[align=center][font=georgia][size=8][color=black]I was thinking maybe Sabine could be in wolf form when the two meet, OR be with other members of her pack so she won't want to talk to Catalina (pretty name by the way!).

I like the plan of Sabine being in wolf form when she meets Catalina. (Thanks, I like Sabine, too!)
  • Cool! Perhaps Sabine is out scouting when they meet, and since Catalina has been searching for her soulmate perhaps a spell leads her to the area or maybe she is just gathering herbs for potions.

"Disgraceful..." I muttered, throwing down the small flower I had in my hands down. The small plant was scarce, and the one I had stumbled upon was wilting. I grumbled some vile comments under my breath. It was currently cold outside, and my mother expected me to gather a few ingredients for the next potion she was brewing. Probably something for soulmates. I almost felt bad for my mother, she was trying so hard to find me the one and she was having such trouble. By now I had given up. Don't get me wrong, the world in black and white was..well...Dull. But, in this world, how were you supposed to stumble across that person. I sighed in distaste while avoiding the mud that was around the forest.
"Go get some ingredients, honey...I'm too old to get them...Go get them before I cast a spell on you…" I mumbled in frustration as I stumbled, once again, on a wilted flower. My luck. I kicked a small pebble and shoved my way through the bushes and lower tree branches. My dark gray- at least, I think it's dark gray- hair was pulled back in a ponytail. The more I thought about my mother the more I wished to strangle her and all of her witchy-ness. I smirked slightly at the idea of casting a spell on her. Maybe when I met my soulmate, I could cast a spell on her that made everything black and white for her. Then she'd see things through my eyes. A smile grew on my face as I imagined the look of horror on her face once she realized she couldn't recognize the potions, or not be able to look at herself in the mirror. Mg mother was a very self-centered person, and I have to admit she was a beautiful woman. I believe I am the spitting image of my father, because I look nothing like my mother. As I crossed the swampy area my mother and I lived in, I noticed I was in the drier parts of the land. It would be easier to find what I'm looking for here. I squeezed through a patch of thorn bushes surrounded by thick trees. I winced as I felt myself being scraped and scratched by the thorns.
"You've been through worse, Cata..." I mumbled as I continued. Once I made it past the sharp thorns, I scanned my surroundings. Nothing but the occasional squirrel for small forest animal. I can continue. By now, my feet were hurting, but I pushed myself to keep going. There could be an entire patch of the flowers I'm looking for just ahead of me. I had to be careful around here. You never know what supernatural being you could meet up with. I knew vampires were the worst. I shivered as I imagined being faced against one of those bloodsuckers.
Werewolves were also scary. They could turn into a destructive animal anytime they wanted to, and one wolf was hard to beat, let alone an entire patrol. I yawned quietly, wishing I could just go back and say, Screw you mom, it's hard to find those flowers, I ha e scratches, and I'm tired, good night! then just flop onto my bed and fall asleep before she could argue.
    A witch's daughter can dream.

OOC: Cool! I'm primarily third person, but I can switch in my next post if you prefer it.

IC: Sabine had been in meetings all morning. There had been a fire on the west most part of the forest, and she and her Aunt Davina had been tasked with figuring out where to put the several families that had lost their homes. They had decided on only two of the three families' temporary placements, leaving the last- a pair of siblings in their teens in the custody of their mentors for the time being. Tomorrow meetings would likely resume to continue the debates, but until then Sabine wanted nothing more then to sleep. Even as she closed the door to her room her inner wolf pawed restlessly under the surface of her skin, begging to be released. Needless to say the wolf won out.

It was easy to find the latest patrol and convince them to let her take the routes this afternoon. Typically the wolves were sent in groups of three or more when they went out around the boundaries of the territory, but things had been quiet, and Sabine didn't see reason to pull someone else from their work to accompany her. So she made quick work of removing her shoes and jacket, leaving her in a pair of leggings and a long shirt and ready to shift. The more experienced a wolf was in shifting, the less destruction they caused to their clothing, but Sabine still liked to play it safe seeing as she had shredded far to many shoes shifting already. Once she was satisfied that her clothing would be safe when she returned to her two legged form, the tawny wolf darted off into the woods.

It wasn't until the end of her route that she noticed something unusual. Lilacs, spices, herbs. That wasn't the sent of a wolf, nor did seem distinctly human to Sabine. Her ears perked and swiveled, eyes scanning the forest around her for any sign of the intruder. This would be so much easier if I could see. Her tail lashed violently with her frustration, a soft grumble shaking her chest. After a moment she gave up looking and relied on her ears to guide her towards the source.

