  • "The full moon rises, killing its shadow and then the wolves cry as earth is ravaged by the sun. Two stars shall collide and the shadows remain unclear, covering their eyes till blood is spilled--both earth and moon no longer kiss.

They say the world goes under smoke when nothing left is to live for, a rotting hell on earth where many fight for glory...though, we're still trying to claw through. Is there any hope left besides resorting to blood on our fragile and already unclean hands?

ic:The night stars glittered bitterly as the winds drifted, screeching in the young nymph's ears as her indigo eyes stared at the barren prairie she stood at--she had just let out a small breath, her heart racing as she looked at the flecks of blood on the tips of the ferns and grasses that felt soft against her bare thighs and fingertips. She sucked her lower lip as tears clouded at her eyes, but she remained invisible to those around her--the wild beasts. She knew not to make a sound, not to make one movement or they'd notice. They'd kill her.
The silver haired nymph watched, screaming inside herself as she heard the crunching of bones, the sight of her people before dwindling in numbers as they were herded about to merely get pounced upon and hunted for sport. They were prey that were not even eaten on, but merely there to litter the ground as a message to the others who came along with the child to see such ugly sights when they left. How? How could this possibly be? She clenched her hands into fists by her sides, gathering the thin ivory cloth she was wearing as hoarse groans hit her ears and yet, the beasts never once flinched. Instead, they found the sound and killed it out--whether it be man, woman or youth. Not one person didn't look familiar, this tribe was her family and she was raised with them--for them and one by one, they were slaughtered.
The child blinked rapidly as the beast soon paused near her, lifting its nose and coming in, closer before stopping in front of her before baring its teeth. She stiffened as it tensed its muscles, its golden eyes filled with utter disgust and hate before letting out a growl. She squeezed her eyes shut as it started to pounce--yet all she felt was the wind rush forward. It wasn't her, it was someone a few feet away--another child--that had fallen victim.

The girl flinched as the sight before her vanished and sunlight cleared, hands still on her cheeks and platinum hair was flashing about her. "You are here because of me, because I was able to live and endure the struggle of our entire tribe destroyed by the wicked beasts that were once our allies, our friends..and now, we have only you after four hundred years, to build our army and defeat them. I lived a long life, child, my abilities have now been superseded and are blossomed in you." A old yet firm voice rang. She looked up, seeing the not as youthful elf with a smile on her face as her faded indigo eyes shined with pride. "Pyra, you shall make us strong...the prophecy will be complete with you."
"Yes...Grandmother, I understand." She spoke, her voice quivering with slight hesitancy as she nodded in agreement. They clasped hands and indigo eyes met gentle grey ones as they exchanged subtle breath. "I won't let our tribe down..."
A loud cackle came from the elderly one, nodding her head before laying back within the tree bark roots, smiling as her body shifted comfortably within the made bed. "Go on, Pyra, that's all I needed to show you...the resolve--I know you've questioned but now you see the truth. You can't ever doubt again. You must make this place thrive, do you understand?"
Pyra nodded once more before looking back wistfully, clutching her grandmother's hand in a tight squeeze before letting go and turned to head outside where her family was waiting. "Yes, Grandmother. I will do what's best for our family." She answered swiftly, heading outwards from the tree. Not even pausing to stop to say a quick farewell, she needed the time to process, to think--to even breathe--before she could focus on sword arts, bed chamber and magic. All key things of instinct, of survival. Find a teacher, find a mate and pray to the gods that the bloodline can flow. Somehow, Pyra was the second of twenty children to live for the next life. Her mate, indefinitely, would be the other child that lived.
She found no interest yet it was tradition. Her sister taught her how to become a loving bride and faithful whilst her father taught her sword fighting and mother--as well as grandmother--taught her how to hone in and kill with her abilities, no matter who or what the target. All this to survive, all this to become something for something that held little meaning to her but did for her family and the other side of the war. Her supposed 'enemies' that targeted them out of spite. What was she to do? How was she supposed to make this life last if all she did was make mistakes? Yes, she felt hatred for the breeds she was fighting against but there was also curiosity and...and...yearning to make amends--if it were to be possible.
Pyra then paused, her gray eyes setting sights of straw and cobblestone--she had wandered away and unto a new race--the humans. She held nothing for them but amusement as she saw them work and play--really, they were like elves with smaller ears and much more carefree, much more pure. She rather liked them. The nymph drew a silent breath, dazed at the sights as the strong men built and the women played with their offspring or did some kind of work for their mates or others like them. She studied them, watching as one girl--roughly, twelve--was fetching water with a wooden bucket or sorts. Were they always so close to the streams? She wondered before getting distracted on the creek, wondering where it led. She didn't move, but felt herself wanting to.
Pyra then looked back, knowing that she'd be expected home--but what was the risk? The elf grinned, walking along to follow the stream's path, knowing all too well that she could be heading for trouble.

