    what if i were to tell you that you'd get that chance? thats right, im going to give it to you. a word for the wise- think very, very hard before taking it. is your life really so unsatisfactory? is there really nothing you can do to repair it? if both your answers aren't yes, leave. don't return here. wonderland is not as wondrous as it used to be, and going there will do nothing for you, for there is no coming back.


    on the other hand, if your answers were yes, come a little closer, and be sure this is what you want. what i am offering you is not for the faint of heart.


    wonderland has entered a state of madness. what you once knew as a beautiful, fantastical place has become twisted and deadly- parts of it may not seem so at first, but appearances can be deceiving. its inhabitants have turned against each other, and its leaders themselves seem to be missing. corruption, something wonderland isn't unfamiliar with unfortunately, has seeped back into its heart.


    as before, however, it has a chance at redemption. unlike before, however, nobody has entered it in eons- its last caretaker, a girl you all know as alice, has long since passed away. although the common story regarding wonderland has a happy ending, im afraid there was a lesser known sequel to it in which alice's family was murdered, and she was left in a state of insanity. wonderland was repaired once and merged with the real world the second time, but upon her death the two were ripped apart once more, leading us to the situation we are in now.


    i couldn't tell you the exact cause of wonderland's new corruption. perhaps it has simply been left alone for too long; perhaps it is the lack of public figures to lead the different realms; perhaps its something else entirely, or a combination thereof. that will be for you to find out, if you choose to accept my offer. on that note, i suppose i should explain to you exactly what that offer is, hmm?


    i'll send you to wonderland- you'll be free of whatever life you live here for good. but you'll have to deal with the ruin. you'll have to take the place of the leadership roles in wonderland- you'll have to truly become one of its inhabitants. it won't be a back and forth operation, my friends. there's no coming back once you're there. so once again, i'll ask you- are you sure your life is really so unsatisfactory? is there really, truly, nothing you can do to repair it?

    notes about characters: all of them have less than enjoyable pasts that caused them to be willing to set foot in wonderland, despite the warnings and situation behind it. they're each taking the place of one of the 'bosses' in wonderland; ie, they're each in charge of one of wonderland's realms, although not all of the realms' leaders are being replaced. [map]. before they take their places as a leader, however, they are tasked with clearing the ruin by the cheshire cat. subject to add a 'doll land' character and a 'wanderer' character, depending on interest.

    • this thread is strongly based off of mcgee's alice and alice: madness returns series. i will not require that you have played either game (although theyre amazing, you should), but i will require that you have read the [wiki]. not every page, but the obviously most important ones, especially those connected with your character. because of this, i want you to include one fact about madness returns that isnt in your character's articles in the other section of your form.
    • obviously theres going to be violence if you read any article from the wiki, be prepared for that

    his bulk, or rather, lack thereof remained the same- with his average height but thin frame, he remained looking somewhat awkward and lanky. the only change in this aspect of his body was the fixing of his normally slightly underweight condition. dee's skin, once pallid and obviously belonging to a sick man, returned to a more healthy state- it remained pale, of course, but far from the hallow, sickly sort.




    we all know the saying 'the eyes are the window to the soul'- dee's eyes, although a bright blue, were typically flat and almost dead looking before his introduction to wonderland. after, a bit of their liveliness returned, although it is now painfully obvious in them that he's a little out of his mind.




    you might say his hair took a similar change- from his time in the hospital, it was cut short and choppily, what little blue colour from its last dying remaining only in its tips before fading back to his natural dirty blonde colour. in wonderland his favoured vibrant blue returned, and although it remained somewhat ill kept its slight length returned as well.

    before entering wonderland, dee wore basically whatever he was given and was clean- his closet tended to be a smattering of styles, from graphic tees and sweatpants to plaid and jeans. as he entered wonderland, however, it became more obvious that his personal style tended to lean towards old fashioned dress clothes- white button ups, vests, bowties, slacks, the like. considering the... extravagancy of his realm, his style also tends to be accentuated with various mechanical bits.