When she finally spotted the right grey form among the hundreds of others, Sabine crouched low to the ground and carefully maneuvered herself to block the easiest route towards the pack. Where did she come from? The wolf wondered curiously, knowing that the nearest road was a good mile off unless this woman had come from Sabine's own home, which she certainly hadn't. No matter. It's time for her to leave anyhow. With that she stood straight again and let out a low growl, dipping her head in a threatening manner as she slowly stepped out from behind the foliage towards the woman's turned back. Humans usually scrambled away at the first sight of a wolf, not knowing the difference between a feral beast and the sofisticated werewolf. In reality there were typically three signs differentiating between them. First, was the packmark that appeared as a lightened cresent in both fur and skin of a pack member. Second, werewolves were typically a tad larger then normal wolves. Third, as strange as it sounds, the eyes of a werewolves held a certain intelligence that the average beast lacked.

Sabine imagined this woman would prove to be no different then those common tourists, scampering as quickly as she could, never to be seen again. She was certainly in for a shock.

//I'm fine with you roleplaying in third person, first person is just the point of view I eventually got in the habit of doing.

As I continued through the light to dark gray that was supposedly green, I heard the growl of either a wild wolf, or a werewolf. I spun around, soon seeing the wolf. I couldn't help but smile. I had memorized the distinctive features that separated a wolf from a werewolf. Of course, I could tell from the size. I often found it amusing that the common human couldn't tell the difference. It was quite pathetic, to be honest. This werewolf had obviously came from a nearby pack. That led me to wonder, how long have I been out here? It takes quite a long while to even reach near the closest pack from my off the grid home. Nonetheless, I crouched down to eye level with the wolf. Sure, it was a risk, since this thing could attack me, but I loved to dance with the devil. I grinned, the left tip of my lip proved to be more of a smirk. It would be easy to tease the rather believable excuse of a wolf.
"Believe it or not, you're not the big bad wolf to me." I said in a low whisper to the wolf, my Irish accent being a bit stronger, since I've been used to talking like my mother. I tapped the shifting human's nose before I stood up. I was rather short, so the larger form of a wolf reached a little below my knees. Sure, this was a disadvantage, but what can you do when you're twenty-five years old and you're five foot three? Nothing. Before I had the chance to notice, I saw a patch of my vision becoming colorful. It was enough to see the true color of this wolf's face. My jaw nearly dropped. How was I seeing color? No way was this my soulmate. Maybe there is another person around here? I turned my head around, and I did a full circle around. No one else but this werewolf and I. But, this wasn't fair! I wanted to meet a nice girl who knew sorcery as well, not some human who was part mutt! Besides, werewolves have strict laws. Only those with lycanthroby could become mates, or even a part of a pack. It was interesting how color was seen now. It was so... bright. This wolf's eyes were rather pretty, a nice feature of her. At least, I think it's a her.

OOC: Sweet, sometimes people are picky about that so I just wanted to make sure :) ---- EDIT: as I was writing I found myself switching to first, so I'll just go with it and see what happens ;)

Oh this girl was pushing it. As she bent down towards me, smirk lifting her lips, I resisted the urge to snap at her. A scared human was good, an injured one could bring problems back our way if they reported it. My growl became more a snarl as my lips lifted away from my teeth. Honestly I'm not sure what startled me the most, the woman's knowledge or her voice itself. I had always been a sucker for a nice accent. Focus, Reviré!

The final straw came when she bopped me on the nose. I lunged towards her only to dance towards the side at the last moment in shock. I jumped back a good few feet to ensure I had a bit of a safety distance before taking a good look around. What the h*ll? The monochromatic forest had turned into a bushel of what I could only assume to be greens. I honestly couldn't tell you what the speckled flowers or chirping birds looked like. I only knew the woods were green through conversations I had heard in my pack, and I had deduced what blue was after lifting my snout to the sky and taking in the soothing emptiness of the air above. Other then that, however, I had not a clue. After all, I had more important things to do then try to catagorize something I knew I would never get the chance to experience- or so I had thought.

That brought me back to the important part of this- how was happening? My eyes turned back to the woman in front of me once more as an answer came to me. Witch! I bowed my head again, preparing for the possibility of a fight, but resisting the urge to growl. Obviously this sorceress had done something to me already, though I would admit to being more then a little confused on her motives, I didn't want to make this worse for me. There are probably some sort of side effects I'll find out about.