"Preserve your life until the time comes." The words were engraved deeply into cave roof of her beloved room. She was told never to forget this and so it directly above where she slept, a wooden-framed bed next to her nightstand. Everything they had within their mountainside cave was made from either dirt, wool, wood, even even bushes. For a canine species, they had above average craftsmanship and so it simply looked modern inside of a cave though without the technology. It was how Shiro enjoyed her life or at least though the freedom that she was given. She was restricted from doing many things such as going too far away from home, playing with anything too dangerous or even doing anything that were dangerous even if they had been simple things for a canine. Hunting for her was off limits and so was climbing trees though anyone given too many restrictions would simply rebel at one point.
She didn't have a mother, having died years prior to a rare illness. Her father was the only one she knew left in her family and even he was scarce. He would always go off to "work" though he never had an explanation to where he was going. The man simply disappeared for the day and came back when there was a problem or to say goodnight. There was no bond between the two of them and so she tried doing what she wanted only to be reported by someone and being scolded by her father. She was shy yet rebellious in both ways. She would do things in secret and yet she hated being around others at times because of how little she ever interacted with other people. She didn't find her life very difficult and yet only strict at that where she would become bored at times.
Today was no exception. She laid in her bed, arms behind her head as she stared at the engraved words. She was told that every kitsune lived by this saying and yet only she was treated differently as if half of them were oblivious of this saying altogether. It only made her wonder if she was anything special and yet nothing had showed towards anything she tried to do. There had been nothing different, nothing unique, or anything truly separating her from any others from what she could see around her. She let out her frequent sigh as she sat upright in her bed, looking towards the opposing rocky wall above where her dresser was pressed against it. Again, she was bored and again she had her own solution.
She swung herself off of her bed, pushing herself off and landing softly on the floor, heading over to the wooden door for a moment. She turned her head to the side, her ear twitching as she listened in for any sounds of someone nearby. Smiling, she headed towards her dresser, sure that no one had been nearby. She pressed her hands against the side of the dresser to push the side while it dragged against the ground, revealing a small opening behind it. She knew exactly where this led and so she crawled inside, grabbing a small handle on the opposing side of the dresser to drag it back into place. Of course she had to do this backwards, not being able to turn herself around in the small tunnel she had made.
With that, she began to crawl her way through, taking her time as the tunnel slowly led closer and closer towards a light. Her eyes began to adjust as she headed towards it, seeing her well-known bush that covered the other entrance. The foliage rustled as she crawled inside of it, peeking her head out to notice no one around. She had been on the side of the mountain where the caves entrance lied on the front. Knowing this, she didn't have much to fear over who had been close on another side. She scampered away from the mountain, heading off into the forest as she always loved to do on her free time. Her dad had always told her not to go into the forest. There had apparently been boundaries set within it that she couldn't see and yet she felt the need to test her luck, going silently and quickly through the forest she wanted to explore. At times she would go there simply to get away from her tribe and at other times she had been curious to see things that she normally couldn't.
It had been early in the morning at that time and since then she had walked slowly around the trees, peering at every interesting point she could look at. It was hours since she had first arrived in the forest and yet she had still walked through the grass unheard of. She peered across at a river nearby where she could see a few figures. She knew she had heard of them before and they could have only been thought to be humans. There were a few stories told to her by her father about them and yet she felt as if she knew little to nothing. She was fascinated by them and really any other creature she could see along the way. Only she looked higher up to see the only one she was scared of on the other side of the river. Her eyes widened slightly as she quickly went behind a tree, firmly placing her back against it as she held back the fact she was trying not to crush her tail. Was that an elf?! I really hope not. I really hope she didn't see me. I don't want to die. Maybe dad was right. Maybe I should stay home. It's a lot safer there. They would protect me. I just need to stay in my room. There would be no elves. No one but myself. her mind raced constantly as she stayed pressed against the tree only being scared by what she saw.

ooc: sorry the post got progressively worse since I tried to keep up with it but I had to keep going back and forth and had to keep reminding myself where I left off and after the second paragraph is when I started having to do all that and it was a bit annoying

  • Your style has slightly changed...it's really good--not that it wasn't before--but there's something about it...something more seasoned and refined. It was a nice post...I just gotta think about what to do next.