    to put it as simply as possible, dee is insane. it's not the sort of madness that is immediately obvious, nor that that immediately seems dangerous- rather, he first appears to be somewhat innocent, if childishly eccentric. it may quickly become apparent, however, that his morals are questionable and he is far more capable than he may initially show.


    the very first thing anyone could possibly note about dee is his eccentric habits. he tends to be exceedingly unusual in his tastes, first off, and those tastes tend to vary with his moods. he can easily go from loving the dark to being absolutely terrified of it, for example. he also is rather talkative, no matter his mood- even when alone, he can be heard muttering to himself, although it's also not a far off assumption to say that he's talking to something else he believes to be with him. while dee doesn't exactly mimic one's every actions and words, he does tend to pick up on other's habits- whether it be the way a friend says a specific word or the hobbies of the leader he went to wonderland to take the place of, it has a way of worming itself into his mannerisms.


    in many ways, you might consider dee to be quite a bit childish. for starters, he hates doing things alone, refusing most activities unless someone is accompanying him. petty tantrums are far from a thing of his past, and it's not uncommon for him to attempt to use a puppy face to worm his way out of things. in fact, many times he tends to be a bit repetitive in his tactics- if he's managed to get someone upset at him, or otherwise get himself into trouble, its most likely going to be a cycle of aggravated fits and begging until he gets what he's after. despite this, however, it's generally fairly easy to please him. dee isn't the sort of person to have especially complex desires- nine times out of ten, his cycle doesn't last long, if it even begins at all. it's also not a far fetch to say that he might be a bit naive; most times he assumes things will always go how he wants them too, and he rarely considers that there might be others out there as manipulative as he is.


    dee also tends to be overly curious about anything and everything, whether its been seen by his own eyes or merely been heard on the breath of the wind. he's the sort of person to want to know everything there is to know, and he often goes to extremes to find new bits of knowledge. his curiosity is perhaps the one thing that dee doesn't expect others to help fulfil- the one thing you'll never find him growing angry over, although a small pout isn't unheard of. instead, he can get a bit resourceful in his seeking; the more dee wants to know your secret, the more likely the possibility of something exploding.


    as such, dee's sense of obliviousness may come as a slight shock. of course, it isn't exactly the sort of unawareness that has to do with the people and environment around him exactly. its more that dee is sort of disconnected from the world, in a roundabout way of putting it. for one, his reactions tend to be somewhat inappropriate. things that make most sad or happy may have little to no affect on him, where things that should have no affect on him can cause him to burst out in laughter or tears. he tends to be equally disconnected in a physical sense; his reaction to pain may be extraordinarily late or even nonexistent. many times he fails to even notice that he's wounded, even seriously, unless someone points it out or he passes out.


    perhaps as a side effect of his disconnection and curiosity, or perhaps as a result of something else entirely, dee tends to be a bit hard to predict. even those who think they know him fairly well may be constantly surprised by his actions and feelings towards things. his stance on one thing can go from being set in stone for ages to something exactly the opposite, and his mood easily takes wild turns even when he should be perfectly calm. he tends to choose unexpected or unheard of ways to do things one day, and then take the most conventional route the next. he can easily go from being your best friend to easily stabbing you in the back, if he thinks theres some benefit to it. it's hard to say exactly what he's going to do, think, or say next, and for this reason it tends to be hard to manipulate him, even despite his naive manner of thinking no one would do such a thing.


    dee's last defining factor is his insanity. its both the cause of and the result of all his other traits, its easily both the most obvious and the most surprising thing about him, its the sort of insanity that lets him find pleasure in things others would think of as madness, and most importantly, its the sort that can hide itself away in the back of his mind before crashing back out in a wave of violence, madness, and fear. dee tends to be the sort of criminal mind who commits his immoral acts not because he doesn't care, or because he can, but because he doesn't see them as wrong; a little bit like a small child taking candy from a store. in one sense this may strengthen him, since it means very few things arouse that annoying little voice of conscience in his head. in another sense, it does nothing for him, since despite his ability to be a capable foe, dee tends to be extraordinarily easy to break- his stability is very fragile, and given the right knowledge and circumstances, he can be very, very easy to knock down.