It seems as I was exploring my newfound ability, the bright haired witch had been looking around as well. Absently I pondered whether or not the woman had bright hair at all, perhaps that lovely shade was normal. Focus! Right, I needed to decide what to do next. The hope of herding this supernatural away was small. Perhaps if I had surprised her, but I hardly thought loosing the rest of the Alpha bloodline would be appreciated by my pack even if it was in defense of our territory. No, I wouldn't stay to face this threat alone. I needed my packmates to ensure this went our way. So with my mind thoroughly made up, I started pawing backwards, away from the beautifully colored witch and back into the foliage. Once I was far enough into cover I could turn around and make a run for home, but I wasn't about to let her get the jump on me again.

//okay, that's fine! Sometimes I catch myself almost roleplaying in third person. I'll have to hit the hay after this post, so good night!

As I took in more of my surroundings, the color began to spread. The tops of trees were now green. The trunks of trees were brown. I could see how blue the sky was, and how bright the sun was. So this was the world in color, huh? It is..beautiful. Before I could take all of it in, the colors started to fade. My vision was less colorful, and I was disappointed. I looked over and saw the wolf getting away.
"No..No, no, no, no..." I muttered quietly. If she git away, my vision would go back. I couldn't let that happen. If this was who my soulmate was, I would have to accept it and pursue it. I had experience with pthese type of people. They're stubborn, at least, from my experience, I've never met a polite werewolf. I went through my pockets and looked through my assortment of herbs and other things. One thing I always bring with me is something called a Speed Pellet. It was made from lilacs, sugar, and a bunch of other magical things. It makes you go nearly, almost as fast as a werewolf. I clutched the small pellet in my hand in case I needed it. I was a fast runner, so I'm sure I'd be fine with or without it. Before I had time to think about my next move, I started running. I found that I was feeling quite slow, so I simply swallowed the small pill shaped object and I immediately felt a rush of energy as I swallowed it. I then started running.

As my back paws brushed past brambles of the foliage behind me, I felt my ears twitch in the direction of the witch once more. Why on earth is she upset? This witch was a puzzle indeed, and one I was eager to escape. As soon as I had enough protection in the brambles and twigs behind me, I bolted. It didn't take long for me to realize that the beautiful swirls and speckles of the forest were returning to plain greys and blacks. I may have whined when I noticed, but I'd never admit it.

My fur began to stand up when I picked up on the barely there hints of green in my grey world, and I immediately turned, eyes scanning for another sorceress. You could imagine my surprise when I picked up on the rapid crunching of leaves and twigs coming my way. The pattern of the sound was consistent with two feet, not four, and it was coming from the direction the witch had been. Squinting, I could even see that burst of gorgeous... Something... That formed her hair. At first I was confused- witches were supposed to have human capacity for physical attributes- but I reacted as soon as I was able, pushing my legs back into a sprint once more to get away from her.

I was only a mile or so away from home, the witch still racing after me, when a rather small something out a rather large hole in my plan. Over the rush of wind my heightened senses picked up on a bark- less than a bark really, more like a squeak. Instantly one word filled my mind. Pup. My head shot towards the sound, and after taking a quick moment to calculate my options, I turned and barreled towards the source. This witch had somehow managed to keep a fair pace with me this far, and had already proven her magical ability as well as knowledge of my kind. I had no idea what she wanted but it couldn't be anything good. I had, up until now, taken comfort in the fact that I knew how to get away, to fight if I needed. A pup on the other hand would be easy pickings for her kind. It was my responsibility to keep my people safe, and that was exactly what I would do.

The detour cost me most of my advantage speed wise, but truthfully the only thing I could focus on was finding the little bundle of meddlesome fur that had made that noise. Once again the wonder of color amazed me as I easily caught sight of the white fur that would have previously been near impossible to spot among my normal background of white, black, and grey. The pup wasn't one I was overly familiar with, but I recignized him as Marcel Howle, one of the last few kids to have changed this year. He must have wondered off while exploring his new form and gotten lost in the forest. As I recall he had yet to be assigned a mentor to keep an eye on him, so it wasn't all that surprising to find him out here.

I could tell by the now vibrant shades of what seemed like a hundred different colors that the witch was as close to me as she had been earlier- that is if the spell worked as I thought. The idea of this unknown power being so close to one of my pack's young drove me towards my instincts. I positioned myself beside Marcel, who was already whimpering from both the cold against his unweathered pup fur and now this strange woman. I kept my eyes locked on the witch even as I nudged the boy to a safe place between my paws. He was easily persuaded to listen as soon as he recignized me, and even lessened in his shaking as I allowed a small yip to respond to his whining coos. Once I was sure Marcel would do as I needed, I lowered myself into a defensive position above him. I tried to get as close to him as I could, hoping my body heat would help warm the pup a bit as I kept watch of the witch. With narrowed eyes and a fierce lashing of my tail I barred my fangs at the witch, declaring in everything but words themselves that she wasn't to get any closer if she wanted to leave in the state she arrived in.