  • Was it? Like I said it could've been a lot better but my quality went way down because I was going back and forth so the next time I have good muse it'll turn out better ^^". I felt like there was almost no description after the second paragraph and I was just putting down what she was doing instead of anything else because I was just a bit worried and my mind was elsewhere

  • ooc: Sorry. As you know, I've been going through things this week and since they've finally lifted, I'll whip up a post. I might wing it...I dunno what to really write about yet--I'll think of something. Sorry to keep you waiting... ^^;

ic:The nymph shifted her gaze upon the humans towards the stream, her grin rising as she carefully took her steps. She was gradually going faster--she was now going into a small little jog! All she could do was laugh and smile as she eagerly followed the babbling brook. Never had she felt free, so off the edge as she went along side it--no longer hiding from view in the forest to now in the soft fertile grasses where the water rushed along. She could hear it roaring in her ears! The wind blowing her silvery locks from her face to her shoulders and let them bob and play as she carelessly flew along as quick as she could towards the directions of where ever the roaring current led.
A small giggle came by as her quick feet drew, only to pause as her breath was no longer there. She paused, her grey orbs connected to a large rush of water cascading down as fast as it could--but gallons by the many were slithering through the cracks. She panted and looked back, the village out of sight and redwood trees towering over her, the barren plains no longer around but merely dusty sand tickling her feet. Why hadn't she known such change? She stiffened. This territory wasn't familiar to her at all--she had gotten lost. There was no way out besides following the stream again and she didn't want to take the risk of being seen once more if she had invaded another being's territory--she'd be killed instantly.
"Oh Pyra," She whispered to herself. "What have you gotten yourself into now?" She looked back and her face paled as shadows lurked closer. She swallowed hard, quickly darting within the water, her breath drawing back into her but as the cold liquid passed through her, she knew she only had a few seconds left to really grasp life. Blindly, Pyra climbed and clawed through till a gaping maw was shown--air! She quickly squirmed, wiggled and climbed through. She needed it!
With her head sticking out, she heaved in a breath, her body shortly following her. Her grey eyes wide as not a being showed and little light passed through--but enough to see what might've been inside. This area wasn't claimed (It didn't mean the territory wasn't) and Pyra smiled. The nymph would be safe--even for a short while. The girl shivered as air blew through her, alerting her of an exit of some kind but where? Pyra licked her lips, curled into a ball and closed her eyes. She was short out of breath and needed to recover some energy before foolishly wasting more. All the while chastising herself, knowing that she'd have to find a way out eventually.

  • Pyra follows the stream, find a waterfall and is lost within some sort of territory she can't really get out of without being caught or hurt. She sees a shadow (Which could be y/c) and stupidly dives into the waterfall, only to climb up and notice a cave within it. She climbs in it and is currently hiding.

Shiro began to slow her breathing, calming her own heart rate as she regained her own composure. She was sure the girl had seen her within the second of time she had to hide herself behind the tree she leaned against. She had wanted to see what the elf had done but yet the faint sound of a water splash had rung in her ear. This had merely intrigued her, making her peek her head from the side of the trunk, watching the last bits of water sprinkle down into the mass it had come from. She blinked, wondering what had happened in the few moments she hindered herself from seeing. Her hands were held at the side of the tree, now extending as her body moved away from it and yet having still been placed on the bark until she was far enough away.
Her head tilted slightly, pondering still what may have happened in the short time and thinking if what she saw was even real at that. Had she seen an elf or was it her imagination? All she knew was something had made a splash within the water and piqued her interest immensely. She took a step closer to the water in which she knew was the area. Where could she have gone? she thought to herself as her eyes followed the stream upwards to a waterfall ahead of her. They couldn't have gone towards the waterfall, could they have? she questioned as she began to walk along the bank. Wherever the girl had gone, she wanted to know to understand her situation more rather than the little she had seen.
