are rude characters hard to rp?

  • [size=10][font=georgia]^ i just returned to the site after a few months of being gone, and i'm trying something different. i've always played nice (at least mostly nice/unintentionally rude) characters, so my question is; is it hard to get anywhere (development, relationship, etc wise) with a rude/intolerant/asshole-ish character?

  • If you seek, then no it isn't hard at all! <3 i have a very rude character in the exiles who has somehow gotten a complete family, and is overall very disrespectful. Just post in OOC boards asking for plots, and make sure to explain your character can be rude. its super fun, actually!

  • [fancypost borderwidth=0][justify][size=10]all my characters are rude as heck, i can't even make nice characters anymore lmao

but yessss they are so fun to play

It depends on the clan. Some clans are much more tolerable of rude characters, and them clans tend to be much more fun to roleplay in if you have a rude character xDD

Pretty much all of my characters have some type of passive-aggressive trait about them, and from experience they're very fun to roleplay xDD

I have just returned after a long break with a new character that's supposed to be rude, having difficulties but that is only because i've had manors and niceness ingrained into my head since birth.
    soooo i'll track this ~

  • i had a character named felix who was an absolute asshole and he was super easy to develop
usually their anger acts as a form of denial that anything is going wrong in their life so things really start to bottle up in them until they finally explode, either as an emotional fit or a fit of rage.

  • [fancypost bgcolor=; font: normal 14px times new roman; borderwidth=0px; text-align: justify][hr]not for me

but that's prob bc i'm an asshole so

  • [fancypost borderwidth=0px; font-size: 8pt; width: 420px][justify]I'm pretty bitchy myself but at the same time I'm also super sensitive?? So it kind of takes me a while to adjust that occ opinions are occ opinions yet I still manage to get butt hurt sometimes ahaha.

But after you get into the groove of things, it should come naturally if you're like me :^))

  • [font=courier][size=10][color=white]I always have trouble taking my rude characters as far as I want to because irl, I go out of my way to be nice and it feels wrong suddenly flipping to a disrespectful attitude, especially when there are people I don't even know on the other side getting to see it. That may just be because I don't like roleplaying emotions and attitudes I don't feel/have felt (it makes my writing more realistic in my eyes) and having a rude character is just??? It kills me and makes me feel like I'm actually being mean to people. If you've seen ruder posts with my characters, you know I go crazy in ooc saying "IC OPINIONS OKAY I LOVE YOU ALL".
Overall, it's easier for me when I'm roleplaying with someone I have known for a long time and am familiar with than just going out there with a snooty smol because I know my friends know it's just IC.

^^ i can totally relate to that fear of others thinking i'm being mean to them, not my character is being mean to their character.