//oh noooo not her weakness XD HE'S TOO POWERFUL! Marcel why you do this?

I slowed down once I realized she was in position to attack me. Once again, my vision grew colorful, and it still came off as a little bit of shock. I stopped myself from running into her, and then put my hands up. Then, I noticed she a bundle of fur beneath her. My eyes widened in amazement. That was a werewolf pup! Then, this adult werewolf was protecting him. She thinks I cast a spell on her. She thinks that I want to harm her.
"Hey, I'm not going to hurt you or your pup. If you think I cast a spell on you, you're wrong. You obviously don't know much on witches." I said, mumbling the last part. I took my bag off my shoulder, and softly put it on the ground, then took three steps sideways, then stopped.
"If I did cast a spell on you, you would have had to either eat something, I would say something, or I would splash a potion." I explained to her, as if she were a child. I allowed my hands to fall to my side in a more relaxed position. I knew where her weakspots were, since my mother taught me self defense, I could easily fight her if I needed to. For now, I wanted to avoid hurting her.

Leave it to me to get stuck with not only a witch, but a condescending witch. I mean really, my sight changes from black and white to color the moment I meet this sorceress- what else am I supposed to believe? In the back of my mind I would admit to myself that she was right, I had never been taught more than the absolute basics about witches. How to kill them, how to ID them, what they did. That's it. Werewolf culture didn't make room for learning about other supernaturals, it just wasn't done.

I soaked in the bright haired beauty's words, quickly putting together that she was waving some sort of white flag by separating herself from her bag. That took potions out of the equation, food was already not an option, and if she was telling the truth- doubtful-that only left a verbal spell to worry about. She was standing down. As she stepped away from her things and Marcel started shaking more and more against my paws both out of fear and cold, I thought it best to follow her example this once. Keeping my eyes trained on her, I slowly backed off on my growling and lifted my head. Ideally I would have stood my ground, but Marcel was freezing and the most important thing was keeping him safe. So with a huff of irritation, I turned and wrapped myself around the fuzz ball protectively, laying down and letting him snuggle into the fur on my tummy. After a moment of my staring down the witch, Marcel let out another one of his pittiful squeaks, demanding attention. I curled in tighter, using my tail to fully encircle the little creature as I addressed the witch once more, cocking my head to the side in a distinctly human gesture to try and make my question clear. What do you want?

I gulped quietly, feeling slightly intimidated. This wolf could mess me up if it tried hard enough. I saw the question in her eyes and looked down at my feet, brushing it against the forest floor.
"Uhm...I'm gonna be honest, I didn't want anything from you. I just knew that if I were around you I.would be able to see color and..." I rambled, looking around in amazement. I looked down at my clothes. I was wearing a pair of blue jeans and a indigo tank top, and I was glad my fashion was visible to me now. A strand of my hair was out of the ponytail, and my new vision allowed me to see the fact that it was bright orange.
"The world is just...beautiful..." I muttered looking around. Suddenly, I snapped out of my daze realizing I had zoned off.
"I-I think you're my soulmate." I blurted out to her, seeing that I had a weight on my chest that was now lifted. I stared at her, a smile on my face. I sat down, my legs crossed as I came to eye level with the wolf. I bit my bottom lip, worried of what her response would be. But, nonetheless, I smiled, wiping the nervous look off my face. I stared into the wolf's captivating eyes. I was starting to feel myself getting lost in her eyes. I eventually blinked snapping out of my trance. I tilted my head slightly to the left, my smile fading slightly. This wolf might not even be my soulmate. She might not be into girls...That would be bad. For a moment, I turned my head to it's normal position and I closed my eyes for a few moments. I would be frustrated if this female was into males. It was clear we were soulmates, though. If I cam see in color, that must mean I'll be able to use my power! The only problem is the fact tha I have no clue how to use it. I opened y eyes after a few moments, the world looking a little brighter. I sighed quietly, waiting a few moments for her response.

