Username- Snow-Flame
Story Type- Long, romance, basically fanfiction. Maybe 500-1000 words.
Characters- Thyme and Sparrow.
Thyme
“You seriously do this every day? Are you out of your mind?” Thyme yowled to
Sparrow, who was rushing ahead of her across the rocks. Her pads were already
stinging from the friction of the hard surface. She looked down at her grayishwhite
paws and sighed. Sparrow might be older than herself but the brown cat ahead of her
definitely lacked maturity. She was worried about what the tribe would do while she
was gone. She had not yet taken on an Herb; or in simpler terms an apprentice, and
she was anxious about what could happen back at home without her. The only reason
she had gone was because she was lonely, she had wanted some interaction.
Unfortunately it seemed she had picked the worst possible cat.
Her short white fur glittered with frost as she chased after the older brown shecat.
Finally Sparrow had stopped, and beckoned for Thyme to do the same. Coming to a
stop she froze completely. She felt her legs become weak beneath her.
It was a large hole in the earth, she could see worn down wood planks and a lot of
rusted metal deeper down. This was an entrance to the Cave of Eternal Dark. An
abandoned mine left behind by the Tallfurs, or humans as the elder members of the
Tribe called them. Pits leading into the mine were all over the Tribe’s territory.
“Isn’t it great?” Sparrow mewed excitedly, practically bouncing in delight, whereas
Thyme couldn’t find her voice and she stood there; quivering like a leaf on a delicate
breeze.
“Are you okay?” Sparrow asked quietly, sounding concerned.
“I’m fine!” Thyme snapped, finding her confidence again, though probably not for long.
“Ssorry.” The brown shecat murmured dejectedly, stopping her excitement.
“Let’s just get back.” Thyme hissed quietly, deep down she felt terrible. She had tried to
make a new friend and had probably just blown it. Usually at this time of day she
would’ve been sorting herbs, not looking down into an abandoned Tallfur mine.
The walk back to camp was quiet, neither cat speaking. The cold chill of winter was
starting to wane and Thyme reveled in the warm rays of sunlight beaming on her soft
white fur.
She really wanted the tribe to understand that she was new to being their healer and
that she still had to learn things that Rosemary; her mentor hadn’t had time to teach
her. She figured she was better than nothing to the tribe.
She felt her eyes well up with tears and she blinked them clear again. They were back
at camp, and now she would probably be up all night habitually sorting herbs and
stacking them into neat piles; like she usually did when she was upset. Not getting
much sleep. She didn’t get a lot of sleep anyway.
Usually she was up all night trying to learn the properties of the herbs she had in her
den by testing them on herself.
“Look; Sparrow, I’m sorry. It’s just that tallfur places terrify me. Imagining being down
there all alone in the dark...” She shuddered.
Sparrow put her brown tail on Thyme’s shoulder comfortingly. “It’s okay. I don’t like the
dark either.”
With a little bit of weight lifted off her shoulders Thyme padded back into camp
alongside her new found friend.
And Sparrow, I don't have a story for her but I have a character sheet I can post.
Sparrow:
Sparrow is a small light brown she-cat with a short tail.
She is about 1 1/2 yrs old and enjoys hunting by herself.
She does not follow orders very well and does not like long-fangs (warrior age cats) nosing in her business.
She carries herself in a sassy way, and is sarcastic but somewhat obnoxious.
Walks: nervously
Eyes: Amber, dart around nervously.
Attitude: Sassy but really insecure deep down.
Voice: feminine, silky smooth
Fur color: brown
Treats others: Introvert doesn't like to interact with others, often comes off as insecure even though she is really just shy.
Age 1 1/2 years.
Plot- Sparrow and Thyme are both trying to get the tribe-leader, Snow, to fall in love with them. Only one can be his mate. After fighting for his affection they fall in love with each other. I am so trashy.
Other- In may, it there is a lot of shades from the clouds up above. On the 2nd we often go to the parade at the park.
Locations, just in case you need a reference. The tribe lives on a very cold snowy mountain.
Locations:
The Resort
The Resort:
Old swinger resort from the 1970's. Broken glass and moldy air are two of the dangers here. The old heart-shaped beds offer residence to rodents as well as Long-fangs (Warriors) and occasionally tall-furs (Humans).
Notable for; Mating location/right of passages for members of the Tribe of the Mountains.
Tall-furs vagrants and urban explorers visit this location often.
Warning: Tall-furs at this location are not friendly towards cats. Stay away!
The Scrap-Yard
The Scrap-Yard
The Scrap-yard is home to several vintage cars and trucks. While the vehicles decay many small animals make their homes inside of them. The vehicles leech heavy metals into the soil, making this the most contaminated territory belonging to The Tribe of the Mountains.
Notable for: Tall-fur Vagrants and Scrappers.
Warning: absolutely do not approach. Vagrants have been known to catch and eat cats here.
The Cave of Eternal Darkness:
The Cave of Eternal Darkness
The Cave of Eternal Darkness is a disused mine from the 1930's. It is a very disorienting maze. Many small-fangs (apprentice aged tribe members) die here. The mine has toxic air, very unstable explosives, a bear, and large pools of water. It is very dark and easy to get lost in, it also has large pits that seem to go down forever. Tall-furs occasionally come through the mine exploring. For most tribe members this place is off limits. Under no condition will tribe members be allowed through here.
Notable for: This place results in the death of at least 2-3 small-fangs during any given season.
Inhabitants: A bear, snakes, and occasional visits by Long-furs exploring. [/spoiler]
The Old Camp
The Old Camp
The old camp is where the tribe used to live before they moved to their current location. It was located near the base of the mountain and almost directly below the Cave of darkness, an abandoned mine. The mine fills with rain and overflows often, letting contaminated water flow through the camp area.
Notable for: The second most contaminated territory.
The Church
The Church
The Church is a very dangerous location. Built in the 1930s for miners working in the area, this area is visited by the strange cone-pelts. Strange tall-furs in red pelts with pointed tops. Their eyes peer out from beneath their masks. This place is falling apart although the steeple still stands, offering a great place to hunt birds.
Notable for: Strange cult that occasionally catches cats and other small mammals here. They are ritualistically sacrificed.
Warning: EXTREME DANGER, avoid at all costs. The risk is too terrible.
Will pay 25,000 upon completion.