    he'd remained a fairly bland kid. he'd fell into a minor sort of depression- not the sort that people go to therapy for, or hurt themselves for, really. just the sort that made him have a hard time motivating himself much of the time, and perhaps occasionally contemplate what it would be like if he just wasn't, or if something in his life was drastically different. no, his current state of mind wasn't something that was ever evident until immediately before it happened. it wasn't really the sort of thing that easily could have been prevented.


    his quick decent into madness began and ended within a couple days late in his junior year of high school. its trigger was surprisingly inane, considering its consequences- your average news story about yet another serial killer on the loose. for some reason, however, it started a sort of contemplation in dee- about how short life was, about how little he'd thus far done with his life, about all the shoddy things that he'd been through. it put him in an odd sort of mood, although even that wasn't too terrible. in fact, he may have returned right back to normal if it weren't for the usual antics of the kids who seemed to think themselves better than everyone else getting a little bit more out of hand than usual.


    perhaps, somewhere in him dee had always been a little bit out of his mind- otherwise it'd be sort of hard to explain how he had snapped so suddenly. the exact details of the situation are a bit hazy to everyone involved, but the end result was quite clear- dee ended up in your typical mental institution. naturally at that point it was a little too late for him to go back, and whatever remained of his previously boring but sane self embraced the somewhat sanity lacking mind that had caused the incident in the first place. to say that he'd become a whole new person would be an under exaggeration- when it comes to personality, there are really no similarities between current dee and old dee.


    it took about two years for dee to be let out of the asylum, having been deemed 'safe' to return to society so long has he took his medications. naturally, with nowhere to go at that point- his parents had long since disowned him, thanks to the fondness they'd never shared- it didn't take long for him to forgo his medications and slip into a similar state to his current one, minus the good physical health. for the little remaining time between then and his introduction to wonderland, he spent his time on the streets, surviving however he could.

    history Beckham Gray Martinez was born the first and only son of Arturo and Emily Martinez. Their family was a small, broken one, but it was full of love nonetheless. Beckham's mother was a kind, strong, and incredibly smart woman, but she struggled with addiction. Specifically, heroin. As hard as she tried to quit, she was often caught using their money to buy more drugs.




    His father was more of a rough person, and though he was intelligent, he had a fiery temper. He'd already been placed in jail multiple times for starting fights by the time Beckham was five. That being said, it was difficult for him to hold a job. His most common place of work was Home Depot, which, as you can imagine, doesn't have the best of pay. They grew very poor very quickly, but they were optimistic people and always tried to make sure their son was happy.




    Beckham went to the nearest public school until he was fifteen years old. Two days before his sixteenth birthday, his mother was arrested for the buying and selling of heroin, as well as various other drugs. The family had nowhere near enough money to pay for her bail, so she was left to serve her sentence.




    This really took a toll on Beckham's father. The man locked himself in his room for hours at a time every day. He refused to eat, Beckham doubted that he slept. He didn't go to work. With his father in this state, and without another adult to take proper care of the house, Beckham was forced to drop out of school. He and his father were losing money fast. Neither of them could get a job, and they were both half starved at this point.




    About a half a month later, Beckham was sitting at the kitchen table, resting his eyes. From the other room, he heard a sudden loud noise - his father sobbing out loud, and then a crash, followed consecutively by a bang. The boy rushed into his dad's bedroom only to find the dresser knocked over, it's contents spilled everywhere. Arturo Martinez lay on the ground next to it, a gun in his hand, blood pooled up around his head. He had caved in and committed suicide. Not emotionally stable enough to handle his situation, Beckham left. He ran and ran, and never looked back.




    Beckham lived on the streets. He took refuge in homeless shelters at night and wandered the streets during the day. It was a lonely, difficult lifestyle for a boy of his age. Depression worked it's way into his heart. He had been mere hours from following in his father's footsteps when a strange being approached him in a dream, with an interesting proposition..

    [x][x] — Beckham found that upon entering Wonderland, his appearance was changed - almost a mirror image of how he was before his life truly tumbled downhill. While homeless, his ebony hair had grown to be long and tangled, to the point where it was almost in dreadlocks; now it is sleek and feathery to the touch, hanging down over his face just above his eyes. His bangs are rarely brushed out, but when he does decide to style his hair, he goes full-out. For more dressier occasions, he will usually gel his hair up to get it off of his face.


