  • PLOT:
The kingdom has been at war for 15 years now, and the prince has just come of age where his father, the king, will allow him to go lead the fight. However, he fears losing his one and only heir, so he has tasked his soldiers to bring a coming of age gift down from the mountains where the fighting is going to be. Something that will ultimately lead to their kingdom's victory.
A dragon, strong enough to carry a rider into battle.
Karmin is the only dragon who lives her life out in those mountains, after having been exiled from the hunting grounds on the other side. She is a quiet she-dragon who does not like to harm humans, but does not think that they would try to harm her in any way. However, once captured, she is brought to the courtyard of the palace to be presented as his son's present and she could not be any angrier.

    Karmin (with rider):

    IC -
The king called for his son the prince, bent over a map of his kingdom as he surveyed where they could make their next attack on their enemies. Meanwhile, he could hear the commotion outside as his soldiers tried to keep the dragon restrained. He drew the curtains which blocked the balcony from view. From there, he could see the entire courtyard, and taking up a large part of the space was a red and black dragon. He had not expected it to be so easy to catch one, but had been informed that this dragon had been malnurished and easily bribed to come out of her cave with food. She just needed a bit of plumping up, but then she would be a wonderful fighter and guardian for his son.

  • Xzavior had came down quickly when he heard the summons. Probably just to hear some more lectures on battle strategy and what must he do to show the troops he is the commander and that they should follow him without question and all that. Yea yea, he's heard it a thousand times before and it was starting to get rather boring. But when he finally got there he saw his father head to the window. Perhaps this would be something a little more interesting. And indeed it was when he saw the dragon there. "What is that and why is it like that?" He hadn't really seen a dragon before other then paintings and such but sometimes these things were over exaggerated.

  • "That, Xzavior, is a dragon," his father stated, puffing out his chest proudly. He watched as the dragon reared it's neck away from the soldier trying to bridle it and chain it to the ground. Her tail had already been held down, making her resistance a bit more challenging. "As wild as one can be, but obviously not at full strength," the king told him. "It is my gift to you. A coming of age present that will keep you safe on the battlefield."

  • He stared wide eyed at the dragon but looked over at the king when he told him the reason as to why it was here. "Dad, I don't need protection. I can handle myself." He wasn't too sure how to think about seeing such an amazing thing be trapped like that, so without a moment's hesitation he made his way down to the court yard and went to stand before the dragon and observed her curiously.

  • By the time that Xzarior had made his way down to the court yard, the she-dragon was billowing smoke from her nostrils. It rose up into the air in great plumes. It was a threat, but no one seemed to be paying much attention to it. She didn't want to hurt the small humans - she knew that they were only doing as they were ordered to most likely. She knew that castles ran on strict rules.
Finally the soldier was able to grab a hold of her horns and swung the bridle onto her head. There was a great cheer from the group.

  • He didn't join in the cheering when the brindle was over her head. He had an even look about him and noted the lack of force behind the threat given to them for imprisoning her like they had. He felt poorly for the act itself. She seemed intelligent enough to not attack them out right when they went after her or even forced her to the way she was. So perhaps she wasn't as wild as his father stated, "Can you speak common?" He went through a few other languages as well to find out the one she knew best. Calmly all the while

  • The she dragon responded to all of them, her head turning to look at him slightly and then away again with every language he tried. They all had the same root dialect. They all were from long lost languages that only dragons could remember. But she refused to speak with everything that was going on. She finally snarled at the soldier that tried to muzzle her, getting the fire in her mouth to a temperature too hot for a human to willingly stand beside.

  • Xzavior even raised his hand to stop the soldier from trying when he saw her at least acknowledge the questions of languages. She really was more intelligent than any of them thought. Now he really felt terrible about her being stuck like this. "My name is Xzavior Sioc. Have you a name for yourself?" Whether she responded to that or not he went on with his next question, "If I remove the restraints holding you down will you keep from attacking us?" He didn't know if she was just waiting for a perfect time to attack or if she really was just docile. Though if she did agree he would more then likely keep the restraints keeping her from flying off. He was still very curious about this dragon.