Finally, we're getting somewhere. I thought, spotting the hesitation in the witch as she looked at me. It was about time she got a little nervous! I lifted my head a little higher as she broke eye contact, knowing if I had been able I would be smirking. Just as quickly as it arrived, my pride faltered as the witch started babbling non-sense again. How could I be the reason she could see in color- wait, had she been colorblind too? I stared at her with renewed interest, curiosity overpowering my instincts for the time being. Shaking my head slightly at the ridiculousness of it all returned my attention to little Marcel who was looking at the witch with interested blue eyes. Scolding lay, I lifted my tail to block his sight and just like before he didn't hesitate to obey his alpha's demands.
My head snapped up to attention at the woman's next words. What?! My mind snapped, ears pinning to my head at my sudden shock. Naturally my first objection was the fact that we had known each other a total of five minutes, but that was closely followed by the fact that she was a witch and werewolves only became mates with others of their kind. Though despite my objections I found myself not able to look away when the witch forced eye contact upon me again. Her eyes reminded me of the forest.
The moment was broken as my acute sense of hearing picked up on the gentle treading of paws. Instantly my ears twitched up again and I turned in the direction of the noise, home. For some strange reason, however, I found myself standing and nudging Marcel in the direction of the pack rather than alerting them to the intruder. In fact, I even found myself growling lowly at the witch when she made too much noise- trying to silence her before she got herself into trouble. I didn't understand why I did what I did, but what I did know is I wanted to have a chat with this woman. So, after silently communicating to the child where to go and making it clear that he wasn't to mention our visitor, I waited until I heard a few barks from the passing wolves before turning back to the problem at hand.
We needed to talk, and for that to happen there I needed to make a shift. Even so, with everything I was experiencing, I didn't quite trust myself to make a clean shift in front of this woman. So, I thought it best that I wondered back into the bushes first. Taking a breath to calm my heartbeat I closed my eyes and tried to focus on my transition. It was never a painless process, morphing your entire anatomy back and forth between two different forms, but I had long since learned to deal with it. At this point it only left me gasping and a bit overheated when I finished- when I turned voluntarily of course. The forced full moon change was obviously something else entirely, even the strongest of the pack were left broken wrecks for hours after the turn. Taking a moment to compose myself, I pushed off my knees and grabbed a tree branch to help me up before inspecting my leggings and shirt to ensure I hadn't ripped anything during the change.
Slowly, I made my way out from behind the trees I had been sheltering myself with, trying to keep my eyes on the mystery witch, but finding myself staring at my own clothing, hair, hands, anything that would reveal more about myself in this newly colored world. Though, I soon enough, however, I found myself staring at the other woman, noting again the vibrancy of her hair and the hues in her eyes. Strangely enough, I could feel my wolf backing away in the presence of this witch, I could feel my eyes and senses dulling back to a human range rather then keeping on high alert. Something about the woman was putting me- or part of me at least- at ease despite having just moments ago come out of transition. At the same time, I felt a strange pull towards her that had been absent while I was channeling my inner beast, and my objections to her earlier objections seemed to die on my lips. For a long moment I just found myself taking her in, observing from a new angle, a human perspective, not knowing what to say other than the obvious. [b]"We need to talk..."
A tense moment later, I shifted on my feet and then held out a hand- that was the courteous thing to do when talking to humans, so I assume a handshake would be fine for the witch as well. "Sabine." I introduced, waiting to see if she would do the same.

I looked at Sabine's hand hesitantly. What is she doing...Oh! Handshake! I smiled understanding, then firmly took her hand, and well shook it.
"Catalina. You can call me Cata, though." I replied, my grin plastered on my lips. I then pulled my hand away from hers. Sabine seemed quite nice, just a little jumpy, maybe a little aggressive but I can look past that. She was definitely beautiful, I liked her dark brown hair. I noted mentally the shade of gray all these colors would be so they could be familiar to me if she was separated from me.
"So... I know werewolves don't really approve of other supernatural beings becoming mates with a werewolf, but I can see in color only when I'm around you, so that means that we're color soulmates. That also means if you want to see in color, you have to be around me, and I have to be around you." I explained to her. I closed my eyes, already regretting getting myself in this mess.
"I do need to see in color because I have an ability to play with the color that people see, if it is in the area. But, I would only be able to use grays, so you don't have to worry about me tricking you. Plus it is torture to watch my mother pointlessly search for my soulmate." I said, laughing under my breath at the end. My mother also claimed she wanted a "normal" daughter. Normal by witch standards, anyway. I looked down at my feet, feeling slightly uncomfortable in this situation. I feel slightly defenseless because all my weapons are in my bag, and my bag is behind me, so if Sabine were to attack me, rest in peace Catalina Morris.
