There was dirt on them, from when they trailed along the ground. As he cleaned his wings, he glanced around, spotted a girl (Callie). He nodded to her. "What's your name?" Luke asked, as he scraped some dry mud off of his wings from the day previous day.

    Callie looked at the boy (Luke) and smiled her green eyes studying him curiously, "Callie you?" She asked cocking her head a bit sitting down next to him. This was the first guy she had ever really talked to so she didn't exactly what to say.

She was fairly pretty, with those light eyes of hers. Luke had never seen the eye color on anyone else before, and it was astonishing just to gaze into them.

    "Nice to meet you Luke" she smiled shyly his gaze made her feel so warm, "what's happening to me in acting like a child" she screamed in her head. Then he asked for her story she didn't exactly know how to start it, but she liked talking to this boy so she'll do the best she can. "Well I was running from the black coats" she began "i had a cabin where i lived for about four years or more, i can't remember and they came out of nowhere it was like they knew where I was living" she sighed and paused. "Well they burned it down and chased me but i lost them or they gave up chasing me and few days later in in the rain cold and meeting people like me". She ended the brief story about her life with a smile looking at the boy in the eyes for once in her life she kept the gaze.

Instinct led them here. It wasn't their fault.

    Taylor, who had been leaning on the doorframe, watching the others wander about the room, spoke up, directing her voice to the girl who lived in the cabin, "I don't think any of them have chased us this far. I've been running for weeks. They haven't found me since. I'm sure others can say the same." She arched an eyebrow at the girl, wondering if any others would back her up. If they didn't, Taylor didn't care. She knew that she would back up her own point after all

A pit formed in his stomach, and Luke could remember them clearly, their emotionless eyes staring at him. "Black coats. Sh-t," Luke muttered, standing up quickly. Despite how badly he wanted to talk to Callie, he didn't want to be captured. "Callie, we have to go," Luke said, peering down at her and into her eyes.

    "But she could be right and we lost them" she said glancing at Taylor for a second but fear of being wrong made her stand and stand next to Luke. She was ready to follow him anywhere he was the first friend she had ever had and maybe he could be something more in the future. "So where now" she ask choking a bit starting to regret telling her story. She then glanced at Luke hoping maybe he would have an answer on where to go, and she couldn't help but to feel safe around him around all of them.

    Layia glanced around at everyone, a little scared herself. "I agree with her" she said, nodding toward the girl in the near the door (Taylor) "I say we have take a day to rest up, get our stuff together and then head out." Still thinking she added on, "I mean thinking logically the black coats were following on foot, and we can fly a lot faster then that, so we have at least a day before they catch up, if they even know where we are." Glancing at her brother she found him nodding along, agreeing with her.


    Alex liked his sisters idea. Speaking up he said, "I agree we should rest up a bit before heading out at the least. I don't know about you guys but I'm dead tired." Smiling he looked at the others to see what they would think.

In some way, he wanted to reassure her that it was alright that she talked to him, but he just couldn't bring himself to do it. "Deeper into the forest, I'd think. Maybe North. I feel bad now, because I feel like we brought them here," Luke answered, scratching the back of his neck. "I'll protect you guys, though. I'm good with fighting, so I can be a guard of some sorts," he continued, dropping his hand.

    Callie softly nudged him and looked up with a gentle smile on her face and then took a blanket and looked at the girl once more "thank you" she softly said. She then walked over to a corner of the cabin and curled up a tiny bit but couldn't really sleep so she looked at the people in front of her. Luke made her feel butterflies and he smelt good making her chuckle and put her head on her knees.

    Taylor hesitated, then finally stepped inside. She glanced nervously around then leaned against the wall near the door, closing it with her foot. She gave a slight nod to Layla as a way to say thanks before turning back to the others and said, "If we can't fly, then we need to think outside the box."

    Alex nodded at Taylor, agreeing with the girl. Taking a blanket from Francisca smiling he said, "I wouldn't worry about the whole not flying thing. The most my sister and I could do before the black coats came for use was flutter." Stepping back he walked back towards his sister, noticing her talking to the other guy in the group.


    Layia huffed when the other guy besides her brother said the thing about guarding them. If he thought that he was the only one that could fight he had another thing coming. "Hey big guy, your not the only one who can fight, so count me in on the whole protecting thing." A little smirk played on her lips and she hung a hand out to the him, smiling at the girl sitting down behind him. "I'm Layia, you guys are...?"

    "Owe you," Taylor snorted as she sank to the ground, "When this is over, I'll find a way to make this cabin look a little less like it was run over by a bulldozer and never come by again. After all, you seem to enjoy your peace and quiet." She leaned against the wall near the door and closed her eyes, but the rest of her senses remained alert.

He plopped down next to her, giving her a kind smile. There was something about her that made his heart beat a little faster, a little harder. Luke attempted at pushing away the feelings in his head, but they were still there. He leaned his head back against the wall, taking a deep breath.

    Callie looked up at Luke feeling his warmth touch her skin making her shiver a bit, and then looked at the girl named Layla and smiled warmly at her. "I'm Callie nice to meet you" she whispered seeing the other two girls were falling asleep. She then looked at Luke and noted his muscular build and handsome features it made her wondered what it was about him that made her feel funny. She'll figure that out later as sleep pulled at her and she knew she couldn't fight it any longer. But the girl who let them in distracted her for a moment if they owed her then why did she let them in then she thought. Shaking her head Callie then inched a little closer to Luke and curled up wrapping the blanket around her.