    Back in reality, starvation took quite the toll on Beck's body. He had been so skinny that you could count his ribs, and without enough muscle to support his wide-set frame, he was often hunched over. His poor posture and lack of a nutritional diet stunted his growth, leaving him shorter than average. Here in Wonderland, he's filled out rather nicely. Though still not the tallest, he's gained plenty of muscle, and even has some fat on his bones. He's quite the stocky boy, with broad shoulders, a thick neck, curvy sides, and well-muscled arms and legs (not to mention a stunning backside).


    Some things, of course, have stayed the same about Beckham his entire life - and still are true today. He has a creamy tan skin tone that derives from his mixed heritage. His eyes are small and squinty, shadowed by thin eyebrows. His pupils are wrung with an intense golden color that becomes brown the closer you get to the centers. He has sharp facial features; a thin white scar runs along his left cheek bone.


    Beckham's clothing style is plain - his normal outfit consists of an oversized gray sweatshirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, jeans, and white tennis shoes. However, as his reign over Queensland continues, he's grown considerably more extravagant - his fashion sense especially. He can sometimes be seen sporting a crown, or a cape, or even a velvety tux.

    Beckham is hardly an approachable person; he's built a tough outer shell around his true self due to the harsh events of the life he left behind. This leaves him with few friends and, in turn, few people to share his troubles with - not that he would in the first place. Beck is and always has been closed off. He refuses to share his emotions with others, especially when it comes to fear and pain. He prefers to suffer quietly, on his own. He's very much a lone wolf.


    At one point, Beckham was a kind, sociable boy. Now, when meeting a new person, he comes off as nothing but rude and standoffish. Sarcasm is his native tongue, and if that doesn't work he moves straight on to insults or brutal honesty. Deep down there somewhere, it pains him to be so mean, but this is the system he developed to keep people from trying to get close to him. He refuses to grow attached to anyone, after what happened with his parents.


    Beckham went suddenly from a starving, homeless person on the streets of some grimy city to the rich ruler of his own domain. This had a strange affect on him indeed; he adored this new power he had gained. Never in his life had he been so in control of anything. Because of this, he's becoming more and more demanding. He considers himself above everyone else, and isn't afraid of using violent or unfair means to get his way. This, combined with his stubbornness and short temper, makes him a very unpredictable ruler.


    Beckham didn't used to be like this. Somewhere in there still lives the fiery, optimistic child he once was. Although it may not seem like it, under all of his arrogance and undeserved pride, he knows that what he's doing is wrong. And he hopes that maybe, maybe saving Wonderland will help him save himself.

    however, once he found himself hooked on the stimulants that he could easily obtain with his wealth, all care for his aesthetic vanished and this left the man with nothing to be proud of when he looked in the mirror. any muscles he once had, sapped away, leaving a more gaunt, slim build-- which didn't look horrendous, but still undoubtedly unhealthy. it was only when he was brought to wonderland and became the leader of the caterpillar's garden, did he begin to fill back out again to some physique which resembled the one he had adopted before his episode - although not entirely.




    so now, he stands at 6'1, pulled up straight by his oddly upright posture, with long slender limbs, as well as a lengthy, lean torso. his face is slightly angular and each feature on it, is sharp and unnaturally defined, giving him a some what animated lol appearance, although his expression itself doesn't usually change-- it generally stays neutral and if anything shifts to a more grumpy look, particularly when he is annoyed by someone else's lack of knowledge. and that, contrasting with his dark hair, which can appear blue in some lights and dark brown in others, and his pale murky-yellow eyes, set him up at the embodiment of wonderland's blue caterpillar.