  • The she-dragon stared directly at the prince now, cooling the heat she was emitting. She had no desire to respond to this human, as she had good reason to understand that he could even have been the one to order for her capture. She attempted to appear strong, pushing off the ground in order to pull the chains out of their ground posts, but what was seen gave a very different impression. She was malnourished and weak, some of her scales showed the dips in her ribcage as bone alternated with space.

  • Xzavior frowned, not when she didn't refuse to respond but when she struggled against those restraints and gave him a perfect view of how bad of a shape she was really in. Well he couldn't just leave her like this, "Bring it some of the livestock. Cows or any other larger beasts. As much as they requires." He really didn't care if any of them would complain. At this point he thought her sentient enough to be considered smarter than just an average beast.

  • The she-dragon huffed, looking away. She felt foolish, having to rely on... on charity! But the truth of the matter was exactly as he saw it. There was little to eat in the mountains, maybe some goats and other similarly sized creatures. She couldn't eat too much - the population had to keep growing and shrinking after all. Too bad she had be exiled from the good hunting grounds on the other side of those cliffs.

  • When the soldiers brought out the beasts and such he smirked a bit when they all tried to back away from her fearing that she might try to take them along with her offered meal. "You know you're going to have to remove the brindle if she is going to eat properly." He watched in amusement as the soldiers carefully made their way over to her and cautiously remove the chains and such.

  • As the bridle was removed from her, Karmin looked around at the assortment of food that had been brought to her. She then was surprised to feel the chains unpegged from the ground, starting at her tail and moving their way up to her torso. When she felt like she could finally stand, she swished her tail around, making the soldiers move quickly to the side. Then she slammed a clawed foot down on her first bit of food, killing it instantly so she could begin tearing the meat off of it. The rest of her food was scattering as far away from her as possible.

  • He noted her mercy to end the beast quickly instead of doing anything aggressive and whatnot. None of her food was going to get away from her other then the size of the court yard. All the entrances were blocked off after they were brought in. And to protect any curious citizens from a potentially aggressive dragon. He waited patiently for her to finish off her meal before asking, "Feeling better?"

  • She gave a low rumble, which brought the king finally out of the castle. "What in the blazes!" he exclaimed and the soldiers jumped. They had been watching the dragon eat, a few being a bit sick to their stomaches. "Get that thing tied down! It will be the death of us!" he yelled and the soldiers moved. The she-dragon picked herself up, roaring at the king and the soldier, snarling. "What ran through your heads to do a stupid thing like that? First, tame it! Then keep it on a short leash! We are at war people, not at a petting zoo.

  • And then his father came out... when he heard the dragons roar he turned to the direction of who it was meant for and quickly went over to intercept. "Father, calm down. As far as I can tell it isn't that big of a threat. It understands speech and I'm pretty sure without those restraints it had more than enough opportunities to end our lives. Weak state or not when you corner a wolf they fight back." He really didn't want to see her get locked up again. Even now she was showing a bit of mercy that he couldn't ignore.

  • Had she been able to, the dragon would have spread her wings to appear more menacing. But the restraints still held her wings closed and at her sides and she could not snap the chains. She let out a plume of flame towards the sky, getting irritable, but she still controlled her temper.
"It's a wild beast," the king reminded his son.

  • He motioned towards her with a hand, "See? Could have easily turned us to ash. Let it be and I will take care of anything if this is to be my coming of age gift." He hoped that the king would accept this and just let them be so he could try to better understand the dragon and her ways.

  • The king looked from his son to the dragon and back again. "You must remember, you are my only living heir," he told Xzavior, "Do not get cocky, or you will get killed." the king slowly left, worried but he also needed to worry about other things.
The dragon snarled at the soldiers and they backed away again for her.

  • He ignored the comment about being cock but when the king finally walked off he sighed happily and turned back to the dragon, "Will you talk to me now? I just got you out of being restrained again so that must prove something doesn't it?"
