explained, sitting on the couch.

Running a hand through his hair, he looked at his knuckles. "I've been thinking about getting a buzz cut. What to you think?" He asked, frowning. He crossed his eyes, trying to look at the bangs that flopped in his face.

(sORrY i was falling asleep writing this)

  • [fancypost borderwidth=0px; width: 400px; font-family: arial;][justify]"As long as I don't have to share a room with you or rats, I'm happy." Replied Kaden, and he honestly was. They were sharing a house together, and though he loved his brother it wasn't as if they were very similar. He doubted their idea of good interior design would be the same. He was looking forward to decorating his room.

Kaden grinned at his brother. "Buzz cut? Go ahead, I think it'll look great." He flashed Andrew the pearly whites before running up the stairs. "I call the biggest room!" he threw over his shoulder.

  • [fancypost bgcolor=; border: 0px solid white; width: 440px; text-align: justify; height: auto; font-size: 8pt; line-height: 137%; margin-top: -5px;]Andrew nodded, hopping up from his position on the couch. So long as he wasn't sleeping where cockroaches and other nasties could crawl over him, he would sleep anywhere. Also, so long as he didn't have to sleep next to his snoring brother. God, sometimes he sounded like a freaking train. And he should know - they spent several nights by train tracks.

"Yeah - my hair's been getting on my nerves. I look like freaking Justin Bieber when he was thirteen." He complained, trying to pull a piece of his bangs in front of his face so he could look at it. He basically just ended up cross-eyed.

As Kaden called dibs, Andrew went wide-eyed. "No way!" He challenged, practically leaping over the couch and flying up the staircase after his brother. He bolted into the first room, which...surprisingly, was kind of small. It had a bed crammed in a corner, a bookshelf in another, and a small desk underneath a window. "Dibs!" The boy called out, flopping onto the bed. Ha, it had a freaking bookshelf! He could stuff all his weird sci-fi and mystery novels in there.