    ¬ his hair is deep maroon, appears ruffled, tufted and messy-- can also appear to be tinged blue in certain lighting, in wonderland 'cause blue caterpillar and magic? yeh?
    ¬ his eyes are a bright, pale brown-- which appear to be more yellow in wonderland
    ¬ as for his attire, lu tends to sport long blue dresscoats of varying length and shade, alongside white, collared shirts that often appear a little frilly around the collar and cuffs. in accompaniment, he keeps the bottom fairly simple, settling for a pair of fitted, deep blue pants, black boots that reach up to just below his knee and a velvet, blue top hat-- he doesn't exactly know why he dresses the way he does, but he has no intention of changing back into his normal clothes, or surgeon's uniform; not that he has the choice to do so. on top of that, lu keeps a decent size smoke machine on his left hip, connected to a tube and mouthpiece, giving him the opportunity to smoke whenever he likes when on the move. (so basically this)

    being the embodiment of wonderland's blue caterpillar, it's no surprise to know that lu is very intelligent, almost to the point it feels unnatural-- he can spout knowledge immediately on whatever topic is being discussed and is a thorough arguer, especially if the point he is trying to prove is a personal one to himself. but sadly, the trait that comes hand-in-hand with great wisdom, is even greater arrogance and the brunette has absolutely no problem at all with flashing his intelligence around and inserting clever little comments into conversations, just to prove that he can. therefore, he always feels as though he needs to prove himself to anyone else in close proximity to himself, for his self-esteem and to ensure that his vast mind goes unchallenged by anyone else.


    and with arrogance, comes the rude, brash nature of the man. although, he is more or less harmless, lu has a very sharp tongue and does tend to use it frequently, even with people he is familiar with and likes, with every intention of offending them, because of his aloof mindset. however, despite distancing himself from others and preferring to keep to his own company, lu does like to have intellectual conversations and debates with certain individuals that he respects and who aren't stupid; but these select few are very rare and he finds it very hard to locate people that he really gets on with.


    in addition to that, it appears as though lu has lost all his repentance in his years of living, and that can work to help him, or work completely against him, it all depends on the situation. for example, his lack of empathy is helpful in the situations where being savage and merciless is needed, just because it means he won't have to think twice about killing something that stands in his way, or that deserves death. however, it also makes him pretty ruthless when he is pushed and because he doesn't think mercifully, he has no appreciation for life and will gladly kill anything without the slightest flicker of guilt and that can be his downfall in certain situations.


    therefore, it is known that the brunette is very laid-back and a little too callous when it comes to life, including his own. he really doesn't possess a lot of self worth and couldn't care less about whether he lives or dies-- in fact, the 'reality' of wonderland and drugs is the only thing that keeps his head up and on his shoulders. without wonderland, lu would have nothing to live for, other than feeding his narcotics addiction and therefore regards the place as his true home, a place where he really feels at ease and can get away with acting rude and arrogant, without being frowned on by the society which surrounds him.

    and because of his attitudes towards other people, the brunette was never even considered by the people who were to potentially adopt children and he liked it better like that-- being a creature of habit he didn't want his surroundings to change and certainly preferred sitting in his residence rather than going out with any families who may have wanted him. so, it comes to no surprise that lu went through the rest of his life as peacefully and non-dramatically as possible; that was, until he left for university at the age of eighteen. of course, he passed the entrance exams and obtained the grades to earn a scholarship in a university in london, because of his outstanding grades and spent a lot of time during this period, experimenting with everything you could possibly think of, seeing as though he never needed to study and therefore, had a lot of free time.


    although, this experimenting episode was put on hold when he graduated from university prematurely at the age of twenty-one, having passed his medicine course with flying colours and was transferred to a specialist surgical clinic in london's center. however, the satisfaction of slicing up a person while they were under anesthetic, only lasted so long, before he moved on to craving something else. something stronger. class a drugs to be precise-- ecstasy, heroin and cocaine in particular.


    and in that year, his entire life went downhill. he began missing work and causing havoc in the clinic with his constant absences. using the narcotics to fuel his brain, he could enhance his intelligence, if he exchanged his sanity and full use of his mind and body. in the months that followed, lu has never been sure if he was fired from his job, whether he died, or whether he is simply passed out on his floor at home. but in any of those cases, it did seem as though wonderland was the better option. he was bored with reality and was always curious about the fantasy location-- which had always been a subconscious image in his subconscious; explaining how he knows many places, without having set foot there before.
